Despite the romanticism surrounding the emotion, it can be difficult to be loved completely — not just the beautiful parts of us, but also the sad parts, the injured parts, the hidden and less-than-pleasant parts. There are marks on us, both physical and mental, that we'd often rather forget. The mental ones can just be easier to hide. As for physical scars, they can be off of our minds some of the time, but that's exceedingly hard to do in more intimate, close moments. Whether it's to your dismay or otherwise, your partner is not looking away and ignoring your scars. To the contrary, they're providing attention in a way most heavily associated with tenderness: kissing. It may be an accidental slip off target, or they may be trying to show you that what you've done and who you've been don't matter to them now. Does the gesture touch you? Make the walls come up once again because of the memories that are dredged from somewhere you'd rather no go? A mixture of both? The wound has long closed, yet the pains remains; these days, however, there's someone who may be willing to help you bear it. Reply with the usual: canon, character, preferences, et al. You may also want to say if you're down for smut or not, since it's not a given. Be sure to include what side you'd like your character to play. Mention if you can do both the kisser and the kissed. Also, feel free to talk about your character's scars. Reply to others.

[Medusa's Master is a busy woman, not least of all because she's Master to many more Servants than only Medusa. She's one of many vying for Ritsuka's attention, and she knows it—but it's harder to let it bother her than she might have thought it would be. Maybe it's because Ritsuka manages to make time for her all the same. They can't read together every night, but they've worked out a loose schedule of sorts: every so often, when she's not otherwise spoken for (or exhausted from overwork), Ritsuka hosts Medusa in her bed to read her to sleep. A quiet, private shared thing between only the two of them. Medusa suspects her sisters know, but . . . well, she'd rather not think about that until she's forced to.

Tonight isn't going to be that night. They have their privacy. Medusa is propped up on Ritsuka's bed, in a sweatshirt and joggers, with Ritsuka curled up against her side. She's become deeply fond of these stolen moments of not-quite-solitude, and the warm feeling of that little ball of woman nestled against her. She keeps her voice low. Eventually, the rhythmic, murmured lines of The Golden House will send her Master off dreaming, no matter how interesting they are, and Medusa doesn't want to interfere with that.

But tonight—

In one of the beats between lines, Medusa glances down at Ritsuka to make sure she's still awake, only to catch a rare sight: her camisole has ridden up, exposing a strip of skin above her waist. . . . Honestly, this is compelling enough for Medusa to stumble, caught up in that moment of staring. The peek of scar tissue, while unmistakable, hardly registers at first.

But there it is, and there she is staring down at it, even if her motives are more impure than surprise or concern.]

John wakes with a start. His hand reaches for the gun under his pillow before he remembers it's in the drawer. He's kept it there for at least a few weeks since it seemed no one was coming for them.

Blinking at his watch, he sees it's still early. Still dark. Not even worth getting up.

Yet his body heard something that alerted him.

He gets out of bed and wanders through to the corridor. The cottage they were staying in, courtesy of Mycroft, was constantly warm and quiet. Far away from busy traffic but not isolated and vulnerable. Somewhere safe for them to be while Sherlock recovers from his...experience. 'Hide and seek', John had once called it, forever regretting even the thought.

It was never a game.

Sherlock's bedroom door is open and his bed empty. John tries not to let his heart start pounding with worry, as it's hardly the first time. He pads downstairs slowly to the living room.

"Sherlock?" he calls, softly; "You awake?"

Ashe ☠ Overwatch

[Two weeks. Two weeks have passed since her accident-- or, as she so carefully avoids thinking about, her absolute failure-- and Satya finds herself walking to the bathtub under Ashe’s watchful eye, her feet steady even though she feels as if she’s about to fall over at any given moment, because she is slowly but surely getting used to walking without crutches or someone else’s support.

Normally, sustaining several broken ribs, a nearly collapsed lung and a broken leg would be enough cause for a prolonged stay at the nearest hospital, but Vishkar’s medical department immediately seized such a perfect opportunity to test out their new healing technology. The results are impressive: her fractures have healed in only a week, both of her lungs are back to full health, and, for all intents and purposes, her body is fully healed.

There was just one side effect they didn’t account for: the debilitating levels of pain that left her bedridden for over a week.

Things are better now, but everything still feels too tender, too raw, like she is one sudden movement away from crippling pain. Satya misses her routines, she misses dancing, and meditation can only do so much when the only thing she sees when she closes her eyes is herself falling to a certain death.

So she deals with it the best she can. Ashe rushed to her side as soon as she knew, and Satya has no doubt that the other woman’s presence by her side is what has allowed her mind to recover as quickly as her body did.

When Ashe gives her a hand so she can safely lower herself into the bathtub, Satya steals a quick kiss and gives her a tired smile, genuinely thankful for everything she has done, even if taking care of others is clearly not Ashe’s forte.]

This may take more time than usual. [She pauses, looking down at her cybernetic hand as she opens and closes it. After her failed mission, her arm was damaged badly enough that it needed to be repaired, and she still hasn’t gotten completely used to the temporary replacement.] I need to remove my arm. It has been a while since I last did it.
