THE ASSUMED CR SMUT MEME
(or the everyone knows everyone meme)
a meme for playing out relationships in medias res

As appealing as some of the in-hotel options are, plug and play random fucking of strangers can get a bit played out, especially for those who feel their characters are restricted by that concept. Of course, there's always developing a relationship between characters, yet given the come-and-go of the playerbase here, it's often impossible to find someone willing to put in that kind of effort. Anon plotting can help; that's still touchy, though. But even with all that, sometimes you just want to enjoy the relationship between characters. In fact, given the kink and the characters involved, that may just help make the scene richer. Still, assuming CR/relationships can be a big no-no in rp. What to do?

This meme takes away that worry, because this is a place to play out all the scenes that require something to exist between the characters before the bumping uglies happens. All that is taken care of for you. Just tag in and enjoy!

Here are some prompts you can use, though they are by no means binding:
1. Close friends/friends with benefits
2. Dating or lovers
3. Married, by choice or by decree
4. Alliance of convenience, or the only person available to you
5. Couple attempting to spice up their sex life by trying out new kinks
6. Allies or teammates
7. Couple attempting to conceive
8. BDSM/slave and master
9. Forbidden lovers who should never be together
10. One-sided, unrequited love
11. First time of any variety
12. Longstanding sexual tension finally resolved
13. Incestious relationship
14. Relationship with an age difference
15. Relationship with a species difference
16. Non-consensual/abusive relationship
17. Desperation sex (ie, the last people alive, the end of the world, etc)
18. Hurt/comfort sex
19. The "been together forever"/comfortable with each other couple
20. WILDCARD or come up with something more to your own tastes.

the fish out of water shipping meme

The main conceit of shipping memes, it seems, is that both characters exist in the same universe. But what about something that tosses that out the window for a minute, and lets you play with the implications of "crossover?" Here, you can play with someone from a different canon (or AU or radically different canonpoint) and enjoy shipping that's truly out of this world.

It can be hard enough being ejected from your own home - imagine being plucked away from your home world! This could be because of your own doing (say, you were banished for being too cocky), you were too evil or too ambitious to stay, or even due to an accident. Those temporal shifts can be a little much. Whether by design or by chaos, however, you end up in the same place...or, rather, a different place. Theoretically, this world could be very much like your own, with only a few minor changes, like a purple sky instead of a blue one or lion-demons instead of tiger-vampires. On the other hand, it could be completely different, anywhere from more technologically advanced or less so or even filled to the brim with bizarre creatures. They still use cars? What are those infernal beeping devices? Why does no one have feathers or gills? Needless to say, this could be overwhelming if you are possibly powerless and definitely alone.

But you're not alone. Someone, a native of this world, has ended up tangled into this whole affair with you, whether they want it or not. You can't turn that down. They're your only ally, your only anchor in this brand new world. Maybe, just maybe, they can show you a thing or two to help you back up on your feet. Or, best case scenario, back to your home! When you're out of the frying pan and into the fire, though, nothing is cut and dry. Everything about this world may not be so horrible - it may be fun, even - and this person you've ended up with, oh, they could be worse. In fact, you may be beginning to feel at home with them.

Remember. This is not your real home. You want to go back, don't you?

And what about the other party? Of course, you may be less than thrilled that you now are playing tour guide to what seems like a crazy person. Perhaps this was out of the kindness of your heart or you may be forced to play babysitter, but it all leads to you keeping an eye out on them. They have to be lying about all this! Sure, they may talk strange, unconsciously insult you, and act like the simplest things confuse them; that has to be an act!

...still, act or not, you're starting to see that there's more to them than their goofy ways and there's more to your feelings toward them than you thought.

how to play
  • This meme is inspired heavily by the first Thor movie and also a great deal by those romantic comedies where someone from the past goes into the future or vice versa.
  • Comment with your character and preferences. Don't leave your comment blank! Mention something about your character's world in the comment for the canon blind (ie, "ancient Greece" or "dystopia with kids killing kids - the Japanese version"). It doesn't have to be long, it can even be a few words! If you have any other ideas, include them.
  • Reply to others. Use the RNG - or not. Whichever you prefer.

prompts
  1. arrival → You've just arrived...and someone has seen it. What's your impression? Good? Bad? Get the hell away from them? It may depend on why you're here in the first place.
  2. not so different → Huh, this could be your own home in the universe, except for a few subtle changes. But those changes stand out.
  3. different time → The place you've ended up is either much more advanced or much more primitive than you're used to.
  4. different world → They breathe oxygen? Where is their night vision?
  5. magical moment → See the gif. Essentially, it's that moment of interest before everything goes absolutely wrong.
  6. disbelief → So, they says they're an ancient Roman or a magic sky god. Did they hit their head?
  7. argument → No, no, no. You're not going anywhere until we get you some clothes and some help.
  8. forced to take them in → You have no other choice but to take this person in. You were either charged with the task or feel guilty.
  9. offer of shelter → You actually want to take them in out of the kindness of your heart.
  10. depowered → Were you a powerhouse before? Well, now you're an average joe. That'll teach you.
  11. misunderstanding → Here, we don't walk around in loin cloths, draw swords, or barely bathe or eat toothpaste. We also don't ride dogs, either.
  12. friendly fun → Being around here isn't always bad. You get to see new sights, taste new foods, and make new friends. Your milage may vary on the last one.
  13. introduced traditions → Time for the newcomer to show their host something from the old country, so to speak, or the reverse.
  14. romantic moment → Dancing or sitting under the stars or your own preference. Go wild and be creative!
  15. showing you care → They have helped you out a lot since you've arrived. Perhaps you can return the favor by lending a hand or solving a problem?
  16. the romantic shift → The typical turn of events where the two of you begin to see each other in a different light.
  17. not my type → Your usual type is more glamorous or more...possessing of gills, but the bond between you two endears them to you.
  18. jealousy → The newcomer misunderstands the dynamic that's already set in place.
  19. someone back home → You find yourself growing closer to your new friend, but you're already taken back home.
  20. confession → You both admit it's more than mere interdimensional alliances.
  21. smut → You've reached that point in the relationship, or you're about to leave, or you're just curious about the people in this world (remember that scene in Howard the Duck where - nevermind, actually).
  22. epic fight → Two worlds collide and big bads from the past are coming to threaten your temporary home and new love.
  23. reformed → You've learned your lesson and turned over a new leaf. As much as you can, anyway. You're more open, less cocky, whatever the case may be.
  24. sacrifice → Unfortunately, you won't get to go home. You selflessly put yourself in harm's way for your lover.
  25. going home → Time for a heartfelt goodbye. Will you see each other again or is this it?
  26. new home → You've learned and gained so much, you've decided to stay in this word.
  27. WILDCARD

From Afar

You were supposed to keep an eye out for them. Your job was to watch them, preferably while staying away. It was supposed to be an impersonal, professional task.

You were absolutely not supposed to fall in love with them.

→ Comment with your character, preferences, desired role, what have you.
→ Tag others.

APPRENTICE-SHIPPING

From the moment we begin our lives, we're learning. It's imperative to surviving, to growing - don't walk in the shadows, it's dangerous, don't touch the fire, you'll be hurt. These days, most continue to hone this natural instinct with formal schooling, but that's certainly not the end all, be all of knowledge. If you go to school or not, if you have the opportunity or otherwise, you won't stop sharpening your mind after those formative years. That's just not the way our incredible brains work.

You, specifically, have actually decided to something equally incredible: you want to really dedicate yourself to learning a skill, and what better way than an apprenticeship? Formal or informal, you're under someone's tutelage, absorbing everything they can teach, growing closer to them in the process...

...unfortunately, though, you've gained a little something extra with that bite from the fruit of knowledge. You've fallen for your mentor.

Do you realize this pitfall immediately, or will you have to learn the hard way?

  • Comment with your character, preferences, what role you'd like them to fill, and any information you'd like to include.
  • Like it says up there, the situation or setup can be strict or loose, and there may or may not be an age difference involved. Be specific in your preferences.
  • Thread.

the fake dating meme

listen up, check your texts: you've got (1) new mission:

Yes, you hate them/are friends with them/have a fully platonic relationship with them. Yes, yes.

Well. Not anymore. Some mission or task you're supposed to do now requires the pair of you to be in a fake relationship. So yeah, you've got to call them 'baby', you've got to hold their hand, dear lord, yes you might even have to kiss them. Suck it up, and think of England.

PROMPTS! )

Every Repost is a Repost Repost
One Wrong Attraction
From the moment you first set eyes on them, you've been drawn - but this is no meet-cute. They are completely unavailable to you: they're sworn to a duty, already spoken for (by someone powerful or evil, no doubt), precious cargo, a caged bird kept away from prying eyes, a possession of a wicked creature. Whatever the case, they are off-limits. The problem is...they are struck by you, too.

Will you fight your feelings, or will you free them so they can be with you? Either way, there's a high probability of it all going up in flames.

HOW TO PLAY
  • Comment with your character, preferences, role, and any other information to make you more taggable.
  • Reply to others.
  • RNG if desired.
  • This meme is slightly inspired by this trope, but the setting can be anywhere and the genre anything.

WHO
  1. Caged: You're the victim here, kept locked away.
  2. Taken: You're in a relationship - consensual or otherwise - so you should only have eyes for one. That's not exactly the case...
  3. Passerby: Here you are, minding your own business, when - who's that? Why are they there?
  4. Rescuer: Whether you're a knight in shining armor type or someone simply paid or commanded to do this job, you never thought you'd fall for the one you had to rescue.
  5. Conflict of Interest: You're a guard, but you can't very well do your duty if you want the person you're guarding let go.
  6. Unknowing Villain: You had no idea your allies were keeping someone and you don't agree with their methods.
  7. Enemies: They did wrong by you in the past; even they don't deserve this, though.
  8. Should Be Reviled: Your people and theirs have never gotten along. You should hate them, yet you don't. You want to save them.
  9. Who's the Monster?: They're being locked away because they're a monster. No one could be further from a beast in your eyes, however.
  10. Never Felt Before: Usually, you're stone cold, but their plight has gotten under your skin.
  11. In this Together: Both of you are prisoners, so you can't easily save them, can you?
  12. Not All Bad: They're been told that they're being protected. You want to show them the outside world isn't so bad.
  13. The Better Devil: To be honest, you're not much better than their captor. Still, you're something new.

HOW
  1. Plot and Plan: You know busting them out won't be easy, so you'll put your mind to it.
  2. Sneak: It's an old-fashion escape with all the subtleties and espionage to get out undetected.
  3. Fight Anyone: Maybe you're more brawn than brains, or maybe you're just in a tight spot.
  4. Bargain: Their freedom for yours. Seems like a fair trade.
  5. Guilt: You can't really free them, can you? This fact tears you up inside.
  6. Give You Hope: You might not be able to get them out of here now, but you'll keep them looking towards the future.
  7. Keep You Happy: You'd do anything to see them smile again.
  8. Be Healthy: They're being mistreated or ill-fed. You can at least try to remedy that.
  9. Saved Themselves: They only needed an extra push. At the end, they pulled themself out of the pit.
  10. Selfish: No denying it, you freed them for selfish reasons.
  11. Selfless: What you want doesn't matter. Their safety and peace are paramount.
  12. Sacrifice: If need be, you'll put your life on the line.
  13. Used You: They didn't really love you. But they did know you'd be useful.
  14. Failure: Your attempt failed and now both of you are looking death in the eyes.
  15. I'll Steal You: They didn't want to leave their "home." You stole them away.
  16. Indebted Friends: So they weren't romantically attracted to you. They, however, did platonically bond with you.
  17. Finally "Together": You've wanted to touch them, hold them, kiss them, and be with them in every way possible, even if it's only for a moment. The smut option.
  18. Happy Endings: You're both safe, far from danger, and together.

The Road

Maybe you’ve always been traveling this road. Maybe you just started. But, either way, now you have a companion. They say it’s not about the destination, it’s the journey. Now you’re going to have to find out.

1. Post-apocalyptic. There’s not much left of the world out there. But there’s still this road, and at the end of it, they say, there’s a haven.
2. Epic fantasy. It’s a long and winding road, through forests and plains, and all manner of treacherous fairies and giant spiders along the way. Supposedly, at the end of it there’s a castle, a dragon, and a treasure.
3. Yellow brick road! A journey through a world weird and wonderful, and at the end, if you’re lucky, is a way back home.
4. Road trip! Route 66, cheap motels, diners, small-town America and the open highway.
5. The Eternal Commute. Welcome to hell. Or New Jersey. Either way, really. The two of you are stuck in this car, in traffic, and you’re getting nowhere. Eventually, one day, you’re going to get to your destination.
6. Wilderness road. Maybe you’re lost, or stranded, or this is all you’ve ever known. All you know is there’s only one road in all this wilderness, and if you’re ever going to get back to civilisation, you’re going to have to follow it.
7. Shangri-La. You’ve heard a rumour about this road. It goes somewhere. Somewhere special. El Dorado. Atlantis. Camelot. But if you ever want to get there, you’re going to have to follow the road. Don’t stray.
8. WILDCARD
