From the moment you first set eyes on them, you've been drawn - but this is no meet-cute. They are completely unavailable to you: they're sworn to a duty, already spoken for (by someone powerful or evil, no doubt), precious cargo, a caged bird kept away from prying eyes, a possession of a wicked creature. Whatever the case, they are off-limits. The problem is...they are struck by you, too.
Will you fight your feelings, or will you free them so they can be with you? Either way, there's a high probability of it all going up in flames.
HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character, preferences, role, and any other information to make you more taggable.
- Reply to others.
- RNG if desired.
- This meme is slightly inspired by this trope, but the setting can be anywhere and the genre anything.
WHO
- Caged: You're the victim here, kept locked away.
- Taken: You're in a relationship - consensual or otherwise - so you should only have eyes for one. That's not exactly the case...
- Passerby: Here you are, minding your own business, when - who's that? Why are they there?
- Rescuer: Whether you're a knight in shining armor type or someone simply paid or commanded to do this job, you never thought you'd fall for the one you had to rescue.
- Conflict of Interest: You're a guard, but you can't very well do your duty if you want the person you're guarding let go.
- Unknowing Villain: You had no idea your allies were keeping someone and you don't agree with their methods.
- Enemies: They did wrong by you in the past; even they don't deserve this, though.
- Should Be Reviled: Your people and theirs have never gotten along. You should hate them, yet you don't. You want to save them.
- Who's the Monster?: They're being locked away because they're a monster. No one could be further from a beast in your eyes, however.
- Never Felt Before: Usually, you're stone cold, but their plight has gotten under your skin.
- In this Together: Both of you are prisoners, so you can't easily save them, can you?
- Not All Bad: They're been told that they're being protected. You want to show them the outside world isn't so bad.
- The Better Devil: To be honest, you're not much better than their captor. Still, you're something new.
HOW
- Plot and Plan: You know busting them out won't be easy, so you'll put your mind to it.
- Sneak: It's an old-fashion escape with all the subtleties and espionage to get out undetected.
- Fight Anyone: Maybe you're more brawn than brains, or maybe you're just in a tight spot.
- Bargain: Their freedom for yours. Seems like a fair trade.
- Guilt: You can't really free them, can you? This fact tears you up inside.
- Give You Hope: You might not be able to get them out of here now, but you'll keep them looking towards the future.
- Keep You Happy: You'd do anything to see them smile again.
- Be Healthy: They're being mistreated or ill-fed. You can at least try to remedy that.
- Saved Themselves: They only needed an extra push. At the end, they pulled themself out of the pit.
- Selfish: No denying it, you freed them for selfish reasons.
- Selfless: What you want doesn't matter. Their safety and peace are paramount.
- Sacrifice: If need be, you'll put your life on the line.
- Used You: They didn't really love you. But they did know you'd be useful.
- Failure: Your attempt failed and now both of you are looking death in the eyes.
- I'll Steal You: They didn't want to leave their "home." You stole them away.
- Indebted Friends: So they weren't romantically attracted to you. They, however, did platonically bond with you.
- Finally "Together": You've wanted to touch them, hold them, kiss them, and be with them in every way possible, even if it's only for a moment. The smut option.
- Happy Endings: You're both safe, far from danger, and together.

Okay, so Yuu had managed to do this successfully at least once before. But it's still always risky in going right to the underground. It brings back memories he would rather not think about. But he wasn't about to just leave Nike and anyone else that might have also been taken hostage to their fate. Not without even attempting to help save them. With or without anyone else's help.
Somehow, he's lucky in that he isn't spotted on the way to finding her, and he's easily enough able to break her out. He's just not sure if such luck will hold in getting her out from here. He reaches, tugging at her hand to lead her along back the way he had come, telling her to try keep quiet.]

Needless to say, she was successful in saving the younger children, but it was a heavy cost to pay as she witness the death of her own comrades and another handful having been taken away. Now, why was she allowed to live and be taken away was a mystery that left her uneasy. It couldn't be a fortunate coincidence, right?
Whatever the case, she won't learn the reason as Yuu came to her rescue. It startled her to find him there, but relieved all at once. Maybe even angry over the fact he was needlessly putting himself in danger for her. She would have told him as much, but decided to obey and follow him instead. Allowing him to save her, as odd as it sounded because she hated the damsel role, but she trusted Yuu. Completely. She'll tighten her grip on his hand to show her faith. He was someone very precious to her. How can she not have as much faith and trust in him as she does?]

Which is exactly what he is trying to do. In attempting to lead her and any children out as best and quietly as he can. But of course, it's only a matter of time before the vampires notice. Which is exactly what happens, making Yuu pause and hold out an arm in front of her, to stop her when he thinks he hears something.]

Either way, there may be a small group of three or four children following closely behind Nike once they reach a certain corner. She'll step back, leaning down to hold the children closely as an attempt to keep them calm and quiet all at once. A hand will be on his mid-back, as a sign that she was there and asking him to be careful in her own silent way. She didn't want him to fight alone like this, but she was going to try her best to support him if anything goes wrong. Somehow, someway. The idea of abandoning him wasn't an option even if she has company to protect. After arriving to the underground base, she is absolutely certain the vampires may not harm the children, so if it came down to it she will sacrifice herself if it meant giving Yuu time to recover and fight. Only if it came down to it, of course. Just the idea of Yuu being killed by a vampire, it somehow didn't sit well with her. Then again, the very idea of Yuu being killed while she remained alive in this type of world frightened her more than she cared to admit.]

[It's barely a whisper, to try not entirely give them away, as Yuu concentrates on the approaching footsteps. Because of course he's determined to make sure she and the kids get out safe. If possible. Otherwise this was all for nothing. Coming back here again.
But he of course barely has time to react before the vampire closes in. Before he goes to draw Ashuramaru but drops the weapon once he's hit around the head. Hard. Enough to make him stumble back into Nike and almost pass out. Of course, they knew who he was. They knew about the previous experiments on him and wanted to use him to their advantage, rather than the military or just Yuu himself unleashing that against them. They wanted Yuu back. Alive. That didn't mean they couldn't make him stay by force. More than that, if they took care of him, they hardly expected Nike or the children to put up much if any of a fight.]

Everything afterwards happened so quickly, she didn't have time to keep up with it or even form any time of plan. All she could do was push the children away as she catches Yuu. The force was powerful enough to have her almost lose her own balance entirely; it was more than enough to have her walk back until she falls on her bum.]
Yuu! Are you okay!? Yuu! [She'll shake him as she calls for him. Trying to regain his consciousness. Anything to get him awake. She'll glare at the vampires as venomously as she can. It was clear she'll never forgive them if they took him from her.] Bastards! The lot of you! How could you hurt him and take the children away? Aren't we, adults, enough? They don't need to suffer! They're just children!
[Even though she was technically a minor, herself, she was one of the few in charge of one of the small human refugee groups. Although most people didn't stay around once the military happen to show up, Nike made it her duty to protect as many as she can. How can she consider herself to be a child when she had a duty to protect others?]
Please let these children go! I don't mind staying. Just....don't hurt them. Don't hurt Yuu neither! Let him return these children home, please! [All said as she wonders if she could somehow reach for his weapon or distract them. Somehow!]

I'm not going to kill him, if that's what you're worried about. He's too important for that. You and the kids can go if you really want. But since this one so kindly waltzed right back to us, we're keeping him. He's worth ten of all of you, if not more.
[In spite of himself, recalling his conversations with Mika about the seraph gene and experiments, Yuu tenses at that. Having a pretty good idea of just why they have such interest in him. The same as the humans and their military - the seraph gene. To experiment with it, or at least, not allow him back to the military so the other side could make use of it again.
The children seem terrified, unsure what to do now Yuu is hurt. But possibly almost hopeful if they might be allowed to leave, gathered behind Nike, stepping back as she supports Yuu.]
Fine. I'll go. But you have to let Nike and the others leave.
[The vampire looks surprised, but then smiles, barely restraining a laugh at that. How stupidly noble of the brat.]

And yet Hanzo's emergency beacon (which he swore he would never use, because he's not a part of Overwatch, he just came here to talk to Genji and Dr. Ziegler) goes off, a little five-second blip that's immediately shut off. Athena notes that usually means it's been destroyed - but of course, she noticed it.
Genji is the first one to offer to go retrieve Hanzo, but the beacon went off in what they know to have heavy Talon activity, in a part of South Korea. It's Hana who offers to go with Genji. Hana lives in South Korea, and so the cover of a trip would be easy for her to go to. She can smuggle Genji in in her MEKA. Maybe the technology will even lure some Talon operatives out of hiding.
Winston doesn't seem keen on it, but it's all they have. Hiding in plain sight should work for them, though he tells Tracer and Pharah to stay on Honshu, a quick slipflight over if they need them. Hana hides Genji in her MEKA easily, and she lands in Busan, travels to Changwon, tweeting about it and chattering with fans who show up in the area.
She knows Talon is watching, so she acts like nothing is going on. She acts the perfect cover of celebrity as Genji locates where the beacon is, where Hanzo is.
And, in the cover of night, it is Genji and a stealth-running Hana in her carbon MEKA suit that find Hanzo. Or rather, Hana finds Hanzo, strung up in a warehouse while Genji runs her interference.
"You sure don't like making things easy, do you, old man?" She says this last part in Korean, even knowing he doesn't understand it, as she uses the MEKA to scan for nearby enemies.

Seeing Hana is a relief. He could feel the steps of her MEKA through the vibrations in the floor, heard the noise of his brother swiftly taking out enemies. They came for him. Hanzo shouldn't be surprised but there's no denying how his eyes widen when she pushes through the the entrance. There Overwatch is.
They're here for him. Him, who cannot escape on his own. Talon took his legs, they took his bow, they took his quiver. All Hanzo has are scraps, remaining strips of fabric across his body. His tattoos are clear to see, rising up his arm and down his pecs, spread across his ribs and down to his hip. The tattoo is abruptly cut off by where his legs end, just above the knee, but it is obvious they once went further down. His hair is down, draped thickly across his shoulders, barely hiding the bruises where Talon tried and then decided against breaking his collarbone.

It's clean, so far - Genji is handling the enemies, well, handily, and so Hana steps forward. She's loud in her MEKA, but getting out of it is dangerous. Still, she doesn't want to risk pellet spread on Hanzo.
She pops open the hood of her MEKA, taking her gun out and firing three times, in rapid succession, where his hands are tied above his head. The restraints break, and she uses her other hand to push one arm of the mech forward, catching Hanzo between the gun and the wall.
She knows he doesn't have his legs. She can see that, after all. His prosthetics are gone, and while she's not thinking of him as immobile - they'll move quicker if she carries him.
"Do you know where they took your stuff?" Stuff, such a generic word for his weapons and legs.
