inspired by Outlander, Inuyasha, Fushigi Yuugi, and all those Lord of the Rings fanfics you claim you didn't write.
You consider yourself a modern person. True, you may not be on the cusp of technology and trends, but you are a product of your time. You benefit from the medicine, conveniences, and social mores of where - and when - you're from. Still, the timing of your birth doesn't completely define you, does it?
You're about to find out.
What happens to you shouldn't be possible, yet that doesn't mean it's not true. You've found yourself fallen backwards in time, much, much further back before you were born. Before your parents, your grandparents, your great-grandparents were born, maybe before your family tree was even planted. Whether you're in someplace familiar, like feudal Japan or the highlands of Scotland, or a place you're sure must be made up, like Middle Earth, Hyrule, or Westeros, the fact of the matter is that you're in a total throwback, all by your lonesome. Things in the past are not at all the way they've portrayed on television and in fiction. Where's all the glamor? The beautiful costumes? The Oscar-award winning lighting? Not here, it seems. Life in the past is hard.
Hopefully, you'll meet up with someone who can be your "guide," so to speak, even if you keep tight-lipped about your status as a future-dweller. Or, on the other hand, you could be the poor soul just trying to live their life in the only place they've ever know, only to be saddled with someone who's strange in every way. In any case, the two of you are from completely different worlds. And what's that about differences? We're scared of that...but, maybe, also intrigued. In fact, you might actually find a connection with the strange, unknown, the exotic. Certainly, there may be some tension between you; will it be purely sexual or romantic, though? And as far as sex goes - sure, older time periods have some sexual hangups, yet you may find something raw and untamed in the classics. You can also try to teach a old dog some new, modern tricks.
Your experience might not be so pretty, however. Remember, the dark ages were dark for a reason. You could find yourself an indentured servant, the unwilling spouse of a cruel royal, in a harem, or a plaything to those who capture you. There's also the omnipresent threat of changing the future should you shift the past just so.
Good or bad, your experiences mean little in the face of one constant: you must get back home.
how to play
- Comment with your character, whether they'll be from the future or the one in the past, and any preferences.
- Already play a character from a period or fantasy period canon? Good, you've got your role. You're set to go!
- But should you want to AU or reverse roles or do anything else, feel free to do so. If you want to play Tony Stark as a member of House Stark and Steve Rogers coming back in time from World War II, be my guest.
- Speaking of, just because I focused on the far past doesn't mean you have to. Do any time period.
- You might also want to include a short blurb with info to make yourself easier to tag for people who aren't canon familiar, but its not required.
- Reply to others.
- RNG for prompt.
