(I Met You) Once Upon a Dream

Dreams are complicated and amazing, aren't they? They can be fascinating, fantastical, boring, scary, comforting. You can meet people that are gone from your life, there, or even - sometimes - dream of people who you don't know, yet.

So this is just it. Meeting in a dream.

Warning: some of the prompts can be better avoided by the younger crowd, for sexual, violent, or body horror reasons.

How to Play
- Comment with your character and preferences.
- Reply to others.
- Have fun.
- Make sure you leave people a way out. It may be a dream, but don't tag into a stranger's open prompt with something that might be explicitly disturbing or way too intimate without checking in with them, first.

Prompts

There are two major categories.
I. In a dream.
II. After you wake up.

They have different prompts, but you're free to mix and match as desired - and the prompts are merely suggestions, after all. Go wild!

I. In a dream.

A. Kind of dream.
1. Mundane
2. Fluffy
3. Hot
4. Sad
5. Nightmare
6. Fantastical
7. Free for your imagination.

B. Kind of meeting.
1. You know them in life. You meet them normally - friends, allies, acquaintances, coworkers...
2. They were once part of your life, but they're not, any longer. Left for good, you fought, they're no longer living...
3. Strangers.
4. Enemy! Defend yourself! Or maybe reach a truce.
5. Free for your imagination.

C. Kind of dream experience.
1. You are as you are in the waking dream - same gender, abilities, etc.
2. You're enhanced - you can do things you don't, when awake, like flight or supernatural strength or knowing a different language, or something else that you normally lack.
3. You're depowered - whether you have special abilities and they don't work in the dream, or you're lacking something else that you usually have - sight, mobility, speech...
4. You're physically changed - different gender, different race...
5. You're a different age - younger or older.
6. Free for your imagination.

II. After you wake up.
A. Kind of dream.
1. It was a lovely dream. You have a great feeling that stays with you after it.
2. It was a horrible dream. Nightmare, or it just went on and on...
3. It was a confusing dream. You're not sure how to feel about it.
4. You don't really remember much about it. But you think there was something...
5. Free for your imagination.

B. Kind of an encounter.
1. Expected - bedfellow, roommate, friend, colleague, and you get to tell them about the dream.
2. New - you met that person in the dream! Or they're just a stranger you feel like you should share the dream with.
3. Impossible - how is that person even there?
4. Enemy - why them? Why now?
5. Free for your imagination.

C. Anything else you want!

Jane did not understand what was going on. All she knew was that she was being chased by something with very big teeth and even bigger claws, and she was terrified.

She was running down a seemingly endless labyrinth of corridors. She took a left, just as she'd taken the last left, thinking she couldn't go left forever without getting somewhere, and ran smack into someone. She fell backwards onto her ass with a yelp and looked up. A very tall someone. And pretty cute, too. But there was the whole matter of the monster behind her.

[This is not a nightmare, when it starts out. It's a usual kind of dream, the kind of lucid dream that Eames can control.

Right up until the point where it's not.

It begins with the edges. The edges curl in on themselves, people start to look like they are less people and something more like monsters, but then when Eames looks at them they're people again, the tentacles that rolls out of their mouths no longer there, their hair normal again, their skin not cracked and green or gray.

And then it moves away from the edges, the landscape fragmenting, cracking, until all that's left is a man in a pair of slim white jeans and a plain white shirt, smoking a cigarette. His glasses are dark, they cover his eyes.]

You make messes where you shouldn't.

"Hello?" she called, wondering who he was and how he'd gotten there and, most importantly, if he knew where everyone else had gone.

Looking down into the pond he could see his own reflection staring back at him. Two green eyes and all of his hair black. So this was a dream then. Could be nothing else.

Well just standing around would lead to nothing at all. He could as well explore the forest. After all it wasn't that often he had the change to be surrounded with this many trees. Sticking around desert or other places with low vegetation he was used to. New places could be interesting, even dreamed up ones.]

[ While it might be strange that Morgiana didn't sleep well when the others did, it's not as if they really knew that. The girl was good at keeping everyone at a distance when it came to her own problems, if they just so happened to look her way. Fortunately she didn't have to worry too much about it: there were several other things to keep them busy as well as prettier girls which is why she can be found perched on the ceiling tonight.

See, when Alibaba invited another women into his chambers (read: was dragged off by another one of her sisters, Morgiana took it upon herself to make sure nothing ill was going to happen. There will be no secret assassination attempts or anything else of the nature... except she's noticed he's sleeping alone.

Couldn't even keep a lady in his bed for an entire night, sheesh Alibaby!!!!

ANYWAY, when he comes to (if he ever comes to), there's his girl up on the ceiling. How she's managed to not fall down all this time is something short of a miracle, but if he looks hard enough in the dark he might be able to see those darkening circles under her eyes. ]
