"Can You Handle Your Emotions?"

Emotions are... eh. We all have them, whether we want to or not. Some people have control over their emotions, and some people let their emotions control them. Where does your character fall on this spectrum? More importantly, what's their relationship with their emotions like? Do they bury everything deep, deep down inside, or are they the first one to cry over a sappy movie? Do they even know how they feel about what's going on inside? Pretty meta stuff.

• No blank top-levels.
• Instead, characters are to respond to the proposed question: can you handle your emotions? / are you in touch with your feelings?
• Get deep. Look within. Hear, think feel... or don't.

[ Something in Renji's bristled posture unwinds at Kiyoaki's tone, and his reply doesn't sound nearly as indifferent as before. ]

There's always the chance to grow, long as you're still breathing.

[oldwarsfinished]

( While this would probably sound uplifting to most, it only makes Kiyoaki's posture slump slightly, his gaze becoming faraway. )

And when you stop?

( If there's a grain of hope in his voice, he guards it like something priceless. )

[ After a pause, Renji adds: ] Physically anyway.

[ Kinda hard to gain an inch when you're dead! And fingernails and hair don't actually grow either, it's all the result of dehydration. That's a science fact for the kids out there. ]

But otherwise, even when you stop, yeah.

[oldwarsfinished]

( A scoff. Kiyoaki should have been a better student. He left that to Honda, Honda would have known these things, right? Turning his gaze on the other man, he raises both eyebrows slightly, mock surprise. )

You make high demands of the dead, you know.

[bonecannon]

[ Renji raises his hands, mock defensiveness. ]

Hey, I don't make the rules. I just enforce 'em.

You got a problem with it, get to growing while you're still alive. Then you can kick back when you're dead.

( He gets in return a nonchalant stretch, both arms over his head-kind. Giving the other man a pointed look, shoulders coming down, Kiyoaki replies wryly: )

You'll be there, so I'd be a fool to count on that. Unless you plan on growing a new attitude.

[ Renji returns the pointed look with one of his own, which signals a return to that easy, breezy, slightly acerbic rhythm that he's far more comfortable in. ]

Tch, don't count on it. This one's been serving me just fine for the last couple decades.

[oldwarsfinished]

Really?

( He doesn't look disbelieving exactly. But he doesn't doesn't look disbelieving, exactly. )

Helps me deal with certain kinds of mouthy brats, at least.

[ The pointed look is, if anything, pointier. ]

[oldwarsfinished]

( 'Mouthy brat', huh? Kiyoaki's eyes narrow briefly, then he shrugs as if untouched. Mostly. Maybe a little bit stiffly. A little bit irritated. )

Do you think you can you call me that, when I don't know how old you are by comparison?

( He can venture a guess. He's more interested in how many centuries he'd be off, that's all. Besides, it's the principle of fairness again, Renji. )

[bonecannon]

Yeah, I do.

[ Now isn't this cute. It seems that young men, no matter what dimension they're in, cannot tolerate a dimunitive. ]

Wanna take a guess? I'll give you a candy if you're within a decade.

[oldwarsfinished]

( Kiyoaki could tell him to keep his candy, but instead he turns slightly towards the other man, gaze running up and down him once. Then again. He can't help that he's just been given an excuse for staring, can he? )

All right. ( He crosses his arms over his chest, purses his lips. ) Don't blame me if you suddenly feel old, however...

( His eyes dart from the shinigami's hair to his brows, shoulders, hands... If he'd been from his own world, he'd have guessed him near Iinuma's age, but what that equalled in his own? No idea. )

Two- ( The draw of his chin is stubborn. As if he - as with most ofther things - is taking this a little too seriously. ) -hundred and forty?

[ If Renji is preening under his scrutiny, it's in a very manly and cool way that shows that he is both gifted with the wisdom of age, but also still very hip and with it. Puffing up his chest and shaking his ponytail like a prized show horse and looking all smug, a cat that got the canary. Or a dog that's got the cat that got the canary. These are a lot of animal descriptors.

Here's one more: Renji hears the guess and freezes like a deer in the headlights. He had been warned... but that doesn't take the sting out of such an outrageous number any less. ]

T.......

Two hundred?!! [ And forty!! Kiyoaki can say goodbye to his candy! ]

I seem that old to you?!!
