All I want for Christmas is you
![]() |
![]() ...or something like that. The winter can be cold and lonely, but if you have someone to share it with, it can be the most wonderful time of the year. This meme is pretty simple and straightforward: shippy situations for all your cold-weather needs. From the cute to the hot to the sweet to the cool, it's all here for you. Don't be shy! Get your Christmastime/holiday wonder on and tag someone completely new! It's like a gift you didn't know you wanted! ![]() -Comment with your character. Include information and preferences. There are two sets of prompts, G-rated and R-rated, so put whichever ones you're okay with somewhere in your comments so nobody tries to give you anything you're uncomfortable with. -Comment to other characters, using the RNG to determine the prompt. Or just wing it! -Have fun threading out your winter love! -Play nice and respect others. ![]() 1. Date: Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean you're stuck indoors. Go out and do something! Maybe this weather means the restaurants won't be so packed... 2. Ice Skating: Get on your feet and do some ice dancing! Hopefully, at least one of you knows what to do. 3. Playing in the Snow: It's not just for little kids. Make snow angels, snowmen, or indulge in a snowball fight! You can always warm up together afterwards. 4. Shopping: With some company, holiday shopping can be a bit more bearable. Unless, of course, one of you was dragged along against your will. 5. Baking: Cookies, cakes, pies, and candy! This is the season for making sweets, and two sets of hands are better than one. Then, enjoy your hard work. 6. Holiday Confession: Sure, it's not as traditional as a Valentine's Day confession, but telling someone you care for them around the holidays can be just as romantic. 7. Gift Giving: Show someone how much you love them by giving them a gift...or whatever it is that you picked up last minute at the gas station. 8. Warming Up: Snuggles and cuddles are the best way to get warmed up after a long day in the snow. Good thing you have your honey to give you some body heat. 9. Home for the Holidays: You haven't seen each other in a while, and you're finally 10. Mistletoe: Whether it's your first kiss or the kiss you share on your fiftieth anniversary, the mistletoe always gives you a chance. 11. Last Christmas: For whatever reason, it's your last holiday season together. Make it count! 12. Proposal: Surrounded by all your family and friends or just the two of you in front of a space heater: whatever the situation, now's the perfect time to pop that all important question. ![]() 1. Eggnog: Enjoy something a bit more grown up than just Christmas cookies. Of course, alcohol can make you more honest and more handsy. 2. A Bun in the Oven: The oven isn't the only thing that's getting turned on today. Find a new use for that whipped cream or maybe get into some foodplay. 3. Warming Up Another Way: You're just so, so cold. There's only one activity that can get your blood pumping. Maybe your life even depends on it... 4. One Blanket: The classic fanfic trope. The two of you have to share one blanket, and that kind of contact may make you want to share more. 5. Temperature Play: While heat is nice, the cool can put your senses to the test, and using a little ice or snow to liven up your love life can put your nerves and kinks to the test. 6. Dick in a Box: You couldn't think of a good enough gift, so you're offering up the gift of your lovin' instead. 7. Aphrodisiac Mistletoe: This mistletoe is a bit different than its tamer cousin. Aphrodisiac mistletoe makes whoever is under it want to fuck...hard, whether it be at your parents' house or the office Christmas party. 8. Naughty or Nice: So have you been a good boy or girl this year? If not, you'll get punished. Of course, Santa may not be able to come, so your lover will step in to dole out the "coal." 9. Reindeer Games: For your gift, you may have gotten some new "toys" you want to try out. Luckily, you have such a nice partner... 10. Just Love: Nothing kinky or overly sexy here. The two of you are inside on a cold day, and you just want to be together. Throw some logs on the fire and have a romantic evening by the fireplace. If you want to get really fancy, throw down a few furs and lay naked on them. 11. Thank You: Thank you notes for gifts are so cliche. Tell your significant other that you love your diamond ring another way. |
So, let's try something 'real' this time XD
"Now, I want you to just sit there and listen. Because..."
Well, because he doesn't know how to say it, so he's going to play it. And since we don't actually have a "River's Theme", This will have to do.
Ok! Btw, River does have a theme.. ish! Youtube 'River's theme' - it's predominant in series 6!
[OOC: Shall we set this after the end of the Christmas ep.. ? I'd go into more detail but don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen the ep yet!]
"Husbands of River Song" Spoilers likely in this thread. Also tears, maybe.
"Well, I thought all of it was a surprise. But you've cheated, so maybe not."
[ooc: works for me. Also, there's no song titled "River's Theme", though, which is what I usually use for such things. But after last night, there might be one. XD
Definitely tears.
"Oh, believe me, darling, nothing has been a bigger surprise than this." His new incarnation, him taking her to Darillium, the sonic screwdriver. There are not many men who can surprise River Song, but he most certainly can.
"You've never played for me before - I wonder what other talents you've picked up in this body!" Her smile says it all.
[OOC: I considered this to be pretty synonymous with River! They use it in a lot of her major scenes.]
We're terrible.
"Well, you're choices until now have been the recorder or the spoons. Somehow, I don't think you'd have been as impressed nor appreciated either of those."
And her comment about other talents goes a bit over his head. Touching isn't really a thing for him. He has to really work at it. And after being alone for so many years, well, he's a bit back to square one when it comes to the touching issue.
[OOC: I can see that as well. I do think they used the Library Theme several times last night. Though who am I kidding, what older themes didn't get used last night?]
no subject
Setting her chin on her hand, she regards him a moment longer, letting out a content sigh as though releasing the stress of their rather busy day. "So then.. twenty four years, hm?"
[OOC: Yeah, I think they played the Library theme during the sonic screwdriver scene!]
no subject
He refuses to age. He might look more his age, but he only feels two-thousand, rather than the four point five billion he remembers. He leans across the table and offers a little shrug.
"Well, you know how parts of the Earth can go dark for six or more months at a go? It's a bit like that. The tilting of the axis takes a bit longer here."
Not at all what she was asking, but it's what he's comfortable answering, so. There you go.
[It was also used briefly when she was standing on the ramp to the space ship :)]
no subject
She looks at him, studying him, before she sits back in her seat, knowing better than to push him too far. He's already said so much tonight - or if he hasn't said it outright, made it clear in other ways. She knows he can only handle such moments in small doses.
"You know, I'm suddenly in the mood for seafood," she says airily, an offhand dig at the recently-deceased waiter, Flemming.
no subject
Which is an equally offhand dig at her not-husband or maybe the Shoal of the Winter Harmony. He picks up the menus and hands one to her. He opens his own and looks at it. He will actually eat tonight. Might even sleep. Though, that might be tricky. He's still adjusting to being able to sleep more than 75 minutes at a go, which was the longest he would allow himself to sleep in the Dial. Four point five billion years on repeat is a hell of a rut to break.
But one step at a time. Food.
"If you're serious about fish, you should try the Dopterian Pacific Cod and Bitterleaf with Antican Milk. That said, I think I'm going to try the Talaxian Leaf and Celtuce with Koinanian Roast."
no subject
At his recommendations, she makes a noise of consideration. "Well, we'll be here long enough to try everything a hundred times over, I should think," she jokes lightly. "But that does sound good." She disappears behind the menu for a moment longer. "Oh, look! They have the Blue Alzani steak here? Do you remember when we almost got trampled in that stampede?"
no subject
He hums in reply, trying to sound distracted, as if he hadn't heard her, being overly focused on his menu.

no subject
"I asked you to not worry."
no subject
"I'm your wife. It's my job to worry." It's an attempt at the usual joking flippancy she often displays, as much as a performance as the ones he likes to throw up. Her smile wavers and she looks ahead at the Towers again, taking a deep breath before she goes on a little closer to the truth.
"It's hard not to, seeing those last few pages in my diary. I always wondered just how much time we had left."
no subject
"River, we're off the pages of your book. Twenty-four years. I certainly hope we'll have more experiences than a few pages can hold."
He needs her to understand this. Because he doesn't believe for one second she was just buying time with her talk of how she didn't think he loved her. The robot's scan proved it. Besides, he's heard similar before. And it's when people haven't understood those very things about him that problems happened.
"You were wrong, though."
He turns slightly and gestures to the setting sun.
"Sunsets do admire us."
He turns back to face her.
"Not always in ways we can understand or appreciate. But it doesn't mean that it's not there."
Because talking about himself using her words is somehow easier.
no subject
When he gestures to the horizon, she turns to look again, taking a deep breath as she watches those remaining rays lower behind the ancient monolith, making it look all the more beautiful.
His words are touching, but she smiles uncertainly, not yet looking back at him. "Why would something as magnificent as a sunset.. ever admire someone as small as me?" She slowly looks back to him, those shining eyes searching his face, a vulnerable truth to her words that she's never spoken before. She's hidden it from him for so long, never let him know what she believes about their marriage. They are words she would never have said on that ship, had she known the Doctor was within earshot.
no subject
Because they are words she's already spoken of herself.
"You are Professor River Song. You are the woman who has witnessed so much stolen through the years. And you're the woman who stole it all back."
And he's not talking about artefacts. He's talking about himself. All the ways she saved him over the years.
"Those who see themselves as tiny, they know more than the monoliths and sunsets and the stars. They know how beautiful and precious life is because it's fleeting."
And then he says the words that he so freely gives to others in this body. Because no one should feel as he has had to feel. And certainly not someone who has saved his life.
"After all you've done - everything you know that I would never approve of - I forgive you. Always."
no subject
"I forgive you too," she whispers softly. "The things I said.. you know that doesn't change how I feel about you." She truly hope he does, because she dreads to think how those wounds might have wounded him. "I knew, when I fell in love with you, exactly what I was letting myself in for."
no subject
"Not like that. Don't say it simply because I have. Some day, you'll understand how right your words are. And only then should you decide if I am forgiven or not."
And perhaps she can tell he's no longer talking about monoliths or stars. There is a deeply painful story sitting there, just under the surface. And maybe, just a bit of his carefully held mask slips and she might be able to see that he feels he deserves all of the words she spoke.
He slowly lowers his finger from her lips and moves to stand, intending to return to his seat.
no subject
"No," she says firmly. "Don't patronise me, Doctor. I know exactly how right I am, and you're forgiven. For all of it. I fell in love with ageless god, the Time Lord who had haunted my dreams since I was born. I knew this was never going to be anything like what my parents had. But with you, I have had.. the most amazing life, and I wouldn't change it for anything." If he tries talking now, she continues anyway, overriding him, not letting him interrupt until she's said her piece. "And it doesn't matter. I don't care how you love me, or admire me - just know this. To have let me into your heart at all, even a little, is a privilege."
Gah! I can't with these two.
And she as succeeded in making him silent. He doesn't know how to express things like this in this body. He's certainly not the most physically affectionate. But, he leans his head down until their foreheads are touching. He's quiet for a long moment and when he speaks, his voice is hoarse.
"Thank you, Melody Pond."
Because it seems only right. Just this once to use her proper name.
If I thought the episode ripped out my heart, this is doing it all over again!
Their foreheads meet and her eyes close, savouring that closeness. She's realised by now that unlike his previous incarnation, he's not quite so giving with his affection and kisses, but she'll try a little harder for it. The man she loves is still there, and if he loves her at all, it'll be there in his unchanged hearts.
"Thank you," she replies, with only the smallest pause before she speaks the name he'd told her so long ago. His real name.
Seriously. We're terrible and it's beautiful.
And he just holds her for the longest time. He has to remind himself that he has twenty-four years. He doesn't need to do everything tonight or all at once. But, somehow, this just feels right.
no subject
She steps closer into his embrace, wrapping her own arms around him and laying her head to rest against his chest, listening to the double thud of his heart. Her eyes close and it's like this she wants to stay, for all of those twenty four years if she can. She feels safe and content, and even if they still haven't quite defined what it is they share - she feels loved.
Definitely the same man.

"At this rate we'll never eat. And it's been far too long. Besides after the TARDIS crashing, we should do something to keep our strength up."
They are going to be sore tomorrow from being tossed around as the ship crashed.
