Too bad he enjoys it so much when she reassures him. He really needs to get better at that, but he'll blame her. His name whispered on her lips united them in a way that he never would have thought possible.

He looks at her with great fondness and with a little bit of a smile.

"I would've questioned it if you had minded terribly."

River chuckles knowingly, dipping her head a moment while a gentle movement brings them that little closer. She takes comfort in that, a reassurance in his presence after all that's she's learnt. To know this is their last night together, she's going to cherish every minute of it.

"I look forward to it," she teases just gently, looking up at him with a similar fondness in her eyes and a touching smile to her lips.

He smiles and nods, then leans forward to gently press his lips to hers. Such touch is awkward for him in this body, but he hopes that this will be a start.

After a moment or two, he pulls away, just enough to look at her.

"I'm sure you will."

It had been somewhat uncertain, that first kiss when she arrived at the restaurant. Still reeling from the revelation on board the ship, she'd still been unsure as to where she stood with him, a matter that had soon been resolved when he gave them Darillium. But this time, she knows what it is he feels, and though his kiss is gentle and safe, she knows how much it means that he's kissing her at all.

That being said, she can't deny she doesn't instinctively lean in to him, a light touch of her hand to his cheek as she savours all that she can get. She loves him, completely and painfully, and for all her secrets, that's one thing she's never been able to hide. Slowly, she pulls back from him, eyes still closed as she smiles to herself, content.

They will be just fine, she knows.
