The Other-Wordly Meme

Words are magical things; they can have so many lovely connotations and varied histories.
Words have family trees just like people. They are linked to each other.
Some words are full of flavor and color and describe things you never suspected there were words for.
Words are why we're here.

The meme is simple: post a comment with your muse's name and canon in the subject line.
List any preferences you may have ("No Shipping," "No Smut," etc.), if you decide to leave the next step up to responders.
Responders (or original posters, if they so decide), go to the Other-Wordly blog and hit 'Random' until you get a word. Use the word as a prompt to write up an RP scenario. Do this several times, if you like. Mix and match. Have fun with it!
Don't stop with a word, though! Words can often have etymologies that are at odds with their current meanings. Words can shift connotations over time. Let your imagination carry you with the words as its wind.

[Kitahara doesn't necessarily dislike the new transfer student, but she doesn't like her, either. Their patterns are too similar. If she goes to an abandoned classroom to eat lunch in peace, without it ending up thrown on the floor or spat into by Sugawa, Tomoko is usually there first. If she feigns a sickness to escape class, she more often than not finds Tomoko in the opposite bed, there for the same reason.

Another outcast, another strange, quiet girl, although she's lucky enough to have escaped the attention of bullies...for now, at least. If this were some comic or tv drama, they'd probably end up friends. But Kitahara doesn't have friends, doesn't need friends, and doesn't want friends. She begins to go out of her way to avoid her, grinding her teeth in secret.

It isn't until a game cartridge is left behind in the classroom, swept up on cleaning duty, does she actually go looking for her for the first time. It's for some sort of portable console, and from the title, and the cover...probably one of those dating sims Nagaoka is always talking about. Disgusting.

Not that she's going to talk to her. She stay behind after school, planning to drop it in her locker, but it isn't until she's paced the hallway several times does Kitahara realize...she actually doesn't know where Tomoko's locker is.]

[When you've lived as long as the Doctor, some days just aren't very good days.

He's seen everything. Galaxies and worlds and stars, entire civilizations have passed away and no one can remember them but him. So much death, so many endings, and sometimes it's too much for one old soul.

Their last adventure hadn't ended well. They'd failed, he'd failed, and a planet had burned, killing at least 3 billion innocent lives. A primitive culture, life choked out of them before they'd even had a chance to begin. The Doctor sits alone in the library, hunched over in a chair with his head in his hands.

So many endings.

But so many beginnings, as well.

He looks up at the sound of footsteps, knowing instinctively that it's Oswin. His eyes are red, it's clear the guilt of losing a planet full of life is eating away at him.]
