The Other-Wordly Meme

Words are magical things; they can have so many lovely connotations and varied histories.
Words have family trees just like people. They are linked to each other.
Some words are full of flavor and color and describe things you never suspected there were words for.
Words are why we're here.

The meme is simple: post a comment with your muse's name and canon in the subject line.
List any preferences you may have ("No Shipping," "No Smut," etc.), if you decide to leave the next step up to responders.
Responders (or original posters, if they so decide), go to the Other-Wordly blog and hit 'Random' until you get a word. Use the word as a prompt to write up an RP scenario. Do this several times, if you like. Mix and match. Have fun with it!
Don't stop with a word, though! Words can often have etymologies that are at odds with their current meanings. Words can shift connotations over time. Let your imagination carry you with the words as its wind.

And yet somehow, I don't feel that reassured. I wonder why that is.

Why do you care so much whether or not we get along? Not everyone does.

Because you're both important to me.

[his eyebrows go up a bit, because both of them?]

And why is that?

[he means for him, obviously. He could care less about Angel.]

You're my friend, duh. [She's looking at him like it's that obvious. And if it's anything more than that...she hasn't quite admitted that much to herself just yet.]

[His eyebrows climb even higher, if that were at all possible, but his attitude softens a bit.

[She smiles, pleased at that.]

[He sighs a bit, before pushing up onto his feet.]

Why hasn't he ever tried for a daylight ring, anyway? He had to have known they existed. Given what he does, wouldn't it be better if he had something to protect him from the sun?

He had one, once. Well sort of. But a lot of other vampires wanted it and he destoryed it. Besides, he thinks there's plenty of people there to protect people in the light -- his job is to protect those in the dark, the ones who need the most saving.

I have a daylight ring and I'm practically nocturnal.

[unless he's in school, in which case, he can't be.]

And to me that just sounds like an excuse to be miserable.

The Gem of Amara wasn't like the normal daylight ring -- it'd also make whoever wore it invincible. A bad vampire had gotten his hands on it already, more would have come after it. If it fell in the wrong hands, people could get hurt.

What if he had the chance to have a normal daylight ring, like mine? Do you think he would take it?

He might. He seemed to enjoy the sunlight when we were in Pylea

[He nods slowly.]

I may know someone.

I could ask him if he's interested.

[He shrugs.]

Let me know. Consider it my peace offering.

And it's a good one. [She smiles.] Even if he says no, I appreciate it.

[He smiles back at that, before nodding.]

Honestly, if there was a candidate for a ring that my witch friend would go for more, it would be Angel.

[visiongirl]

And it would give him one less thing to mope about, something we can all be grateful for.

Exactly. Maybe he might even develop a personality.

[ ... he honestly can't help himself sometimes.]

Hey! He has a personality!
