[ Shika pauses a beat before speaking again; Maintaining a matter of fact sort of tone. ] To be specific, your hair reminds me of honey made from Acacia. They look like...little bundles of sunlight.

( it feels like a lesson out in something that she doesn't quite know what is, but it fascinates her all the same. especially at that little description near the end. her face lights up, and she sends the other girl a beaming smile. )

Sometimes. I spend a lot of my time studying plants when I travel. One of my sisters makes honey as a hobby. Insists that there’s nothing else like it, and she’s right about it.

[ A pause. ]

Have you ever had it homemade before?

No. ( a pause, then she corrects herself, apologetically. ) Maybe, yes. When I was very little. My father liked to get produce from the countryside. But if I did, I don't remember it.

( excuse her, it's been fifteen years at least. )

Oh. ( she struggles not to look too disappointed. ) Empty of what?

[He looks at her, shaping his fingers like a camera zoomer, before shuggring and throwing his hands up in a 'who the hell knows' manner.]

Can't tell right now, but maybe that's it? You're striking me as a person who's missing something, except that you haven't even figured out what that 'something' is yet! Maybe a sense? A purpose? A new favorite dish? An important interpersonal connection? The answer beats me~!

I did lose... someone. I've lost people more than once. Do you think there's a maximum of times you're allowed to lose throughout your life?

( she frowns, looking at him, at the way he's telling her: it's yours to do with what you want, what you can, without saying it directly. he doesn't need to spare her feelings. they weren't spared before. )
