THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME

In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Males have penises; females have vaginas.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

[What's meant to be a growl at the hand around his neck and Khan's dominance in the kiss comes out as more of a groan than he intends. It's both incredibly thrilling to the part of him that craves an alpha, and frustrating to the part of him that's been working to be in control of everything.

Jim shivers at the feel of teeth on his lip, and the hand keeps him neatly in place while Khan pulls back to speak.]

Yes. I understand. Now shut up and kiss me again.

[Khan has never had to control smiling into a kiss before. Sex doesn't tend to be particularly joyoys, but he is now, while he takes Kirk again and pulls him the rest of the way over, urging him to come straddle his lap while they kiss.

It's been far too long, his body supplies him, and perhaps he'll need to work on his control a little more than he thought.]

[Jim has never given much thought to controlling himself. That's what the suppressants were for. He's reminded how much stronger Khan is when the other man moves him over like he weighs nothing, but it doesn't register as even remotely alarming or worth more than a moment of consideration.

Any time he thinks about trying to assert himself, he decides against it, and instead settles onto Khan's lap. The instincts are there, and he wonders how much more intense they would be if he was in heat.]

[Heat is one thing, but Khan is entirely curious to see how Jim takes to it when he turns his head, and noses down the side of his throat. One arm slips around his waist, the other comes back to cradle the nape of his neck, holding him still and pulling him down a little so that when Khan sits up, he can find the place on his throat where he'd bit him on the bridge. He just tests the spot with his lips, first, reminding him what he could do.

A few cruel seconds of that, and then he gives in and sinks in with his teeth.]

[He fidgets a little in Khan's lap as he's moved around.]

I'm not done kissing.

[It's a weak protest, born out of his stubborn denial of his instincts. Khan nuzzling his neck makes his heart beat faster in his chest.]

Khan.

[The teasing is enough to draw the plea from Jim, although he's not entirely sure what it is he's pleading for at that moment. The bite on his neck makes Jim relax in Khan's grip. It hurts, just a little bit, but it also feels very, very good. He has to wonder why he put off coming to see Khan for so long, because suddenly the time between the bridge and now makes little sense to him.]

There you are- you're so good.

[He promises him, very quietly, before biting him again, lower on his shoulder this time, arms still right there to keep him steady as he feels him relax. This is exactly what he wants from him, and he makes carefully sure to radiate and rumble approval to him, while he continues to make good use of his skin.]

[Jim leans forward and nuzzles Khan as much as he can, and he tilts his head to the side a little bit at the next bite, inviting more. Khan is warm and solid and pleased with him, and even what little they've done so far is more enjoyable than anything Kirk's done in a long time.]

[He picks him up again, this time as he stands, because he wants to lay him out and get at every inch of him and the bedroom isn't far.

There are a lot of reasons they shouldn't be doing this, but he ignores them all and walks him to the bed, only letting his throat go long enough to lay him out on it, gently.]

Can I undress you?

[This is so strange and unfamiliar to Jim, but he doesn't tense up as he's lifted once more, still riding on the cooperative waves brought on by the neck-biting.

He lifts a hand up to run it through Khan's hair. It takes a moment for him to process the question. Not because he didn't expect to lose his clothes, but because Khan is stopping and asking his permission. It's so abundantly obvious that Khan doesn't want to overstep his bounds that it makes Jim just want him even more.]

Yeah... yes. Go ahead.

[He murmurs his approval and pleasure again, more praise as he strips him down. Shirt off, shoes, then pants, eventually succeeding in laying him out without a stitch on him. He runs appreciative hands up and down the sides of his body.]

Your biology is a gift, Jim. An extraordinary one.

[Tugging him a little closer down the bed by his hips.]

[He's not convinced that being an omega is a gift, but he can't deny that he's enjoying this far more than he expected. Some distant part of him even feels mildly embarrassed by how much he enjoys the soft words Khan is almost constantly spouting, but mostly it just builds up a strange excitement in him.]

You're over-dressed.

[He shifts cooperatively as Khan pulls him closer, eager for more touching and biting. Even now, naked, it's not abundantly obvious that Jim is an omega.]

This is where you start to learn to take a tiny bit of joy in the consensual exchange of power.

[He explains, remaining dressed, sinking down over his body and moving to nuzzle over the other side of his throat, tongue darting out before he bites once more. He intends to keep this advantage for the time being. His nails drag down Jim's ribs at the same time, faintly asserting a sort of ownership that he wants him to feel.]

[Jim is happy enough to have Khan so close to him again, even with his clothing. He turns his head to the side to expose his neck, inviting the attention. It's a new kind of pleasure each time he's bitten, and this time a short, animalistic whine escapes as Khan bites and claws him.

He rubs against Khan where he can, not at all minding the clothes in the way of the skin he very much wants to feel.]

[He drifts lower. Khan has no compunctions about bruising his chest, where he'd been a little more mindful before of his throat.

But here, over his collarbone, he can really stake a claim. He pins Jim's hips down to the bed, thumbs curling in subtly against the pressure points on either side of his groin to keep him there, and then sets to what would rather be considered a mauling, in this day and age.]

[Between the hands holding him down and the bites to his neck, Jim can only writhe and grab weakly at Khan. It hurts, but damn if he isn't also enjoying it, his heart hammering in his chest.

He's definitely going to have marks from that, and Jim spends a moment trying to remember if there's anything in the near future which might involve other people seeing them before he gives up and decides he doesn't care.]

When you heat, it's like this, but a hundred times more. Your skin is alight with fire and the only real thing becomes the pressure of hands, skin and teeth. Your mind flies adrift, your hormones burn so hot you can't eat. Left unsatiated it can be like a belly full of glass, but when satiation comes, when someone strong enough and tender enough comes and gives you what you need, it's pure euphoria, sexual bliss that slides along the knife-edge of pain, which you're clearly already familiar with.

[Since he's giving up so beautifully for him now. Since he can't bite him while he talks, he reaches up to curl a hand around his cock, stroking slowly.]

You learn everything your body is capable of, you cut right to the quick of your own mind and soul and face your innermost self.

[Khan's voice is low and soothing in the wake of such vicious biting, and Jim decides to give the idea of experiencing heat serious thought. Later. Right now he's busy letting out a groan and pushing up against a hand that's moving way too slow.]

I don't think I've ever heard anyone make sex sound like religion before.

[The mix of savagery and tenderness leaves him off balance, but he's already surrendered to Khan.]

Yes. Humans have lost so much, while I slept.

[He reaches down, rubbing a thumb back between his legs, testing to see how that part of his omega physiology fares under the strict hormone control. He wants to see how much of Kirk his own presence can awaken.]

Perhaps I'll simply show you how we used to worship.

We've also made some pretty spectacular advances.

[The hand between slipping down has Jim spreading his legs before he even thinks about what he's doing. He's only a little slick, the biting enough to bring about a reaction he doesn't normally experience.]

You can show me whatever you want just as long as you don't stop.

[He hums an encouragement, and traces his thumb through the lubrication, rubbing it into his skin and letting him feel it.]

I don't think I stop until I have you begging.

[He bites him again, this time on the hip, to see if he can provoke a little more.]

[Jim is enjoying this too much to lift up his head and give Khan the indignant look he wants to, but he doesn't plan to beg. The biting is a sign of dominance the suppressants can't stop his body from responding too, and he lifts his hips. His body knows what it wants, and Jim is just going along for the ride now.]

You're sweet when you seethe.

[He teases, because he can feel the irritation radiating down at him, even as he helps nudge Jim's legs a little further apart.]

I'm going to keep you here a very long time. Have you ever explored any of this side of yourself?

[He just nips his thigh, as the tip of his finger slips inside him.]

I've always preferred exploring other people.

[The finger sliding into him isn't nearly enough. Jim spreads his legs a little wider at the gentle scrape of teeth on sensitive skin.]

[The anticipation is a wonderful torment.]

Never, then.

[He decides, rubbing very slightly again, really just taking his time. There isn't enough lubrication to rush things, but he decides that pushing a little deeper will help with that, seeking a few of the more sensitive places hidden inside him.]

[There's some discomfort as Khan pushes deeper, but it's mild compared to the bites from earlier. Pleasure races along his spine, and Jim lets out a sharp moan as Khan reaches something wonderful inside him.

This time does put the effort to lift his head up and stare down at Khan, settled between his legs. He can definitely get used to seeing this.]
