THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME

In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Males have penises; females have vaginas.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

[When Khan gasps, Jim smiles and nuzzles his neck affectionately. The hand down between his legs has Jim shivering with anticipation. He's never liked this part of himself before, but maybe he'd just been waiting.]

Come on. I want it. I want you.

You're so strong, to face it for me.

[He promises, unafraid to slip three fingers into him right away, knowing he's well prepared now, will need more than that.]

I know you're here, in the face of things you've fled before, because of me. I like that.

[Khan's fingers feel good inside him, he's slick and stretched and ready for more.]

[Which was Jim code for 'always stayed far away from people who smelled like alphas'.]

Does it matter? That I'm not an augment?

[That's a question that's been eating at him in the back of his mind.]

It means we likely won't be hearing the pitter patter of little feet without scientific intervention, but forgive me if I'm not shedding a tear there.

[Is his dry response, but he adds;]

It means I have to be careful not to hurt you. But then, I find I don't particularly mind having a little care. My instincts rule me as much as you do yours, and for the moment, you're my mate. I don't want anything to harm you, least of all me.

[Though he may feel the sting of that fourth finger.]

[The comment about children earns a short laugh from Jim. He's not ready for that now and doesn't know if he ever will be.]

You've been gentle. Mostly.

[He'll have marks from where Khan has been less than gentle, but he doesn't mind. The fourth finger draws a small whine from him, it's uncomfortable, but there's a warm, pleasant feeling of pressure that gathers as he's stretched.]

[And for his part, Khan just can't stomach the idea of taking on the safety of another soul. His crew are settled, he still hasn't recovered from that. A child in the mix?

But he isn't thinking of that right now. He works his fingers gently, enjoying the way he can watch him recover from his last orgasm.]

This stimulation is going to let you come a lot more frequently than you might otherwise.

You know I thought I passed the point where I'd ever sleep with someone more experienced than I am some time ago.

[His muscles twitch around the fingers as they move, and all Jim can do is pant and writhe a little bit. The thought of moving too much, of doing anything that might interrupt that feeling inside him is unfathomable right now.]

[He murmurs, as his fingers press slowly in. His thumb tucks up, and he lets the pressure furl his fingertips naturally.]

[Jim opens his mouth to make a snarky remark, but all that comes out is a moan as Khan presses his hand in. The feel of being stretched like this makes him shudder, and then most of his body relaxes except for the muscles still gripping at Khan.]

I'm not sure if I love your self control or hate it.

My self-control, how I'm not trowing you down right now and knotting you up, claiming every inch of you and whispering in your ear that you're my perfect little slut of a Starfleet officer?

[Because as much as the captaincy has no place in bed, it's erotic to Khan, he brings it up without meaning to as the hitch of his thumb presses in. The worst part is over with.]

[He nods enthusiastically, his breath coming in short pants and a small whine of pleasure as Khan's hand slides in deeper. Jim has always been entirely unapologetic about his sexual habits, and he has no plans to start now.]

Hn. Must be hate then. Selfish bastard, keeping that to yourself.

[Although it's probably a good thing that at least one of them is capable of not rushing into anything and everything.]

You're not ready. Without a true heat on you, I'd break you open, shred you like a paper doll.

[He promises him, softly, letting his hand twist just gently.]

That, we can't play with.

[Jim turns his head to the side and presses it against the bed, letting out a soft, wavering moan, keenly aware of every pressure and slight movement inside him.]

That's- yeah. You're good with your hands.

Look at you, taking it.

[He answers, absently, as he twists his hand just so, watching him avidly.]

You say that like you plan on doing this again.

[It's such an intense feeling, and Jim has competing desires to move until Khan fits in him a little better and stay still because the feeling is incredible, if painful. He compromises by grabbing weakly at Khan and groaning.]

[He admits, freely, settling just right, until the sensation is as close to the actual knot as it can be, fingertips extended a little more, wrist bone imitating the drag of the lock. He takes a second to try to recall what it'd be like if he were actually fucking him, and searches for a moment with two of those very long fingers, deep inside of him.]

[His eyes close and he presses his head back against the bed.]

Fuck. Yes. Khan. I don't want to ever stop.

[Then those fingers are pushing inside of him and he's stretched and tight around Khan's hand. He screams as another orgasm wracks his body, clenching around Khan. Jim feels so much more aware and everything is that much more sensitive.]

A true heat can last hours, days, until both of us are mindless.

[He murmurs, bending down to kiss slowly up his thigh. He keeps his hand still, letting him feel what it'd be like to settle in, with the knot formed, ready to remain tied together for some time. Drawing back too quickly could be biologically disconcerting.]

[He's sweaty and breathless, but there's a strange calmness that settles over him. Jim longs for the feel of Khan pressed against him, as he would be if he was actually being knotted.]

[He flexes his hand, mimicking the pulse of the actual act inside him, the aftershocks he'd be able to feel so intimately, and smiles privately against his thigh.]

[The slight movements make muscles inside him twitch and contract, and he lets out a breathy moan. Jim nods slowly.]

Yes.

[It's not something he even thinks about, because the idea of denying Khan is completely unthinkable right now.]
