texting generally speaking.
You’ve got your TFLN, you’ve got your sexting, now here’s the meme for all those gen texts, phone calls, voicemails, pictures of your cats, and whatever else your little heart can come up with, because who doesn't like a little old fashioned friendly texting. (Or enemy texting, if that's more your bag.)
instructions: What it says on the tin! Leave a comment with your character, include preferences, a start, absolutely nothing or whatever you want. Run around and reply to others. Lather, rinse, repeat.

(( And he was. However long it took. The place in question is some mom-and-pop drug store; Dal doesn't let anyone know where he spends his days. The shitty little room above the Chinese restaurant he calls home is the only sanctuary he has from the world. He's not about to compromise it. ))
text -> action
it's more than a half an hour before dal gets another text from jun. just a quick message that says '2 mins'. he might have been off by a minute or two, but it's not too long after the text that a cab pulls up in front of the drug store. jun rolls down the back window then plasters a bright smile on his face as he awaits his new friend.
are they friends? hm ]

This could be the start of a friendship, for sure! ))
Where we goin'?
no subject
jun twists around in the back seat to face dal when he gets in the car ]
Where do you want to go? Pick somewhere. Doesn't matter where.
[ how clear is it that jun planned out exactly none of this beyond 'get dal to hang out with me?' ]
no subject
Not that he got that impression from Jun last time they met.
Dal hesitated, looking at Jun with hopeful eyes. ))
I've never been to Chinatown...
no subject
it didn't even occur to him that it might be more comfortable for dal for other reasons as well ]
Great! Then Chinatown it is. [ he turns his attention away from dal just long enough to give the driver their destination ]
I've been there a few times but it's always been with somewhere specific in mind. I've never really done a whole lot of exploring.

(( He's sure they can see and do a lot in just a couple of hours. Maybe even well into the evening. He's done well for himself this week, so he can afford to miss one night on the street. ))
I can only go where I can walk.

[ he never has anywhere he really needs to be. at least not for a little while yet. he'll go back to school eventually - he's registered for the fall semester - but he wanted some time off to get to know his new surrounds. he wanted the opportunity to get himself acquainted with the country he's basically been banished to.
so until then, he's all dal's ]
You know, anytime you want to go there again - or anywhere else - just text me and let me know. If I'm not busy, I'll come and get you.

(( He's lived in New York for eight years and seen maybe twelve blocks of it. Only as far as he could walk without fear of getting lost or getting too tired to walk back to the modest little room he calls home.
He smiles, then looks down a little sheepish. ))
I don't have a lotta free time usually.

[ together, they'll have to change that. jun will see to it personally that dal gets to see more of the city. he's been here for about a year, himself, and has spent much of that time going to various parts of the city. he hasn't really properly explored but he's visited a variety of places ]
That's fine! I'm totally free for the next few months so you can just let me know when you do have some free time. We can figure things out after that.
no subject
You're so nice!
no subject
You're my friend so I figure it's the least I can do.
no subject
I am?
no subject
jun lifts his head to look over at dal, his expression blank ]
Don't you want to be? My friend, I mean. I can do more, if that's what you want. [ for dal. buy him things. just give him money for whatever he needs. whatever ]
no subject
(( The answer comes without a shred of hesitation. His smile is blindingly bright for a split second before he tempers his enthusiasm. ))
I haven't had a friend in a long time.
no subject
[ there's a few long moments of nothing else from jun. no follow-up, no change in expression, nothing except for jun merely staring at dal. then all at once, his entire face brightens and his demeanor changes almost entirely. he visibly relaxes and smiles just a brightly as dal does ]
Neither have I. I mean, I guess I have but- [ not real friends. superficial friends ] Let's be friends.
no subject
We will be. No, we are. And you don't have to do anything to earn that, okay? I'm happy just to spend time with you.
no subject
Okay. [ he doesn't sound entirely convinced that dal's friendship isn't something that needs to be earned, but he's pleased to hear it, even still ] I'm happy spending time with you too.
no subject
Dal smiles at Jun's answer. That's another thing. People don't typically spend time with Dal simply to spend time with him. So he's very happy to hear to Jun enjoying being together with him. ))
What kind of things do you like to do?
no subject
after just sort of soaking the whole thing in for a short period, jun squeezes dal's hands in return ]
Back home, my friends liked to go out drinking and clubbing a lot. [ he doesn't really do much on his own ]
no subject
Do you like doing that?
no subject
but he still enjoys it well enough ]
I like being with my friends.
no subject
I don't drink much. It interferes with my job. And I usually work at night, so I've never been to a club. But we can do that if you want!
