1 ♜ manipulation

01. Mind games. You're messing with this person's head, using whatever you know about them to your advantage. Words are barbs, and everyone has a weakness.
02. Stay close to me. You're not letting this person out of your sight. And you don't care what extreme measures you have to go to in order to do it.
03. Blackmail. You know something and you're not afraid to use it against them. Now they have to do what you want.
04. Love makes you do things. It's because you love them that you're making them do this. If they truly loved you, wouldn't they do as you say?
05. For your own good. It doesn't matter what the other person wants. You know what's best, and you're going to force it on them whether they like it or not.

[He just scowls a little and begins to consider the benefits of chlorophorm, but he lets Psyche lead him in the direction of the coat he'd initially spotted; at least he's behaving, for the moment. He watches the double coo over the coat with mild disinterest, making no complaint for the moment, pleased that Psyche has something besides him to focus on]

[Psyche picks one item off the rack and loops his free arm into half the jacket. After waving around his limb to test the comfort and style, he shrugs it off and plucks another. Keyword: another. Izaya's not off the hook yet though physically speaking, he wouldn't be for quite some time.]

This one fits me so I think it's your size as well. Are you sure you don't want to look?

[He sees him take that second coat and shakes his head; he has some perfectly nice coats, thank you, and if he were to buy another it wouldn't be that one. It's not hideous at least, but nor is it something Izaya had any interest in wearing]

I don't want it, Psyche-kun, put it back.

[Really, it feels like being chained to an incorrigible child. Only bigger and harder to manage]

Nuh uh, you need to expand your closet! Well if you're absolutely sure there's nothing else, then let's go pay.

[Psyche drapes the ends of the coat so that the fur doesn't brush along the floor. White being his color of choice, he knows how much of a pain it is to maintain white garments. Now if he "accidentally" dyes the trimming pink so that Izaya can't return them is altogether a different matter.

Perhaps that wouldn't mean much to Izaya except with the same face as him, Psyche had no problem getting an ID and credit card issued in the Orihara name. He holds the card out as if intentionally trying to brag about that as he hands over the plastic to the cashier.]

I paid for them so you get to hold them on the way back home!

[He huffs in mild irritation but doesn't bother to make any further complaint as Psyche drapes the coats over his arm and begins to head towards the counter, once again making the effort to keep in step with him to avoid any further strain on his aching wrist.

And he thinks he catches a glimpse of what's written on that card, eyes narrowing once again just as the cashier takes it away]

Where did you get that? And I don't see why I should carry anything when I've made it quite clear I don't want it. You can do it yourself.

Oh this? The bank.

[Psyche doesn't think too much of his vague response while he tucks the card back into a pocket. He's eager to sign a perfect forgery of Izaya's signature for the receipt and even thanks the cashier heartily as his bagged purchases are handed over. He presents them both to Izaya expectantly.]

They don't carry themselves. Fair is fair!

[He's still suspicious, but he already knows Psyche will just find a way out of answering the question directly. All he does is raise a brow when the double turns to him with the bags; it's not exactly a particularly arduous task, but he still sees no reason why he should undertake it after he was forced into this ridiculous situation against his will in the first place]

I'm pretty sure you have a skewed definition of the word 'fair'. Carry them yourself.

[Psyche sighs deeply. Izaya is so not cute when he's being difficult like this and Psyche has never cared much for things that don't listen to him. He juts out an empty hand shy of punching Izaya in the stomach.]

Alright, we'll settle this in the fairest way. Ready, Iza-chan? Rock, paper, scissors. Loser has to carry the bags!

[He rolls his eyes, only tensing just a little at that jutting hand that almost hits him; he doesn't feel like playing along with Psyche's games, and while he knows it'd just be easier to carry the bags and get back to his apartment quickly so he can begin to work on a way to get himself lose, he doesn't see why the double should keep getting his way. It's not as though he can make him do anything ~~although he's been doing a pretty good job of just that all day~~.

Still, he'll go along with the rock, paper scissors idea for the moment; if it works out in his favour it'll shut Psyche up, at least. Perhaps]

Alright, fine.

[And he counts to three, before holding his hand out in a closed fist for a rock]

[At the countdown, Psyche also shakes a closed fist but he doesn't smile too sourly for a guy who just tied.]

I win!

[Opening his fist to reveal a key, he dangles it for two seconds before clenching it tight once more.]

Are you going to carry them now?

[Izaya scowls darkly at that; lying little bastard! But he supposes he shouldn't be so surprised; they're somehow connected to each other after all, and not by just the handcuffs. He just grits his teeth for a moment, calming himself before he next speaks]

And then you'll undo the cuffs?

[He says it as calmly as he can, though he still doesn't trust Psyche much at all]

I'll think about it if Iza-chan is a good boy.

[His cheeks only tug and with that, he ushers the bags into the other man's arms.]

[More scowling - a 'good boy' indeed! - but he doesn't argue for now, and he doesn't let go of the bags as Psyche pushes them into his arms. He doesn't trust him to give him that key at all - isn't even 100% certain it's the right key - but for now he'll concentrate on getting them back to his apartment and will think of what to do with his annoying counterpart once he gets there]

[Psyche laughs delightfully sweet. It's so satisfying to get what he wants. He pats Izaya's head as if he were dog and then process to skip as they make their way back. Honestly, he's looking forward to it somewhat. He didn't imagine that the handcuffs would be so physically straining and in retrospect, he should have bought the fuzzy pink ones.

At least it would be easier to keep an eye on Izaya within the apartment. He had certain duties to tend to and by certain duties, Psyche meant bugging the place with spy cameras. That and maybe Izaya would be in a better mood once he supposedly had some free time to himself. Well, he could still yank Izaya's chain for a little bit longer, at least until they reached the flat.]

You know, good boys smile. Like me! Watch this! [SMILING OBNOXIOUSLY] Aren't you going to try to be good?

[The obnoxious sweetness of Psyche's laughter strikes Izaya as a form of mockery, particularly combined with the pat on the head, and he briefly entertains the thought of biting him - if he's going to try treating him like a pet, then why not act like ~~a badly behaved~~ one? - but instead he just grits his teeth and keeps silent for now; he'll deal with him when they get home, until then he'll just endure it.

He rolls his eyes and huffs as the continuation of Psyche's obnoxious behaviour, but then gives him a sharp little smile all the same. Only, there's nothing particularly friendly about the expression :|]

No! That's not good at all! More like this--

[Izaya can't even do this without some help, can he? With his fingers pointed out in a V-shape, he pushes up Izaya's cheeks. It's such an out of place expression and doesn't even look right, it really is a shame Izaya's face can't just stay like that for a day.]

Pfft!

[Again, biting him begins to seem like a good idea, teach him not to put your fingers in dangerous places, but he refrains from doing so; he doesn't want Psyche to have another wailing fit in the middle of the street. Instead he just turns his head sharply in order to shake him off]

Didn't anyone ever teach you to keep your hands to yourself, Psyche-kun?

[Which is rich coming from him, but that's besides the point]

Isn't it the same thing if it's with you?

[Psyche pats Izaya's cheek twice, emphasizing his point.]

No.

[and he awkwardly shifts the bags to just one arm, freeing up his other hand to catch Psyche's wrist and firmly pulling is hand away]

If you want to pet something, get a cat.

[He wrinkles his nose, shrugging. He's too self-centered to deal properly with a cat and the thought of even an animal not like him doesn't particularly cheer him up.]

I have you for that.

[A sharp little smile]

I wouldn't make a very good pet.

[Right back atcha.]

Oh, I think Iza-chan makes a very nice pet!

[A ripple of laughter that sounds mildly grating as it fills the space between them; how anyone could think to keep him as a pet is entirely beyond him. He finds it amusing and offensive in equal measure. Sometimes he has to admit he can see the points at which he and his counterpart's personalities match up]

I'd ask if you knew what kind of person you were talking to, Psyche-kun, but we both know the answer to that. Don't be so naive.

[He hums dismissively, closing his eyes and leaning back his head. There's a comfortable silence on his half for some minutes until a little laugh wakes him from his zen.]

It's going to be hard work to turn Iza-chan from an outdoor pet into an indoor pet.

[He comes to a stop as Psyche utters those words, pulling on the cuffs a little in an attempt to bring his double to a stop. He could easily be teasing him, or trying to wind him up, both of which seem more viable options than the alternative, and yet he of all people should know that Psyche's thinking is likely a little atypical in comparison with most people's. Izaya thinks it's entirely possible that he's being serious]

Ah, Psyche-kun. [And he shakes his head] I'm not a pet of any description, and certainly not the kind you keep indoors. Your games can be so tiring.
