Those fingers are calloused but gentle and he closes his eyes against the sweet intimacy of it, like a cat rubbing against something that brought a modicum of pleasure. Cheekbones sharp enough that they could perhaps cut-- but never Caleb. ]
I do not blame you for anything, Caleb Widogast--
[ It felt fragile, the way that his hand moved up to a collar and then he placed his fingers-- gloved and cool against the side of Caleb's neck and felt the warm pulse there that thrummed reassuringly ]
It is nice-- that you know now. That whatever happens tomorrow, it does not take this moment away, that I am for you.

His touch lingered, especially as Essek's eyes shut. He took that moment to study those sharp features, beautiful in the sort of ethereal way of a creature too lovely for this world. This stunning, brilliant man was his.
Something in him eased at the touch, even with those gloved fingers. He wanted the other wizard to feel the way his heartbeat, to know that it was, and had been, for him.]
You are mine. [Caleb agreed.] And I am yours. I will be yours forever, even if that forever is only one night.
[And if they lived? If they lived, Caleb would do all he could to make up for so much time lost between them.]
May I kiss you?

Like the gentleman that he was.
His tongue darted out to wet his lower lip and then his eyes slid open to look into those eyes while his arms slid around those shoulders. The scent of Caleb overtook him, the leather of his jacket along with the cooling sweat from a few days of travel, but even that too made it perfect. He smelled like a hearth fire, warm and comforting and then he nodded as he pressed himself close.
Partly for warmth, and partly because he desired closeness with his heart, his soulmate.
Fingers at the back of Caleb's neck and then he slowly bunted their lips together as a surge of electricity went through him at the contact; it was powerful-- like something that clicked between them, a contact that had been meant to be. The touch of his lips, was his assent, and in that contact-- he tasted forever. ]

That first brush of their lips flashed through Caleb like something in him that had been slumbering since he was born suddenly woke, like every color in the world had been some dull shadow of itself and was no made full and bright. This man, this brilliant, complicated, flawed, perfect, broken man, was who he was meant to belong to, meant to die for, meant to live for.
He claimed those lips with his own more securely, kissing him as if it might be the very last thing he did. The kiss lingered, soft and bursting with how much he loved him, had wanted him, would always want him.]
We will live through this. [He announced to Essek's lips.] We will survive this, and I will make up all this lost time to you, for the rest of my life.

And that kiss, that kiss that warmed him in such unspeakable ways. It was like a fire racing through him and warming his blood as he surrendered to the kiss. Essek Thelyss, Shadowhand, did not surrender easily to emotion but when that kiss blossomed against his lips and his fingers cupped jawline, it felt like home-- home in the brush of tongue against his own, the subtle scratch of chin hair, the perfection of it as it filled him with endless light-- his own personal Beacon and the only reason he'd ever truly wanted power.
When their lips parted, he had the look of a man thoroughly kissed-- lips subtly swollen and eyes heavy lidded with tangible emotions, made drunker still by the promises that Caleb reverently spoke against his lips. ]
I know that it was not your fault and that you have nothing to make up for, you did not choose what happened to you.
[ it was Essek's turn to cup against those cheeks, seeing the resolve there and offering a tender smile ]
I have not made this easy as well-- in fact now they are quite the opposite, and my life will not be easy if we get out of here alive.
[ He referred of course to the whole 'betrayal' thing, he knew that he would be hunted by both sides and that it could potentially cause problems for this beautiful glowing man before him. ]

He was breathless when the kiss broke, but that did not stop him from taking in how perfect Essek looked with kiss-swollen lips, with eyes that belonged in a bedroom with a door between them and the rest of the world.
Essek was perhaps too forgiving. He had not chosen to break, not chosen for Ikithon to twist his mind with poisoned memories, but he had chosen to take the first steps along the path Trent laid before him. But caleb would not argue, instead he let his fingertips trace along the line of his jaw, soft and gentle, reverent.]
Easy is not important. We will travel whatever road is put before us, ja? And we will do it together.
[Caleb would not let anyone take Essek from him now that they had found each other.]

[ He whispered this, pressing his lips to that ear and murmuring it for only Caleb to hear this soft admittance, it was such a whisper like fine fluttering glass. And no matter what happened, if they survived or if they did not (and Essek was ever a pragmatist, he knew full well that either could happen), he could give Caleb those words gladly and freely. His head rested against that jawline, a lock of hair tickling against cheek as his eyes fluttered shut.
He was not tired, no-- merely enjoying the way that it felt to be in the arms of the one that was his soulmate. ]
I have waited for you my entire life and I, I want to survive too. But I also want you to know the depths of my feelings for you, just in case.
[ He was quite content in settling down for their watch together, cuddled closely together against the chill of Aeor, with their fingers entwined and sharing breath and the occasional kiss. ]

I love you too. I will love you for the rest of my life.
[Whether that is one more day or decades until his human again caught up with him. And the way their souls were intertwined, he was certain he would love Essek straight into the next life as well. The drow had left an indelible mark on his soul, one that would not be removed by time or magic or anything known to mortal or divine.]
