Tunnel of Love: Or perhaps tunnel of mild boredom. The red-tinted lights and quasi-romantic music are meant to make this ride a great makeout spot, if the chemistry is there. 7. Hall of Mirrors: You and your partner entered, thinking it would be easy to get out again, but dead ends abound in this wacky mirror-maze, and each mirror seems to show a more and more distorted image of each of you. 8. Fortune Teller: Whether one of the creepy machines or the even creepier women dressed up in a culturally insensitive costume, you cross someone's palms with silver and get your future told. "There we go," she replied, "that's a winner right there."

She giggled as they finally stepped outside. "So what's next?"

"Tilt-a-whirl," she says, almost before Kitty's done uttering the phrase, with even more enthusiasm than she intended.

And she points. Liberally.

Glancing in the general direction, Kitty grins a little. "Yeah all right. I think my stomach is settled enough. Speaking of, though, we should think about what we want for dinner soon."

"Yeah, we should - I think I know just the place, too. I don't think you've had a proper Gotham burger. I know some places. And yes, before you ask, they have veggie burgers that'll knock your socks off then come back for the second round."

She laughs, glad that Barbara remembers her dietary restriction. Not that she'd think the redhead would be the kind of person to forget, but it was still nice. "Perfect. Maybe a few more rides, and we can check it out."

"Works for me," she replied, taking Kitty's hand to pull her along this time.

"C'mon, let's go exploring."

With a grin, Kitty follows along as they head further into the carnival. They spend a couple more hours trying out some of the rides and even trying a couple of games, though the only time they won a prize was when Barbara received a call about the Hall of Mirrors result, letting them know that they'd gotten the fastest time and they could each select one of the largest prizes that the carnival offered.

So by the time the two of them were leaving for dinner, Kitty was carrying a giant stuffed T-Rex on her back, as if she was giving it a piggy back ride.

"I'd say that was a very successful night at the carnival," Kitty said with a grin.

For her, the choice had been a blue, slightly mopey-looking dragon. One eyelid drooped a bit more than the other, so she couldn't leave them behind. She'd already named it Leslie.

"Leslie and I both agree," she said, hugging the dragon to her midsection, heading towards the car. She sighed, contented.

"Best prize I ever won, too. As an added bonus."

She giggled, adjusting her hold on the T-Rex. "Oh for sure. I can't wait to take Chad home."

Getting him on the plane would be a chore, but it'd be worth it to introduce him to Lockheed.

She giggled once again at the name.

"That has to be the first time I've ever liked someone named Chad," she replied, fishing her car fob out of her purse as they got closer. "But he's a cutie all right."

"Me too. But it's okay, because he puts all other Chads to shame."

Once the car was unlocked, she loaded Chad into the backseat and even buckled his seat belt.

Well a good idea is a good idea, so hers gets buckled in, too. It perfectly fits her sense of humor, really.

She slid into the driver's seat, stretching out her legs for a moment, getting comfortable.

"He is indeed the Superior Chad," she replied with a smile.

With a giggle, she hopped into the passenger's seat and buckled herself in, sighing now that she was off her feet.

"So, you promised veggie burgers?"

"I did," she said, starting the engine, then pulling out of the parking spot.

"And I aaaallways follow through on those."

She giggled. "You do, indeed. You've got me really excited about these burgers though. If they're not as good as you say, I'll be really sad."

She grinned, pushing a bit down on the pedal to work their way out of the parking lot.

"Well, I am fully confident you won't be disappointed...Gotham takes food super seriously."

She made a turn, coming up to the exit of the parking lot.

"Food, architecture, and art - that's kinda our trifecta."

She nods. "I'd definitely believe the architecture. From what I've seen, the buildings are pretty amazing. So I'll take your word on the food too."

My turn to apologize - work was just awful this week.

"This city like keeping it old school, architecture-wise, you'll see a lot like that. The whole Po-Mo thing kinda gave Gotham a skip."

She made a series of turns, emerging onto the main roads.

"Whatever Gotham does, it takes seriously. How about where you're from? What's the area around the famous Mansion famed for?"

Believe me, I can definitely understand

"Besides the weird things that happen thanks to Mutant Manor being so close by?" Kitty remarked, and while it was mostly light and joking, there was an undercurrent of weariness in her tone. She'd definitely needed a vacation for a bit. "Nothing much, really. Bayville is pretty quiet compared to other places in New York."

"Do you get in to the museums and stuff often? I would live in New York's libraries if I could," she replied.

She merged lanes, sighing at someone pulled a stupid maneuver on the left.

"Ok, so, safe driving? Not one of our local strengths."

"I mean, there are a few in Bayville? But Bayville isn't as big as more well-known cities. Not as small as back where I came from, but it's also no New York City." Or Gotham, for that manner.

Watching the other car zoom past, Kitty rolled her eyes. "I think rude drivers are just a universal thing no matter where you go."

She nods in agreement.

"Probably. But I like to live in hope that, somewhere, there's a city full of people who use turns signals and vigilantly follow the speed limit. Who aren't somehow part of a villainous plot."

Because, well, in their line of work, the unusual of that nature tended to come with added bonus weirdness.

Kitty laughed a little. "You'd like Scott, then. He's all about that...unless an emergency comes up."

And even then, he has some limits, because he really likes his car.

"So he's not the sort I have to chase down for blowing three stop lights with a bag of loot in the back, excellent."

She made another turn, exiting the busier roads soon after, coming to a stop sign.

"You do tell the best stories about all of them," she added. "I feel like I know half of these people."
