Spot's hand stills for a moment and he really hopes it wasn't audible the way his breath caught at the brush of Marcus' fingers. He really hates how easily the other boy can affect him.

"I only just started, really, but honestly it's nice to be able to actually do it for once."

"Still got Potions, Charms, Herbology, Defense Against The Dark Arts, finished Transfiguration." He says closing his eyes and just enjoying the weather and the company.

"What are you doing for the rest of the holiday?" He asks cracking an eye and looking over at Sean, "Aside from you know all that work they gave us."

"Not much," he admits "Medda and Bryan say they want me to get settled in, you know get used to living with them? They're pretty... relaxed, though, they say if there's anything I wanna do I just gotta tell them..."

He still doesn't know what to make of it, honestly, but they're good people.

"What about you?"

"All the work for school I still have, working at the shop, working on some plays for the season." He rambles off, "lucky I didn't lose the job when I had to take the runner." He mutters plucking more grass, fingers brushing Spot's again.

"That's good..." Spot says quietly, glancing away when their fingers brush again. It's like torture, every time it happens it's like a jolt of electricity and Spot just wants to grab him and kiss him and it's pathetic, he thinks, how desperately he wants Marcus.

Because he's convinced himself that Marcus couldn't possibly want him.

Hey, Oliver's parents are going on holiday for a week, we're having a party here on Thursday, so we can make sure everything is cleaned by the time they get back on Saturday. Then Sunday we're going to Diagon Ally to get all our crap for the term. Did you see the DADA list... But anyway party, you should come.

Marcus folds up the letter and gives it to his owl, and sends it off to Sean.

Oh I think Medda was planning on us going to Diagon Alley on Sunday too, so we'll definitely see you there

And she said I can come to the party too so I'll see you there. You need me to bring anything?

An actual party. He has been invited to an actual party. This was... new and it was kind of lame how excited he actually was. He honestly couldn't tell if that was because of the party or because of Marcus.

Either way when Thursday rolls around he's heading to to Oliver's with some overnight stuff and a bag full of snacks and drinks that Medda insisted he bring, he's also got on a new blue shirt that, Medda assured him with a sly smile, really brings out his eyes.

There is a fire going in the pit in the backyard, and Marcus was pretty sure Oliver's parents knew Oliver was going to throw a party, but he doubted it would get crazy. Percy shows up earlier which of course he does but it makes Marcus laugh. It's not a huge gathering a lot of the 6th and 7th-year quidditch players and maybe who they are dating, it's only about 15 people.

It's nice Marcus is having a is sitting on the steps drinking a beer and talking to Cedric while Oliver is doing his best not to burn the burgers and hotdogs. Marcus is in a fitted black t-shirt his hair piled up on his head, he hadn't gotten it cut at all over the summer but he was starting to like it, and a pair of red basketball shorts.

He smiles when he sees that Sean came. "Hey."

Spot shares a nod of recognition with the Hufflepuff players who are here, but it's Marcus he heads straight over to. God he looks good with his hair like that, and the fitted t-shirt is equally distracting, to the point it takes Spot a second to find his voice.

"Hey," he finally manages, adding a "hey Cedric" when he belatedly realises the other boy is there.

"I got snacks and stuff," he lifts the bag "Where should I put them?"

"Excellent we're betting Oliver burns the burgers." He says eyeing the wizard at the grill. "His mom is a great cook, and he's learning a lot, but... I don't think they've gotten to the grill yet." He laughs.

He slaps Cedric on the back and leads Sean into the kitchen, the table is full of snacks, and drinks, som alcoholic some not. "Medda didn't give you any trouble about coming to a party with no adults?" He teases taking a sip from his beer. "You want one?"

"Was I supposed to mention there were no adults?" Spot asks with a slight smirk. He empties the bag of stuff out onto the table "I think she probably figured though, she seems fine with me doing what I want so long as she knows where I am."

He glanced at the beer and nodded "Sure."

"Don't abuse that shit." Marcus laughs tapping his wand on the bottle making the cap pop off and hands it to Spot. Marcus throws his arm over Sean's shoulders again, relaxed and happy turning them to head back outside. "Did he burn them?" He asks as they head to the grill.

"He's actually fairing pretty well," Percy smirks pushing his glasses up on his nose.

"I can cook." Oliver rolls his eyes as he puts a few more done burgers on a tray Percy is holding and turning the sausages. "You guys have no faith in me." He huffs more amused than anything.

Angela comes over, "That's because you burned the first batch." She smirks.

Marcus takes the tray over to the table of actual food making sure Sean is following him. When he sets down the tray he nods for Sean to follow him, he flops down in a rocking bench under one of the trees in the backyard.

"You get all your stuff done?"

"I ain't stupid." Spot nudges him with a roll of his eyes and takes the beer, taking a sip before they head outside. Walking out there with Marcus' arm around his shoulders is actually kind of nice, it almost feels like they're a couple for just a moment - but it's stupid, he knows, and it's gone soon enough and he sips his beer and tries not to think about the lingering warmth across his back.

He follows Marcus and drops down into the seat next to him, sitting as close as he dared.

"Yea, just about. Got my transfiguration still left to do but that'll take me like two hours tops." he shrugs.

"Did you even look at it?" He smirks leaning against Spot a little wondering if the guy will get the hint or not. Or if Sean doesn't like him like that at all, he takes a sip from his beer. "Because I doubt it will take even you two hours." He laughs a little. "But you have a couple days to get it done." He says taking another sip and puts the bottle in the grass, and gives the bench a little swing.

Sitting under the trees in the sunshine, drinking beer with Marcus leaning against him, it was kind of like a little piece of heaven.

And it was torture.

"Sounds like a challenge," he smirks "I think you forget how good I am at transfiguration."

"Nope I didn't but even if you were in the sixth year class last year, you didn't get the NEWT summer work did you?" He asks smirking a little, "You're good, but it's also the quantity of the work." He snorts.

"Do you want me to stop flirting with you?" He asks arching an eyebrow.

"I am not just good I am amazing," Spot gives him a cocky smirk "Who was it who figured out animagus transformation when he was 14? Was it me? Oh, yea, I think it was me."

And then he takes a sip of his beer and nearly fucking spits it out.

"Wh-what?"

"Do. You. Want. Me. To. Stop. Flirting. With. You?" He asks again smiling a little, he shifts so he can look at Spot, sitting sideways turning his body. "I asked you out... twice, we'll three times if you count the match we went to..., I keep doing the casual touching thing." He shrugs, "So uh I'm guessing you're not interested." He says rubbing the back of his neck.

"...you asked me out.." Spot repeats, dazed.

He asked Spot out. All those touches have been deliberate. He's been flirting with him.

"Jesus christ..." he breathes.

"Fuck. No. I mean yes. I mean no, I do not want you to stop flirting with me, yes I am interested, I just didn't. I didn't realise that's what you were doing."

Marcus laughs and pulls a knee to his chest making the bench swing a little, he balances his chin on it looking very pleased and maybe a little smug. "Okay, I won't stop, maybe I should have been a little more, I dunno I haven't dated for a while." He shrugs and laughs again.

Spot loves his laugh, and from anybody else he might feel like Marcus was laughing at him, but it doesn't feel like that from him, somehow.

"Look I ain't... I ain't dated ever." he admits, worried that his total lack of experience might put Marcus off.

"I wouldn't call one boyfriend dating." He snorts shrugging a little. "Hey, you can actually go on Hogsmeads trips with me now." He smiles, "Where everyone goes on their dates during the school term." He says. "Not going to that stupid tea shop though." He says amused. "Wanna get another beer? See if the burgers are editable?"

Spot stares at him for a long moment, trying to puzzle through his words and not being able to make sense of them, the thought of actually getting to go to Hogsmeade is nice, sure, and going with Marcus would be even nicer, but is that his way of asking for a date? Are they dating now? He's never done any of this before and he doesn't know how it works and Marcus is not as obvious as he thinks he is, in Spot's opinion.

So he just nods a little awkwardly, and then drains the last of his beer and stands up.

"Sure let's go get something to eat."

Marcus puts the empty in the trash and grabs another beer and plats up some food on his plate.

It's nice the food, the drink, and friends, Marcus ends up with a good buzz and laid out in the grass watching the sky slowly change colors. Picking at a bar of chocolate.

Spot follows Marcus mostly, though at one point he gets drawn - without meaning to - into an impromptu tactics discussion with Cedric after letting slip he had a new broom now, and somewhere along the line he ends up talking to Oliver about the Bats game they went to see, so it's been maybe half an hour or more since he last saw Marcus.

By this point he's about four beers in and is just slightly more than buzzed, so when he spots Marcus lying on the grass with nobody else in the immediate vicinity, he saunters over and drops down next to him.

"Hey you." he says, tone a little accusing.
