![]() "FAKE" FAKE DATING MEME Whether you're trying to make someone else jealous, trying to save a stranger from a creep on the subway, doing a spy mission, running a con, trying to get your parents off your back about being single at a holiday dinner, or any number of other reasons, fake relationships are a hugely popular trope. From there, the hook that sinks downward is that the best laid plans go awry; what started off as pretend turns all too real. Of course, that'd never happen to you, right? |
Chie Satonaka | Persona 4 | OTA

Upon meeting the gang, he agreed to help in exchange for help adjusting to the real world. Rather than staying with Yosuke, he managed to convince Yukiko to let him work as a staff member at the inn, proving his skills as useful in such a place. It did also help the tattoos could be turned off with enough concentration. Chie also hung around him a lot, something he didn't quite get beyond some training. Didn't know why though.
All until she asked for a favor from him. It was a bizarre one to be sure, to make a friend jealous. He was about to ask why, though quickly assumed she was too embarrassed to ask directly for a date from Narukami. At the very least, this could boost her confidence, he thought. Plus it did serve as a good excuse to eat out often.
Their "dates" had been fun, Naoki learning more about his friend and even growing a love for all things meat as well. However, their target barely seemed to notice or care. Clearly this wasn't working. Least the inn paid him well enough.
Spending time at her place, they began to formulate ideas. Well, mostly her. Naoki was trying to think of stuff, but his knowledge wasn't really that helpful, having only movies to reference of whatever was handed to him. As he tried thinking, he gently rubbed the stomach of her dog, who seemed to really take to Naiki after a while.]
Hmmm...dancing maybe? Granted where can you dance in this town?
no subject
How she reacts to her little oopsy is way more important.
Chie seems like the sort of girl to honestly feel better after making a gesture like this, though, and it gives them an excuse to hang out - and Chie seems fun. And she's attractive. And Umi falls in love with girls too easily sometimes.
So now she's following Chie around Inaba - not even that far from Tokyo actually - to her favorite spot. ]
I feel like a tourist.
no subject
Regardless, Chie was always pretty happy to make friends with super attractive people. It helped her feel like she fit in with the cream of the crop. If said attractive person was also attracted to her that meant even less competition! Not that she was competing anyways, but it still boosted her own self esteem a smidge?]
That's kind of weird to think about. It's not like Inaba has much of anything to attract tourists apart from the Amagi Inn. Like seriously, Junes is the most exciting place around here sometimes and that's kind of sad.
Still...
[Chie breaks her chopsticks, stuffs her face, and takes a moment to appreciate the view of the river from the picnic table beneath a little roofed... gazebo? She's not if that's the right term for it, but she's gonna roll with it.]
It's kind of nice and peaceful. It's still got the luxury of a suburb with some of the open air and scenic views of the countryside.
no subject
It is a mystery.
That does seem like an excuse to hang out with pretty girls, though Umi wouldn't fight her over it. ]
I just don't spend much time in, uh, smaller... cities.
[ Unless it's touring a historical site, or competing with a smaller school at sports. ]
Relaxing, though, for sure.
[ Umi is gonna keep pace with that beef consumption, for now. Despite her refined elegance, she can still eat like a champ. ]
no subject
Oh Inaba doesn't qualify as a city. Waaay too small for that.
[Yeah, Inaba was basically the definition of a town.]
Hey, not bad! I was thinking with your twiggy figure you wouldn't be able to pack it away like that. Plus one respect points.
[She's offering Umi a fist bump, clearly treating this super casually and fun. Maybe
whenif Umi treats her to that filet mignon, she can try to keep it more serious? Then again probably not.]no subject
Town. Yeah. Well, however they want to call it?
[ Umi accepts the fist bump gladly. ]
That's what happens when you burn through calories just as fast, after all. And it's real good.
[ This is chill and that's cool. And Umi's clearly not a snob about food. ]
no subject
Don't break wall #4 there folks.Chie was busy slurping up her beefbowl when she heard Umi's explanation about burning calories. So her mouth is sort of full when she wants to respond, but she demonstrates just how quickly she can chew and swallow.]
Mmm! I know just what you mean! That's one of the reasons I don't have to diet, because I'm always in tip top fighting shape. Kapaaa!
[And she does some fancy footwork, hopping from one foot to the other, and demonstrates some of her mock kicks. Too bad for Umi Chie does this so often that she wears bloomers by default.
No panty shot for you!She also clearly does this sort of thing so often she knows how to keep her food from going flying in the midst of her demonstration.]no subject
Oh wow, you've got killer form.
[ She's no expert but she knows a good kick when she sees it. ...pantyshot would be nice, but it's not like Umi needs it. ]
You should watch me fence sometime. It's so intense and rigorous.
[ And getting her hair up in her helmet is a sight to watch. ]
no subject
Hehe, thanks! I like to stay in practice.
[She's feeling pretty proud of herself, when Umi mentions fencing and Chie is a bit star struck.]
Whoa, you fence? Like... with a real sword, or just a wooden one?
[Either way is pretty awesome and probably way cooler than Yousuke or Narukami who just free style it like they're using a club.]
Your family must be pretty rich.
no subject
Just like... have you watched the Olympics? With the dull metal blades, and the pads and the mask, going back and forth?
[ Not that Umi is close to Olympic level, but she's probably... already better in a Real Sword Fight than Olympic fencers. ]
It's hardly as expensive as figure skating or horseback riding, you know. ...which doesn't change that my family is pretty well off.
[ Chomp chomp. ]
no subject
Oooh! That's still really cool! So more like the European style than the Japanese Kenpo style.
[Ugh... rich and beautiful... keep the jealousy in check Chie.]
Yeaaah, that sounds like something you know from experience, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess your place is like a freaking mansion compared to mine. Oh well, as long as you don't mind my place being kind of dinky, I think that should be our next stop. THE TRIAL OF THE DRAGON AWAITS!
[She says it in a booming, masculine, dramatic voice that echoes in the relatively empty picnic area, followed by her laughing about it.]
Don't worry, the first one is a little corny and cliche but it makes the second movie so much better!
no subject
Yeah, yeah! But my friend Hikaru practices kendo. ...and is astonishingly good.
[ Were she more ambitious, Umi would peg her to just sweep any national competitions. ]
Well, hey, it's a little big I guess.
[ ...her family's property is walled in, with a fancy wrought iron gate and an intercom. ]
I'm not gonna judge you for being, you know, actually normal of all things. And uh...
[ Her ears... but she loves the enthusiasm. ]
I think I'm ready for that too!
no subject
[By which she means soccer, because otherwise it's just called American football. And yeah... yeah... definitely a rich girl. She probably has a summer home with a private beach and everything.]
Prepare yourself young Umi, you are about to witness the most classic kung-fu movie of all time!
[Now she's using this over the top old wizened master voice which sounds downright ridiculous coming from Chie. She seems to be just leaving the empty bowl at the table. It's a porcelain bowl so clearly it's not meant to be just thrown away, but is it really okay to leave it there?]
no subject
[ Umi's parents haven't QUITE gone that far, but only because they'd prefer to hit up Cala Goloritzé or Kauapea. Yes, she knows Italy has horse meat from personal experience.
This is an experience too, though, and they've raised Umi not to have a particularly bad attitude about their wealth. ]
Should we... walk these back?
[ Umi just wants to be responsible. A good girl. ]
no subject
[Oh right, maybe she should explain this a bit.]
My classmate, Aiya? She and her dad run the beefbowl joint here in Inaba. Her dad does all the cooking, and she takes care of all the deliveries. That girl has like a sixth sense when it comes to knowing where to find you or the beef bowls when she does her deliveries, so I always make sure to leave her big tips.
There was this one time, I was trying to run away from my friend Kanji? And she still made the delivery while we were in the middle of being chased by him! Hehe, that girl sure is persistent with her work ethic.
[That's... one thing to call it.]
Well, let's get going. Oh by the way, are you okay with dogs? Because I have this big fat guy at home, that is super affectionate and friendly!
no subject
Right. She sounds like a nice girl.
[ She won't ask about the running away from her, uh, friend. That's just friendship sometimes right? ]
Anyways! I should totally have Hikaru visit you too, because she can basically just understand dogs too. ...she's kind of amazing in a lot of ways. Dogs are great as long as you can calm him down when he needs to calm down, there's such a thing as too much slobber.
no subject
[Well they weren't friends at the time of the fleeing, but that's too long a story to explain.]
Aw don't worry! He's a good boy, so while he might want to jump all over you, he'll listen to me and behave himself. If you were afraid of dogs I'd probably have to go in ahead of you to make sure he stayed out of the way, but if you're a dog person he's super friendly. A bit smelly if he hasn't gotten his bath, but he probably won't be a problem. He doesn't really drool that much either, not that kind of dog.
no subject
Oh good, good. I'm not too worried about usual dogginess, then!
[ Even if she doesn't have any particular pets herself. ]
Lead the way on in to your domain of dogs and kung-fu!
no subject
Yes! The Trial of the dragon awaits! Hwaaaa!
[She'd almost forgotten in her enthusiasm about meat and her dog why they were heading to her place. It wasn't that much further until they reached it either, and Chie is almost already kicking off her shoes when she gets in the door.]
I'm hoooome!
[She's a bit surprised that she isn't met with an abundance of happy barks and the scuffling of paws on floorboards, but she shrugged it off.]
Oh well, my mom must have taken him out. She does that from time to time, and he was looking a bit shaggy recently, so maybe he's getting a haircut too. Just means we've got the place to ourselves.
no subject
And I'm pretty powerful as well.
[ Oh hey, lucky Umi? No family here either to remark on Chie just randomly bringing a super gorgeous girl home that isn't Yukiko. ]
All to juuust the two of us. ...we can turn up the volume.
[ What did you think she was gonna suggest something lewd? ]
no subject
Err... the movie volume... right?
[She still thinks she's suggesting something lewd! Chie audibly gulps at this next question.]
S-So... the living room or m-my room? We're less likely to be interrupted in... my room.
[Interrupted watching the movie you pervs.]
