Well... I don't want to be how I was before.

[ His encounter with Inasa made him realize a lot of things. Maybe if he had let go of his hate sooner, he could have worked on controlling his fire from back then and been stronger for it. ]

So, I'm trying to understand our classmates more.

[It's a stupid smile, Bakugou wants to remind him, but he doesn't need it to get turned around again.]

[ He's a warm kid at heart. He just iced over his emotions for so long, he doesn't really know how to warm up to people. ]

I feel like I've made some progress, but that's because everyone in Class A is striving toward the same goal as us. [ He looks at him. ] I think, if you got to know them better, you'd probably end up liking a few of them more than you do yourself.

[ He seems to be doing a better job of it than Bakugou, so he can't really ay anything about it.

At least he exudes plenty of fake confidence. He'd rather be seen this way than as helpless as he often feels. ]

[ He doesn't want to fight you at a disadvantage either. But, if you can't overcome it on your own. It's fair game.

He steps up in front of him and reaches forward, an inch from his chest. ]

[ And lets his ice encase them in a cage of frost that chills the very air. ]

[Bakugou snorts, even as the air chills and he shivers. One blast from his palms melts away the frost and he rolls his eyes.]

[ The crystalline solid disintegrates and melts away yet he doesn't seem all that phased by it. ]

During our battle. You scolded me on my imprecise attacks. So, I took it to heart and devoted myself to it.

I don't need to overwhelm you. I just need to stop the source.

[ Okay... that. Yeah, he actually doesn't know what to do with that. This icyhot bastard actually took his words to heart and practiced and got stronger based on that? Yeah, it feels good. Not just in a boastful way. In a new kind of way. Not only that, it's exciting. ]

This I've gotta see.

[He'd wanna see it now if they were training, but he doesn't wanna get in trouble for doing any of this in the dorms.]

[ Bakugou was strong and he did it all on his own, guided by his own instincts. How could he not listen to him? But it was more than that. He respected him. He'd proven to be stronger than all of them both mentally and physically. He'd fallen short the last time they fought but he'd trained hard since then. Not only that, but he also wanted to prove he was stronger. Just like Bakugou, he wanted to be number one and would do everything in his power to get there.

He nods, feeling a surge of excitement at the prospect. He might have devised a plan to counter his explosions, but he didn't know if he could pull off the execution yet. If Bakugou was willing to let him practice then Todoroki would take the opportunity. ]

[ It's exciting to think that Todoroki has been thinking of his moves specifically to take someone like him down. It gives him a boost of confidence that he needs. Real confidence, not the overblown shit he spews out all the time.

Deep down he respects Todoroki as well, and he really is trying, despite all his grumblings and posturing. ]

After math class? We can talk to Aizawa sensei about reserving the training space for us. Wouldn't want anyone else getting in the middle of this fight.

[ He nods. He could accept that. ]

I won't hold back this time.

[ It wasn't just his ice he'd worked on. His fire too. He still wasn't in control of it as much as he'd like but he also needed to know his limits in order to push past them. Bakugou, with is explosion quirk, should be able to handle the heat better than most. ]

I'd be fucking furious if you even tried.

[Finally. He's been waiting so long for this. He really can't stop smiling this time, he's just so excited. He'll handle the ice, the heat, whatever else Todoroki wants to throw at him. He'd be more than happy to test all of the boy's limits.]

[it sounds like a perfectly logical thing to say when he says it in his head, but out loud it sounds more... spicy.]

[ There's a rush of adrenaline at the prospect coupled with a need to prove himself. He'd grown past who he'd been. He was stronger now. That wasn't just arrogance either. He could back it up just like Bakugou.

But hearing that something suddenly clinks in place and the mix of excitement circulating through his blood honed in on the question. ]

[ As cocky as Bakugou likes to act, this is what he's really after. He works hard now, and he expects those around him to do the same. It's a thrill when they're up for the challenge... especially someone like Todoroki. ]

Hell yeah, that's what I like.

[he's not even gonna deny it or get weird about it this time. ]

[ The smile for once doesn't look predatory but softer. Almost like he was having fun. ]

And you want to fight me?

[superchill]

[ Just don't tell him that. ]

[ Todoroki has long ignored his over the top threats from day one. He's not going to take them seriously now. ]
