Congratulations: You are dead.

 

Maybe you know how, maybe you don't. Perhaps the memory is fuzzy, or perhaps it's crystal clear down to the look in your comrades' eyes. Maybe it was your time; you've done all you wanted to. Or maybe you weren't at all ready to go, maybe you went out kicking and screaming - but none of it matters. You know you're dead, and the train is taking you to an afterlife. Perhaps an afterlife of your choice; you might've earned that heaven. Or perhaps you've earned something else entirely.

 

It'll be a bit of a journey, though, so you might as well take your time and talk to the other people in your coach. Death knows no place: most of them are strangers, even from faraway worlds. But death knows no time either, so who knows, some of them may be people you know, even if last you knew, they were alive - or long gone.

 

Oh look, here comes the snack cart.

 

All the usual:

 

• Post with your character's name and canon in the subject line.

• Said character is now dead for whatever reason - canon, AU, what have you. They are on a train with other dead people from many other times, places and worlds.

• Characters don't know for a fact where they're headed - just a general awareness that they're going to some kind of afterlife. Whatever they think it is is up to the player.

• This meme is built especially for cross-canon interaction, and potentially for threadjacking and group threading - if you're interested, may be a good idea to state as much in your subject line.

Eponine is immediately upon the man in red. She recognizes him, of course. He'd seemed to be the one in charge- shooting Clacquesous, ordering everyone about. She'd seen him at the café, too, as she stood in the shadows, hoping for Marius.

So he was dead- the barricade must have fallen as she knew she would. These school boys were no match for the French guard, and she had said as much. That's why she'd been there. And that's why she was here.

Eponine removes her hat, dark, matted hair falling around her shoulders, ignoring the red stain across her chest and back. She could hardly tell where the blood was on the man in red. But he was dead, same as she was.

She seizes on to the leader's collar, and with all of her strength pushes him against the wall of the train car. "My brother- What of him?"

[ It was bound to happen sooner or later- the world isn't a place for kids anymore. Not that he'd had much kid left in him, growing up as quickly as he'd had to. Dying hadn't really been as scary, it's the after that's got him anxious. He wanted to believe that there was a heaven and he was going to it, but that darker part of his head tells a different story. There's not really anyone else around to ask where this train is heading, nor even how long it was meant to take. Carl's not sure if he's ready for judgment just yet..

In the meantime, he takes to investigating, peering into different compartments. He doesn't expect to see anyone he knows, so it startles him to see an achingly familiar face staring back at him. ]

Sometimes he sits and stares out a window at the cloudy nothingness beyond, and sometimes he wanders restlessly, with a resigned air, searching to see if there's anything new this time. Or if anyone needs a pointer or two in a certain direction, anyway--]

I think the snack cart's going to come by this way in a few minutes. ...You know, if you want snacks, or something.

[ He doesn't know how he finds Mercutio. Doesn't know how long he's been here, how long he's been walking the cars of this train, whether he's really gone anywhere at all. He suspects time means little in this place.

Elsinore seems to have been ages ago. Elsinore seems to have been moments ago, to still be in occurrence, his arm wrapped around his uncle's neck as he pours poison down the villain's throat, his own body burning with that same poison. There are times he looks around expecting to see the court, their shock at the turmoil unfolding. There are times he thinks it was all a dream, that he's been here all along and there never was a ghost. It's tricky to keep track of what's true and what isn't.

But he knows the sight of that man. Knows the set of those shoulders, and knows he can't - won't - slip by without remark. Because as much as Hamlet desires silence, it's... good, almost, to find familiarity. To find someone who seems solid in the midst of all these memories.

Drawing to a pause, he manages a half-sigh, arms folded in a characteristic slouch. ]

The train station, devoid of life, away from any sign of positivity in its atmosphere. What should a place where many would come, and go was only awaiting ground for one trip to the unknown

On the very edge of the trains road, stood a young man wearing a white tunic with black hair and white treads in front of it. His blue eyes, holding no light on them saw the dark entrance of the tunnel, hoping the transport would come soon enough to end this long wait.


"I see I'm not alone in this?"

The noble figure called, sensing someone else had entered into the area, greeting him with a polite tone despite not knowing who this individual was.
