Congratulations: You are dead.

 

Maybe you know how, maybe you don't. Perhaps the memory is fuzzy, or perhaps it's crystal clear down to the look in your comrades' eyes. Maybe it was your time; you've done all you wanted to. Or maybe you weren't at all ready to go, maybe you went out kicking and screaming - but none of it matters. You know you're dead, and the train is taking you to an afterlife. Perhaps an afterlife of your choice; you might've earned that heaven. Or perhaps you've earned something else entirely.

 

It'll be a bit of a journey, though, so you might as well take your time and talk to the other people in your coach. Death knows no place: most of them are strangers, even from faraway worlds. But death knows no time either, so who knows, some of them may be people you know, even if last you knew, they were alive - or long gone.

 

Oh look, here comes the snack cart.

 

All the usual:

 

• Post with your character's name and canon in the subject line.

• Said character is now dead for whatever reason - canon, AU, what have you. They are on a train with other dead people from many other times, places and worlds.

• Characters don't know for a fact where they're headed - just a general awareness that they're going to some kind of afterlife. Whatever they think it is is up to the player.

• This meme is built especially for cross-canon interaction, and potentially for threadjacking and group threading - if you're interested, may be a good idea to state as much in your subject line.

Eponine is immediately upon the man in red. She recognizes him, of course. He'd seemed to be the one in charge- shooting Clacquesous, ordering everyone about. She'd seen him at the café, too, as she stood in the shadows, hoping for Marius.

So he was dead- the barricade must have fallen as she knew she would. These school boys were no match for the French guard, and she had said as much. That's why she'd been there. And that's why she was here.

Eponine removes her hat, dark, matted hair falling around her shoulders, ignoring the red stain across her chest and back. She could hardly tell where the blood was on the man in red. But he was dead, same as she was.

She seizes on to the leader's collar, and with all of her strength pushes him against the wall of the train car. "My brother- What of him?"

Nothing has quite the stopping power of death.

Enjolras is not remotely used to being stopped. Beyond the haze of being blasted out of France and into whatever this is, he would be hard pressed to put a finger on the last time someone actually stopped him from moving forward.

But now he's here. Now he's standing with empty hands--no flag, no gun, no strange comfort of another human pulse--and the wall against his back holding him up.

One hand shifts briefly to his chest, a strangely empty sensation, before it moves to swat the young woman's hand away. "He must be here."

Whatever the cause, Ophelia can barely lift her head from where it's sunk down toward her own chest. The continuing waves of numbness are a little easier to swim with her shoulders turned in and her eyes on her own tightly clasped hands.]

I expect it doesn't matter much now.

Looking for someone? [CLEARLY. A man in a green mantle appears, somewhat suddenly. His hood is pulled up and not much is visible beyond the lit end of a cigarette and a chin.] Otherwise, I guess you can call me darling if you want to.
