Everybody has them. Some are louder than others. Some are stronger. Some are overwhelming, and sooner or later you just give up fighting. But there are other people around you who want to help you - maybe they're suffering too, either because of your inner monster or their own. Or maybe they're one of the lucky ones with demons that don't howl so much.

[It's his turn to duck his head and bite his lip. Glancing down and away. Out the window, trying to ignore painful memories.]

There were arguments. Things that were said that I regretted. It drove a wedge between me and Richard. That's probably why he didn't give you the letters I sent.

We were very angry at each other for a very long time. And it breaks my heart to think that -- that we never got the chance to forgive each other.

[He sounds very young, voice cracking with tears at the end.] But I loved him. I always loved him.

[She's oddly not overcome with emotion as he seems to be, not even at the mentions of her father, as raw as she still feels about it. But he seems sincere enough and she looks back at him once more.]

You think he'd have wanted you to look after us.

I hope so. It's my way of trying to make amends.
