[On a lonesome highway, out in the middle of nowhere, a motorcycle is broken down on the side of the road. Beside it, a man is squatting down, fiddling with the bike in an a small attempt to repair the problem. It's rough going, a problem that he's not exactly sure that he is going to be able to repair by himself. Especially not without the right parts, tools or access to an auto parts store.

The man is not the type to call and ask for assistance. Currently, it's just better for everyone if he tries to do this alone. He doesn't want the people looking for him to find him. A growl can be heard from the man as he gets more and more frustrated.]

[Out of the blue, Missy decided to make good on her promise to help Taneleer Tivan with his collecting. She bundled him into her TARDIS, giving no indication of how long they'd be gone. All he got was the meaningless offer to have him back within five minutes of their departure. With her machine, that could mean anything. As an afterthought, she did say that he could bring his puppy too. That should have tipped him off. They've been at it for weeks and weeks. For a species who can taste time on her tongue and feel it at her fingertips, Missy has the most horrendous sense of timing.

They've been going almost non-stop. She needs an hour of sleep every once in a while. He doesn't really need anything, she's aware, but her TARDIS makes provisions for him pretending. They've spent the days acquiring things he can't obtain by his usual methods, and zipping around mostly, not exclusively, within his own universe. A couple of their investigations came to nothing and most of them took unexpected turns.

His life's purpose gives her lunacy some much-needed direction. She isn't benevolent enough to travel from emergency to emergency helping strangers, but she can get behind this conservation stuff. It hasn't been an entirely innocent jaunt. They've abducted a few sentient beings. They've manipulated, coerced and arguably stolen. She's engineered problems in the past for them to solve in the present, so they can then demand to be rewarded with whatever-it-is they came to collect in the first place. Missy finds it fun or funny, and that's all she needs it to be. She's not quite sure whether she's ticking all the boxes for Taneleer, but she is enthusiastically trying.

She's beginning to realise what the Collector lacks and where he differs from garden-variety lifeforms. It hasn't put her off. She wouldn't convert him into more of a normal somebody even if she could. He has his own merits, being so odd and unlike anyone else. She never gets tired of the bewildered looks on people's faces when they have to interact with him for any length of time. She's often guilty of letting him do the talking, just to see what he'll say and how many flourishes he'll say it with. She snickers like a loon in the background.

She teases him endlessly, but she's never forgotten the strictly-professional association that started it all. He doesn't need to have many feelings about the whole trip. It's probably for the best if he doesn't. He's curious. That's all she can handle, really. That's all she's ready for. If he had the delicate and changeable emotions of a mortal being, she thinks she would have made enemies of him already. Next to him, she's only a young thing, but her attitude and her carelessness feel somehow world-weary. Her lifestyle is fantastically dangerous by design. She wasn't exaggerating when she described herself as a wanted criminal. She's tempting fate every second, relying on flashes of inspiration as much as careful planning. Taneleer is not the only formidable, unscrupulous person she acts invulnerable around. It's just her way, and causing problems for herself makes her feel alive.

No matter what kind of trouble she stirs up, she doesn't rely on his help to get out of it. Taneleer's vast knowledge is a boundless resource and a potentially incredible asset, but she'll never expect him to do anything the slightest bit inconvenient for him. She'd never make him a vital part of her own machinations. She wouldn't want either of them to make the mistake of trusting the other.]

We can't stop here, this is bat country!

[Presently, the madwoman is doing some hunt-and-peck button pressing on the central TARDIS console. Judging from her expression, one might think she doesn't know what half the buttons do.]

What's next on the shopping list? Bearing in mind that I'm not getting you a Tyrannosaurus rex, even as an embryo. My ex-girlfriend and I had a really bad experience.
