meh.

- Comment with your character.
- Write preferences, if you got them.
- Write one place your character would really love to travel to.
- Respond to other people.
Prompts:
- Go to MapCrunch and hit go. That's where you are. Is that where you want to go?
- Your vehicle just broke down. What now?
- You're trying to get aboard that one vehicle, but the owner apparently needs some convincing to give you a ride. Paying for a ticket or just hitchhiking? Your call.
- You're stowing away in someone else's vehicle and hope you won't get caught. But you just were.
- You're at a rest stop or roadside tourist attraction. You meet the most interesting people at these places, don't you?
- You're seeing flashing lights in your rear view mirror or the closest equivalent thereof. Looks like someone ran a red light or was driving faster than the speed limit. What now?

[He takes note of the book, and how important it seems to be, as it's in much better condition than everything else about her, including herself]
You can call home from here inside me. I can scramble the transmission so it won't be traced. Unless you're really gung ho about getting to... [He pulled up a map on his monitors] Cincinnati.
[KITT absorbs this information]
Who is this person, and why has he taken your friend?
[Definitely more than he bargained for. Time to call Michael and apologize, but it seems he won't be home tonight.
He's rather disappointed that his background check has come back so distressingly normal, though why she's so far from home he can't say]
And yes, Kit's record is ALSO normal. XD
Think we'd want to be further than that - something more small-town. I don't plan on drawing attention to myself either way.
[Aaand how to explain? Might be best to stick to what this version of Its mortal self has been up to.]
He's - let's just say 'devious' doesn't even begin to cover it. A real down-deep sort of schemer, picks on the lowest rungs of the social latter. He's really clever at talking people over to his side, too, even if you're warned ahead of time. Kit- his full name's Christopher Rodriguez, though I'm not sure that'll help explain anything - caught up to him first, and-
I can't contact him at all, now.
[Her breathing quickens all throughout her explanation. She's not quite hyperventilating by the end of it, but she is clearly stressing herself right back out over things.]
Ah, good to know, as he'll look that up, too
There are many small towns along the way and beyond. Eastern Ohio is rather rural in nature. [There's the barest hint of amusement in his voice] I may not have been the best choice of ride if you're not looking to draw any attention.
[He listens carefully as she explains, researching this Christopher - Kit, good name there - as soon as she says it]
I'll see what I can do. Do you know the name of this schemer? What sorts of things has he done?
[His medical scans have picked up on her distress, so he pumps extra oxygen into the cabin in an attempt to help calm her]
You're safe here. I'll help.
/casually comes up with an infodump on the spot.
[With invisibility spells, she only just cuts herself off from asking. She does not want to make things bizarre so fast! Creeping out the talking car does not make for a good plan by her logic.]
As for the guy, well, this time he went by the name Andrew. Andrew Young.
[Put together, it's a common name; the Lone Power's agent in this fight looks more like an average college student, with a criminal reputation echoing the more shady sides associated with that front.
There's nothing to hint at a history of kidnapping, though, much less this Andrew's cult of personality.
Nita takes time to just breathe before continuing, however.]
... Thanks.
Awesome :)
[Spells, however, are a different beast altogether! Some people may in fact be creeped out by KITT, but at least his development could all be explained as a product of scientific research and application]
Oh dear. That isn't exactly an uncommon name, which means researching this particular Andrew Young could take quite a bit of time.
[And being realistic, Nita hasn't given him a lot to go on. Perhaps if he cross-referenced this Andrew with Kit? He gets to work, slogging through the internet records he can find that match those names. It's slow going]
Of course. You're more than welcome.
I can't remember if we ever were told the name of Nita's high school...
It's probably that way on purpose.
[She hisses out a sigh, rubbing the spine of her Manual unconsciously.]
... Used to be, we just had to deal with bullies. Kinda wish life was still only that complicated, sometimes.
[Funnily enough, if Kitt looks hard enough he can find a video from four years ago - apparently someone had thought making that video and tagging it with Kit's name had been a good idea after all. And that video poster's older brother was, in fact, an Andrew Young.]

You're probably correct. If someone doesn't want to be found, a common name is a good cover.
[The book intrigues him, especially its mint condition given the rest of her flustered and disheveled appearance]
Oh?
[Her lowered voice wasn't low enough for him not to hear her...]
Why don't you start from the beginning and tell me everything I need to know to help you?
[It would be so much less taxing on his circuits. Meanwhile, his current searching has indeed brought up a video, which he doesn't mention just yet, wanting to see what she has to say first]
I hope this sounds coherent. >.<
Well, we hadn't been given too much advanced notice on what he was up to - Kit was the one who found out first, and since we tend to work best together...
I mean, we've been working together for a long while before all this, but Andrew had never been on our radar. Then we picked up on someone brainwashing people, and it sort of snowballed. Turns out he has connections, too.
[Nita grimaces.]
He tended to focus on girls, though, so why he didn't try to grab me instead, or go after one of our sisters, as a way to get to Kit...
no subject
How did you pick up on the brainwashing? And how did it lead you to Andrew?
[Unfortunately KITT is feeling very lost in the dark about what is going on. He can glean bits and pieces, but a whole picture? The puzzle is still missing too many pieces]
Perhaps this Kit presented an easier target at the time.

... Kit and I know the signs. More because we've seen it happen before than because of anything like it happening to us, though.
[Alright, so the influence the Lone Power could exert on the Yaldiv as a species was different from how It could affect humans, but that feeling of pressure into agreeing with him/It and going along with them was similar and distressing.]
Yeah, maybe. Wouldn't write off it being a grudge either, though.
[She's keeping an eye out for what can make for a good stop - and then her Manual pings. Her expression of pure shock is a picture.]
Uh...
