The Body Heat Meme



Post with your character! They're now stuck in a very cold place of your choice. It can be anything, such as a freezing chamber, a cavern or a small cabin in the midst of a blizzard. The choice is up to you.
Comment around! Now your character has some company in this bone-chilling environment. The two of them share two things in common: clothes completely unfitting for this weather (be they summer clothes or even lingerie) and a blanket.
A blanket? Yes, just one warm blanket and no other ways to escape the cold. The two of them will have to share it in order to stay alive in this weather. Don't worry, you're sure to find a common language in this terrible situation!
So, uh, have fun, I suppose. Try to not freeze to death!
Protip: friction and body heat are both excellent ways to fend off cold.

[ Eddie and Bill ended up as roommates in college. It's not totally by coincidence, they'd definitely angled for it once they got accepted to the same school. There'd been no guarantee, though.

But, now it's dead winter and the heater is out and it's freezing...

Bill had talked to maintenance already and they had said it could be hours before it's fixed -- maybe longer.

He's not particularly looking forward to when Eddie gets back -- there will probably be a long breakdown about pneumonia in his future. ]

(Truthfully, Eddie wasn't so sure he would have ever been able to room with a complete stranger. At least by now, he knew Bill's habits and baisc hygienic principals to not sweat sharing a space with him.

Being a poor college kid? It's just about one of the shittiest things. It was end of the semester just about. Which meant Eddie was worked over (just like everyone else on campus) with papers and projects, so when he arrives back at their place and realizes that stepping inside felt barely any different than standing outside?

Oh yeah, there was an issue. He stops just in the doorway, frozen mid-way through pulling off his jacket. His mouth pinches into a frown.)

Bill? Why's it so cold in here?

[ Bill is huddled toward one corner of his bed with all his blankets wrapped around him an a textbook and notebook spread open on the bed in front of him. He's clearly already been suffering the cold of the room for a while. He probably should have spent some of that time in the warm library but he hadn't really thought it through at the time. ]

The heater's broken... Maintenance is trying to get it fixed but...

[ There's a pause. ]

It might be a while...

(Eddie stares at Bill, stares at the ceiling, and then closes his eyes. This was honestly the last thing he felt like dealing with. He keeps his shoes by the door and walks across the room, already regretting not being in something way warmer.)

Okay. Okay fine.

(Muttering lowly. He pulls off his jacket, and the clothes underneath. His pants were wet from snow, and that wasn't going to help him any. He tugs on a fresh shirt, some sweats, and the pair of socks he got that were wool to go hiking with. He pulls on a hoodie, and goes to his own bed. He pulls off the blanket, dragging it across the room, and then proceeds to step up onto Bill's bed.)

Move over. (The beds were small and they were gonna have to make this work.)

[ The cold was pretty bad, and the sharp wind seemed to cut right through his clothes and skin to chill him to the bone, but Quatre didn't say a word of complaint as they walked. Not like it would have helped - nor would it have been new information for Trowa. So why waste breath when he could focus on putting one foot in front of the other?

But now they're finally out of the wind, in a small ramshackle hut that at least has supplies for them. Food. Blankets.

No fuel for the stove that they can find.

Quatre gives a silent sigh, but starts stripping out of the snow-and-ice encrusted clothes. It won't do to have the wet clothes on. Blankets, though thinner, are dry, so better.

That is, he tries. Working the buttons seems to be a problem as his fingers absolutely refuse to bend, and he tries to force them which results in hissing in pain - and frustration. ]

[The hut was well supplied with food and blankets so that wasn't a problem. Of course however, there wasn't anything to fuel a fire. With the snow falling as it was, Trowa couldn't go out and get wood to get something going. Forget the fact that the wood be water logged; too cold to do it as night was falling.

Maybe conditions would improve in the morning. But for now, they had to make do with what they had.

Yes, dry blankets were much better than wet clothes. He was starting to get out of his clothes when he heard Quatre hiss. He walked over immediately, carefully taking Quatre's hand. His hands were so cold. They must really hurt. He held Quatre's hand gently between his own. His hands were cold too, but he seemed to be doing better]

We'll have to share the blankets. That will help with staying warm.

[ Quatre's eyes shot up when Trowa's fingers wrapped around his, but then his face softened helplessly at the gentleness of the touch - he couldn't quite feel it, but he could see the way Trowa's hands moved. ]

All right. I... as soon as I'm out of the clothes, I'll try to do some exercise to warm up a little, too, so there is warmth to preserve. But... I'd appreciate help just now.

[ Beat. ]

After you take your clothes off, though, because that'll be faster and you'll move more easily then.

[ He was very far from refusing the help. But... he was so not going to let himself stay an icicle leaching on Trowa's warmth. If they were going to share body heat, he'd better bring some of that. He thought. ]

[It was cold. They had several hours before anyone was going to come for them. They were stuck in some abandoned waystation somewhere. And supplies were painfully low... including the one blanket available to keep them warm. Keith had huddled himself into a ball, trying stubbornly not to admit that he was cold because, ugh... this was awkward.]

[It was always fun when you stranded somewhere. Luckily they weren't going to be here forever, but it would be far too much time with minimal supplies. Shiro had attempted to see if he could find any supplies or see if he could get the heating system to work, but to no avail.

It was definitely cold. They really only had minimal food and one blanket. With no heat it was all they had. As he came back over from trying to figure out the heat to see Keith sitting their huddled in on himself]

We might as well share the blanket, try to stay warm.

[Keith watched Shiro trying to figure the place out, and then shrugged slightly, trying to play nonchalant about this.]

I guess...

[Okay, he couldn't help the shiver. Blanket sharing was probably going to happen whether he wanted it to or not.]
