For all Morgana likes to moan about the longer tours, Horatio does spend some long stretches not far from shore. He can't exactly leave every weekend, true, but it's much easier to be in touch when he's out just beyond the bay rather than days away in a different timezone.

He tells himself that it's just that their schedules keep happening to line up. He tells himself that he's definitely going to take Bill up on that offer to introduce him to some of his single friends. He tells himself that it's normal and perfectly friendly to keep in touch with Archie while he's away.

But it's always Archie, these past few weeks, that his fingers jump to text whenever he has news. It's always Archie his mind shifts to when there's even half a possibility he'll have a minute to see someone off of the base.

Any chance you're free this weekend? I'll be back in town tomorrow night.
