There are many supernatural beings that congregate in groups for survival or protection or just for companionship, not unlike humans. Witches have covens. Vampires have nests. But none of those have connections that can compare to the bond of a werewolf pack.

You should know. You're part of one, either born a werewolf or turned. For humans, blood is thicker than water; for wolves, the pack is to the bone. Of course, with humans, romantic relationships can complicate closeness of other sorts. That's not the case with werewolf pairings, as they tend to grow out of natural pack dynamics and are viewed as just another facet of life. The only difference is that werewolves tend to treat relationships, even potential would-be-mates, with extreme seriousness.

After all, you'll fight for your pack, so you'll fight for your mate, won't you?

[He turned to meet her gaze, giving a puzzled glare of his own.]

What the fuck are you talking about?

[He doesn't know the truth about her relationship with Kilgrave. It was assumed they were simply mates. Alpha and beta, only already it's become obvious there's much more to her than meets the eye.]

Kilgrave, you fucking idiot. The wolf that's trying to take your territory. The one you need to be concerned about. He's the one that wants your stupid pack. None of us give a shit. He needs to die before he comes back with more people. With a better plan.

[She stood then, hands pushing her hair back from her face, ignoring the fact she was naked and just feeling too many different types of frustration bubbling up in her.]

So let me go kill him and you won't see either of us again.

Wait just a fucking minute. He's your leader. Your alpha. You talk about him this way?

[He doesn't understand what she's saying because it makes no sense to him. He stares at her in disbelief.]

I know he's your mate. You reeked of him when you came here. But you wanna kill him?

[She snarled at him, pissed off that Kilgrave's desire to have her as a mate had been perceived that way by others. God, she wanted to tear his fucking throat out with her teeth.]

[He reaches out automatically, hands going towards her shoulders like touching her is going to help her calm down. He stops himself, recalling why that's probably a bad idea.

Actually now there might be a new reason why that's a bad idea.]

Hang on. Walk me through this. You're saying he has another power, outside of being a wolf? And that it's mind control? You're having me on.

[She knew it. She knew it was coming, it always did, and yet she found herself feeling an irrational amount of rage over it. Staring at him, her entire body went utterly still, freezing in place as her eyes were the only thing that changed, the wolf staring out at him as her rage and fury leaked out of her with her scent.]

[The sheer amount of her anger sent a chill over him. Not enough of a chill for his tastes, though. Also that fire sort of fed more into his lustful instinct also.

He groaned inwardly. This was getting so annoying.

Putting his hands up palms facing her though he tried to focus on one problem at a time.]

It's not an alpha thing. [He scrubs a hand down his face, grimacing with an audible sound.] Look, you're not wolf-born, right? So maybe you've never heard of it. There was a visible shudder that went through her before she snapped her gaze back up to his, mind clouded by her thoughts before she pushed her wolf back enough to breathe.]

Jessica Jones. I know you're Shaw something. He didn't mention names beyond the clan name.

[He was having a tricky time himself, not remembering the feel of her shape beneath him. Compact curves and slender limbs. Not noticing her long dark hair lying against the pale expanse of her naked form.]

It's Owen. Owen Shaw. [He sounds vaguely huffy, annoyed that Kilgrave didn't bother to distinguish them beyond that.] All right, Jessica, let's work this through here shall we? You attacked us. You invaded our territory knowing what it meant. So there's no reason for us to trust you. We can't just let you go, like that, not on your word. But you say you want to actually take down your -- this Kilgrave. If that's true then we have something in common. A reason to want to work together.

One thing you need to understand, your whole clan does; no one he has with him is attacking you of their own free will. Every single wolf he has with him is under his control. He's a sadistic piece of shit and he will throw the entire world in front of him and walk on their corpses to get what he wants. We attacked you because we literally had no choice. As soon as he turned and ran, how many stayed?

Thought it was just because his pack was poorly organized, and weak.

[He frowns though as he thinks about it. She makes a point, now that he recalls how the fighting went.]

And you? When you attacked us, were you completely under his control? Because I have to say, that seemed some pretty watered down fighting compared to what you just did here and now.

I've found some loopholes. I can pull my punches unless he explicitly demands otherwise. I can fight slower, miss a shot. It's all about following the letter of his commands. [A flash of fear as she realized what she'd shared with him, that fear mingling in with her scent of steadily growing arousal. She couldn't trust him. Not yet. Hell, she didn't even know him. The only thing she knew was that her skin was vibrating with need for him to touch her, which was something that was getting harder and harder to think through.]

[It's good to know. Certainly useful information that he's going to tell the others about as soon as he gets a chance. If Kilgrave comes back or they want to chase after him to finish the job, it's good to know ahead of time what his limits are. Assuming this is all the truth, of course.

She's probably in the right not to trust him. He doesn't want to be her ally, he doesn't necessarily want to help her. But if working together is to his benefit then he can do that. He's practical that way.

Though he's also well aware that the...bond between them, could be influencing how he feels and thinks of her. This is bad. He's going to have to bring the others in on this and fast if only to make sure he doesn't get swept up and into a mistake.

When he catches that scent of fear underneath the rest of it though he looks over at her. And treats her to slow smirk.]

You're not so dumb as you look. I like that. Good; you shouldn't trust me. It's smart to be careful. Thing is, right now you have no choice.

[Anger flared a bit through the fear and arousal, and her hand curled into a fist.]

Come a little closer and say both of those again.

[She was torn; wanting to take a step forward to punch him in his smug, smirking face, but knowing that it was a very slippery slope if she moved right now, because other wants were making themselves known in a way that she was struggling with. It was bad enough being bitten and turned, having to learn things that born wolves had an inherent advantage in. It made it worse when she didn't seem to be normal in her turning and hadn't had the time to learn everything about herself. Like how to turn off something like this. It was stupid. Ridiculous. And a part of her was pretty sure he was lying and this was some stupid alpha thing he was doing to try to manipulate her.

He could thank Kilgrave for that. She had less trust for 'dominant' wolves than most others.]

I've had no choice before. This is nothing like that. You just might not like which one I pick.

[He gives her a flat look, a silent 'oh please' implied. He's cocky, and if he isn't stronger than her he still thinks he's smarter, certainly with better control.]

Even if you do get by me, Jessica, you'll still have to get through the rest of us. My older brother, our parents, and the rest of the pack. Do you really think you can fight your way past them all? [He leers, more pointed:] Do you really think you have the stomach to?

[She doesn't want to kill them all. So it seems. Which certainly puts her at a disadvantage. If you're part of the Shaw pack, then you're ruthless, or you don't last long.]

Besides...you say you want to take care of Kilgrave. But you can't actually defeat him yourself. How can you, if he'll just keep controlling you? Sounds like you need our help.

[On the last sentence he moves in, intending to try to loom over her a little. Only he miscalculated what would happen if he closed distance between the two of them.

Her scent is thick in his nose, intoxicating. Before he knows what he's doing he has his hand firmly beneath her chin, trying to press his naked body against hers and go in for a kiss.]

[He most certainly has better control than her, especially over his wolf. He's a born wolf. Any born wolf would know more than a bitten one. Being smarter than her, she'd debate that, because as far as she was concerned, she knew more. She knew the truth of what both she was capable of and what Kilgrave was, and that put her in the driver's seat. But goddamn, did she want to wipe that smirk off his face when he said her name like that. Like he was deigning to do her a favor, talking to her slowly, like she was stupid.]

Look, asshole, just because I don't want to doesn't mean I can't or won't. There's more at stake here than your dumb little pack. I know what he's capable of. You don't. I know you don't believe it's possible. No one ever does, until it's too late. Do you know how many people I've tried to warn off while getting that same holier than thou look you're giving me now?

[She snorts her own sound of disdain at him, about to continue putting a spiky, verbal wall between them before she stops, surprised by the move. She didn't know what his intention had been, but between one breath and the next, he was suddenly there, pressed against her, making her stop breathing in one last ditch effort to keep her head clear before his scent took her over.

But it wasn't just his scent. There was something so very male about him, aside from the obvious, something that had a low chant starting in the back of her mind, like her wolf was prancing from one paw to the next. Mate, mate, mate, mate. She wasn't entirely sure if the wolf wanted him to be one or if it was telling her what to do, but his hand on her chin made her skin prickle, goosebumps breaking out all over. Whatever she was going to say was lost as his mouth came down on hers. Her hand was at his chest with the intention to push him away -- far, far away, but it slid up to hook around his neck as his taste flooded her mouth.

[He wants to take her, make her his, with strength and maybe force but at the same time to please her, to serve her, to meld her into him and form a bond with her. One that shall never be broken, matched in spirit as well as body.

Though at the moment there is plenty, plenty to focus on about her body. As her hand loops around his neck one of his reaches to tangle in her hair, running it greedily between his fingers, the other going to the small of her back, to stroke her firmly up and down her spine. Continuing to press her to him.

Part of her thought it was him, that he was behind this, making her want him somehow in a way that a wolf with mind control had never managed.

Even as she was trying to push him away, she was licking her lips, a low, needy whine leaving her as she tasted him on them, as she felt his cock pressing against her stomach, making her knees go weak in a way that had her looking up at him in surprise.]

[The growl that was building in his chest escapes him, both out of frustration at her pulling away and a uneasy desperation he feels about this all of his own.]
