It's a splendid night for a party!

You received an invitation to a masquerade party and after wondering who exactly throws these things anymore outside of people in Italy and the strange people in that Vanilla Sky movie, you've decided to attend! Decked out in your best (or maybe not so best - it may have been last minute, after all), you descend on the party and prepare to make it a night to remember.

Is it your friend's annual Halloween party with a twist? Perhaps you're an international spy, trying to find out the best way to steal the Crown Jewels. Maybe this is part of Spirit Week at your high school and you really wish that your classmates would be more creative next time.

Elaborate Venetian, playful animals, dazzling supernatural creatures - the night is young. Have fun.

This is not a RNG meme. Your characters' role and situation is entirely up to you. "But how do you play?" you might ask. It's as simple as 1, 2, 3!

1.) Post with your character. In the subject line, type of your character's name and canon. If you'd like, in the comment section, you can describe what mask/costume your character is wearing.
2.) Tag around! This is a party after all, and your character can't find any of their usual crew behind their masks (or maybe they can and need to tease them mercilessly for their choice of costume).
3.) Profit!

[The Doctor traveled dimensions all the time, it was no wonder that he'd eventually end up at a masquerade ball - and of course, in a mask, though it was a simple one. the rest of his clothes remained the same, making him look somewhat out of place. The only reason he was staying there was because of the suspicious angel statue that he was almost sure didn't belong. After getting a drink, the Doctor began to make he way towards the statue. However, he bumped into a woman and almost spilled his drink on her...]

[Don't be dancing with too many of those guests, Raoul. You've got a date, after all. Christine is just as nervous as he, but her nerves center more around glimpsing a figure in red among the revelers than having the chandelier fall.

However, the only one in red she's seen so far is a woman, and she's quite certain that said woman is not someone in disguise. Weaving through the crowd, Christine is by Raoul's side immediately. Her fingers close around his.]

Around her, Oswin sees a ballroom, people dressed in gowns and tuxedos (a little out of date, she has to say, like they're from the early twenty first century). Everyone dances slowly, rhythmically, all lost in their own little worlds. It's all quite romantic, if not a little strange. Though, for some reason, she's standing by herself by the punch bowl.

Without taking much notice of Oswin yet, Eponine sways ever so slightly to the music, her eyes sparkling. She doesn't need a dance partner. All she needs is this moment.]

Sigrun and Nathaniel have commissioned the gown, Velanna's gotten her the mask, and the armor smiths have made certain that her corset is well fit in case of a fight. Isn't that sad?

As Warden-Commander of Amaranthine (and Ferelden, in a sense), she's keeping an eye out for the queen in the only way she knows how. She goes to join her and gives her a formal bow, one used for those in armor and not for those in skirts.]

[Irene moves through the ballroom with easy poise. She is almost unrecognizable, with subtle auburn highlights in her elaborate updo and an equally elaborate silver mask hiding her features. Between the sharp pale eyes and the fitted white and silver gown she wears, she is almost ethereal, haunting the masquerade.]

The detective is upon her, his night blue mask covering him from nose to forehead, the charcoal gray tux he wore fit him perfect, the tails whipping behind him as he moved. once he is upon her he knows it its her, they way her body moves he will never forget....it haunting him in a way, between the lines of curiosity and warning.

"You do stick out as a wolf in this crowd of sheep Irene."

His voice low as he sticks out a hand for her to take, his grey blue eyes fixed on her, waiting for her to make her first move.

[Frau feels right at home at the social event. He isn't shy when it comes to drawing attention to himself, and this masquerade ball is no different. No brats along either!

In a corner, adorned in his own mask and wearing his usual trench coat, he flirts with a crowd of ladies while pouring their drinks at the punch table.]

It wasn't something she did often, these kinds of super-fancy parties, but masks? That just sounded like too much fun to pass up! Even if she didn't have a date, it didn't matter, because she would just have too much fun being alone, anyway, kesesese~

Her dress is a deep Prussian blue to match her half-mask over her eyes and the corset laced around her middle. In stark contrast are the laced boots under the long flowing skirt of the dress, and though only their rounded toes were visible beneath the dress's long hem, they extended to just below her knee.

For now, she waits near the buffet table, humming to herself as she glances about with a glass of white wine in hand.

Likewise, Alfred never actually went to parties like this...ever. To him they were always just way to uptight for his tastes. And why try and meet someone if you're identity is supposed to be secret? It all just served to confuse him to no end. Still, he did get invited here, rather politely as well, so why not?

Granted that he was also currently taking advantage of the buffet table, scarfing down treat after treat, though amazingly he didn't get his costume dirty, yet. Which was probably a blessing, as any stain would show on the white jacket and undershirt. Though that didn't mean that his white jacket, or equally white pants, were spared from having a few crumbs land on them. As he munched, he itched a spot underneath the plain, black mask that covered the top portion of his face.

Looking around for a moment or two before spotting Julchen, looking her over for a few moments as he attempted to find out just why she seemed so familiar before deciding to approach the woman and find out.

"Hey there miss~! Enjoyin' the party?"

The Tardis, in convenient people-shape, was there, over by the buffet, wearing a three piece suit of cobalt blue, with an elegant eye mask decorated like the cosmos, with a spiral galaxy for one eye and a faint dusting of super-fine, silver-blue glitter over the rest.

It had been way too long since the Cutters had gotten to crash a bash, especially one this fancy. Somewhere along the way Shay had gotten separated from the rest of the group, but she didn't mind, she knew they'd find each other again.

She was wearing a simple brushed silk jumpsuit in a steel-gray, and a metal half-mask to match, a wolf's face, teeth bared, ears perked, it suited her.

Apollo (Inception OC) - OTA

Apollo was keeping an eye on things, as was his job for the evening. His suit was basic black, aside from the teases of color here and there, gold thread pinstripes in his slacks and his waistcoat, an amber, sun-shaped tie tack, and of course a coppery sun half mask to go with it.

Icarus (Rule 63 Ariadne - Inception) | OTA

Icarus was dressed as his namesake, wings made of real feathers, beeswax and all. They were nothing short of a masterpiece, which was exactly what he'd told Henri, the friend from university who'd made them, along with: 'I can't wear these'. Of course, Henri had laughed and assured him that he could and that they'd look marvelous. And they did.

The rest of his costume matched as well, of course, a long tunic and sandals, his mask was simple, leather, embossed with feather patterns.

Charles Xavier | XMFC | OTA

Charles had decided that simple and sophisticated was a better idea than ostentatious, which was why he was wearing the dove-gray suit, a pale blue tie, and a plain blue-gray mask to match both.

He wasn't even entirely sure what this fundraiser was for, but he was here all the same, had to make an appearance.

This is my first time writing in this form. Feel free to point out erors.

Rydia was here simply for the reason that it was her benefactor that was the host and had send her an invitation. She couldn't refuse that and had picked out a simply, but nice green dress, crafted a mask out of feathers and covered her hair with a scarf.

She was smiling and chatting to the other guest, but as soon as she toughed no one looked at her a troubled look came over her face.

Arthur (Inception) - OTA

Arthur didn't have many truly bespoke suits, in fact, he had two, one of which he was wearing at the moment, dark brown, almost russet, really.

He was wearing it with a narrow black tie-on mask and a fedora, making him look like some combination of Zorro and Eliot Ness, which was a look that worked for him, oddly enough.

Aja had been surprised by the invitation to the gala one of her clients was throwing, but she didn't mind, except for the fact that it was masquerade and she had no idea what to do, at least until someone else on the crew had suggested that she go as Capricorn.

Dressing as a goat was out, as was dressing as a constellation, but she made do with a deep purple dress, a drape to match, speckled with dark, iridescent rhinestones. Her necklace matched, and was, at least, in the shape of the Capricorn constellation, and her mask was simple, with nubby goat's horns on a headband above it, resting almost invisibly in her hair.

Clint 'Hawkeye' Barton - MCU - OTA

Clint cleaned up nice when the situation called for it. Granted, he didn't particularly like suits, but he knew what worked on him and what didn't, which was why he knew that dark colors and simple lines were his best bet.

Even his mask was simple, basic black, asymmetrical but stylized that way so it didn't just look like he'd put it on crooked. He was keeping an eye on things, as he was prone to doing.

Natasha was never a fan of masks, they often obscure her peripheral vision, but tonight it was a must. Hers was red with black lacy trim and black feathers; the skirt of her gown was long and full, which was also a nuisance, corset style with a low neckline and cap sleeves. Elbow length black gloves completed the look. Of course her dress did have a rather unique design: if it came down to fighting tonight the skirt could be easily detached so that her legs were free.

“Whose idea was it to attempt to approach Polanski at a masquerade ball?” she grumbled to Clint over the hidden comm link, her red lips barely moving. How was she was supposed to find her mark in this crowd?
