DARING RESCUE MEME You're in a predicament. That predicament is either: you need to be rescued. Bad. Even if you're technically safe you need to get out of whatever situation you're in. And if you're not safe, well... it's just more important then, isn't it? Your other option of course is that you need to rescue someone. You have to find them, get them out, get them to where they really belong. Or you're like, picking them up from a bad date. WHATEVER. No matter the severity of the situation, be careful how you go about it, huh? We wouldn't want to have any accidents. • Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. "She's at the hotel playgroup, we can check in on her once we're there, but we don't have to tell her anything." John assures; "She'll just be happy you're coming back to England with us."

Sherlock agrees to that. He doesn't know that she'll actually be happy about it.
No one really misses him. He doesn't think Alli will anyway.

When they get to the hotel, Rosie is with a group of kids and the creche assistant, standing near the pool and having just got out from the look of her dripping swimming costume.

"Daddy! SHERLOCK!" She almost explodes when she sees Daddy is holding Sherlock's hand and runs over to them.

Sherlock is a bit frozen...not used to being welcomed...

John grabs a towel and catches Rosie in it before she can soak Sherlock's legs with a hug. He wraps it around her until she looks like a cocoon with a head poking out.

"Careful, you." he tuts, rubbing her down.

She is still smiling at Sherlock.

"I knew you'd come back!"

Sherlock gives a shaky smile. Hopefully Alli hasn't followed them...
"You... you did?"

He doesn't care that he's left everything behind.

She nods and John lets her hug him after he's patted her down.

"Sweetie, would you be okay with us going home a little bit earlier?" John asks her, aware she's made a few friends.

"Sherlock coming home too?"

"...If it's what he wants..." John looks at him.

Sherlock nods. Better to leave now, before he fails at having any courage to stay away from Alli. Sherlock tries not to think about him and how heartbroken he'll be when -

"Yes, that's... that's fine." He says, quietly.

"Come on, we better get packing." John says brightly to Rosie.

She holds both Sherlock and John's hands and looks so thrilled.

In the room, John packs their things and Rosie chatters with Sherlock.

"I named my hedgehog." she tells him; "Hamish! After Daddy, because he's all prickly when he's called that name."

"No birthday presents for you this year." John tells her, jokingly.

He realises that Sherlock is just leaving with the clothes on his back.

"You sure you don't want your violin?"

Sherlock shakes his head. "It's not the same violin that I left with."
Part of him feels... the loss of it. "Alli broke the one I brought with me, and thought it... replaceable, with another, more expensive instrument."

He's oddly quiet, as he realizes how much ... Alli hurt him, how much he ... did, for Alli... a part of him feels angry and he doesn't know if he's allowed.

"That's horrible." Rosie says, giving him another cuddle.

"Is your old one still at Baker Street?" John asks; "Mrs. Hudson hasn't cleared out any of the stuff you left. I think she was hoping, like us, you'd come back."

"Yes, I'm glad I only took the spare."
The other is an heirloom and ... he... might be just a touch sentimental about it. "Mrs. Hudson should know better."

She should have given up on me.
At least John doesn't have to know ... how pitiful Sherlock really is.

"Baker Street is always going to be yours." He wants to say 'ours' but that's not possible anymore.

"Can we sleepover sometimes?" Rosie asks Sherlock.

Sherlock gives a smile. A small one. "I'd like that." John and Rosie can have the upstairs. To divide as they please, Sherlock... Sherlock would ruin anything physical between him and John. He always does.

He ruined Victor and he ruined Alli. It is probably his fault anyway...
Though a part of him is still... angry.

John feels a warm glow at the thought of staying at Baker Street a lot of the time again. And this time he would appreciate Sherlock. He would treat him as he deserves.

[[ooc: Night. I've been hallucinating all night from this cold so just gonna stay up. I've got one more day off and then back to work full-time. :(]]

Sherlock still looks a bit unsure of things, but ... accepts them. He's not trying to stir up trouble.

"Right, I've called Mycroft, he's got us an earlier flight at 9 so we can go in an hour to check in." John tells him while Rosie is distracted playing.

He stands near Sherlock on the balcony, looking out at the beautiful Italian rooftops as the sun sets.

"You okay?"

Sherlock shrugs.
Okay. What does that mean?
Not dead?

Okay is... a very generic relative term that is meaningless.

John almost reaches to touch his hand but thinks again, not sure if he should push it.

"You're doing the right thing. And that's not just me being bias because I fucking hate the man. You're doing the brave thing walking away."

Sherlock just nods. He doesn't feel brave or courageous or any of that.

John decides to give Sherlock his space to think. He makes sure Rosie has everything and his own case is packed before the taxi arrives.

He sighs with relief when they get to the airport. He'd feared Alli banging on the hotel door.

Sherlock is cheerful with Rosie, but he is quiet when he thinks she isn't looking...

If John sees that's his fault...

"Flight B23 Gatwick, that's us." John points out when they get to the airport and check their bags in. "We got an hour to kill, who wants a burger?"

"Me!" Rosie bounces.

"Hungry, Sherlock?" He shouldn't need to ask. Sherlock does look...thinner. Like Allessandro wasn't too concerned with feeding him up like John would.

Sherlock hadn't really thought about eating...is he? He shrugs again.
A burger doesn't sound that good but...
He can't afford to be picky.

The burger is mostly for Rosie but there are also sandwiches or wraps that Sherlock can have if he ants.

"Do try to eat something." he whispers; "I know you're not always comfortable flying."
