DARING RESCUE MEME You're in a predicament. That predicament is either: you need to be rescued. Bad. Even if you're technically safe you need to get out of whatever situation you're in. And if you're not safe, well... it's just more important then, isn't it? Your other option of course is that you need to rescue someone. You have to find them, get them out, get them to where they really belong. Or you're like, picking them up from a bad date. WHATEVER. No matter the severity of the situation, be careful how you go about it, huh? We wouldn't want to have any accidents. • Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. "You are definitely not stupid, love. So who is saying these things? You? Or are you repeating what they told you?"

"I don't know!" He frowns. "If I'd been smarter, I'd know that Alli... wanted more than I could give."

"Does a man who beats you, lets his men rape you and threaten a little girl deserve more from you?" She asks, sure she is getting somewhere; "More than John?"

He cries out when she does say that. "W-wouldn't be the first..."

She shakes her head; "I know you don't mean that. And your tea is getting cold."

He opens the door hoping she isn't leaning on it, getting his tea.
He looks tired and red-eyed.

"I don't know."

[captainwatson]

She gives the tea and caresses his cheek; "Sleep on it. You need to take care of yourself more than ever."

She gives him a quick kiss and goes to leave.

"Mrs. Hudson," he says quietly. "S-stay. I-I may experience nightmares, but you needn't be alarmed, I'd just..."
Rather not be alone.

"Oh I've lived with you long enough to know, dear. I'll be right here, doing some ironing." She smiles.

Sherlock's phone rings. John.

"Do you want to answer that, love?"

"John." Sherlock makes his voice sound steady and almost uninterested.
Why are you calling? You know I text...

[captainwatson]

"Oh wow, you answered." John sounds surprised and then talks to someone off the phone; "Yes, fine, you were right!" And then back to Sherlock; "Really sorry about this but Rosie refused to go to bed before saying goodnight to you. Hope that's ok?"

He almost sounds nervous, like he's afraid of overstepping his bounds. But Rosie has no such fear.

Sherlock nods stupidly, then realizes John can't see him. "Of course that's alright?" He doesn't understand...why does she want to say goodnight to him, he barely knows her...

[captainwatson]

"Thanks." He hands the phone over.

There's a shuffling noise and a little voice comes on.

"Sherlock! I showed Hamish to Bumble and now they're best friends." She says sweetly; "Just like you and Daddy!"

Sherlock blushes. "You're welcome."
Dammit. He doesn't want to cry again. Why would he cry?
"I - I hope they enjoy each other's company..."

[captainwatson]

"Will you play a song for me please? You can put phone on speaker." She requests.

John cuts in; "Ah, you don't need to do that!"

Sherlock tears up, but there's some rustling as he goes to fetch his violin.
He'll play the symphony he was composing.

John. For John. Obviously. They won't know though. That's the thing.

[captainwatson]

"Thank you, Papa Sherlock. Night night!" She yawns and wishes before laying down to the sound of the composition.

John waits until she's asleep and the piece is finished.

"Thanks. She's out like a light."

Sherlock takes a few breaths. "Mm. Goodnight John."
He waits for John to ring off first though.

He doesn't really know what he's waiting for...

"Goodnight, Sherlock...Hope you sleep well." He says softly; "Remember what I said, yeah? Anything you need."

Sherlock nods. "Alright..." But what if he doesn't know what he needs? What if he wants John to be here, but doesn't want him to be here at the same time.

[captainwatson]

"Okay...Goodnight. Love you." He hangs up and then realises what he said.

Shit.

Maybe Sherlock will think it was a reflex? Used to saying goodnght to Rosie.

Sherlock hangs up before it registers.
"You wouldn't if...you knew."
He says it softly. Hating it. He still loves John, but ... John shouldn't love him back...

Mrs. Hudson tuts as she watches; "Who else knows you better than John, hmm? Do you want to give him a second chance?"

"Mm. There's...things I would rather he didn't know, Mrs. Hudson..."

[captainwatson]

"You don't need to tell him until you're ready." she assures; "But he loves you. And that little girl absolutely adores you. Then again, she is her father's daughter."
