DARING RESCUE MEME You're in a predicament. That predicament is either: you need to be rescued. Bad. Even if you're technically safe you need to get out of whatever situation you're in. And if you're not safe, well... it's just more important then, isn't it? Your other option of course is that you need to rescue someone. You have to find them, get them out, get them to where they really belong. Or you're like, picking them up from a bad date. WHATEVER. No matter the severity of the situation, be careful how you go about it, huh? We wouldn't want to have any accidents. • Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Sherlock tears up, but there's some rustling as he goes to fetch his violin.
He'll play the symphony he was composing.

John. For John. Obviously. They won't know though. That's the thing.

"Thank you, Papa Sherlock. Night night!" She yawns and wishes before laying down to the sound of the composition.

John waits until she's asleep and the piece is finished.

"Thanks. She's out like a light."

Sherlock takes a few breaths. "Mm. Goodnight John."
He waits for John to ring off first though.

He doesn't really know what he's waiting for...

"Goodnight, Sherlock...Hope you sleep well." He says softly; "Remember what I said, yeah? Anything you need."

Sherlock nods. "Alright..." But what if he doesn't know what he needs? What if he wants John to be here, but doesn't want him to be here at the same time.

[captainwatson]

"Okay...Goodnight. Love you." He hangs up and then realises what he said.

Shit.

Maybe Sherlock will think it was a reflex? Used to saying goodnght to Rosie.

Sherlock hangs up before it registers.
"You wouldn't if...you knew."
He says it softly. Hating it. He still loves John, but ... John shouldn't love him back...

Mrs. Hudson tuts as she watches; "Who else knows you better than John, hmm? Do you want to give him a second chance?"

"Mm. There's...things I would rather he didn't know, Mrs. Hudson..."

[captainwatson]

"You don't need to tell him until you're ready." she assures; "But he loves you. And that little girl absolutely adores you. Then again, she is her father's daughter."

"If they knew better, they wouldn't..." He winces.

"I doubt that. She's seen her father at his very worst and forgive him. Children are too pure to judge." she says; "And John...he will always be your lovely doctor."

He nods, doubtfully. He doesn't really believe...

John will come round the next day, letting himself in the front door with his key and then knocking before entering Baker Street.

"Sherlock? You up?" It's gone nine, he's just dropped Rosie off at nursery.

Sherlock is curled up in his bed, mumbling and twitching. He left the door open, wanting to hear Mrs. Hudson.

He doesn't really say anything coherent, but if John comes nearer he will jump awake, alert, almost ready to fight.

John steps carefully to the door and can hear the tell tale sounds of a nightmare. He doesn't try to enter the room or wake Sherlock. He's not stupid.

Instead he goes to make some tea.

He rubs his eyes and shakes himself a bit.
Someone's making tea. It's probably better not to fight Mrs. Hudson...
He's surprised to find John.

He does hope John doesn't hear any of that.
He also feels a bit ..disoriented.

He looks up when he sees Sherlock and smiles.

"Hey. Sorry, I was trying not to wake you."

"No, no, it's fine."
He feels very awkward, watching John make tea.

[captainwatson]

"Just wanted to check how you are. I know it must be shit but...there's levels of shit, right." he tries to joke.

He hands Sherlock the tea.

"Uhm...I should have asked, do...Do you want my key back?" He says, nervous; "I mean, it's up to you if you want me to be able to come and go here and it's more than fair if you'd rather I didn't..." Ella did tell him as much. Let Sherlock set the boundaries.

"No, I... if you want to come and go s-it's fine."
John seems different. Oddly, it makes him feel less like... he's changed.

"I - I do have nightmares, John, my ... my initial reaction is likely to be either fear or to fight off imaginary attackers."

He tries the same explanation he gave Alli. Alli... at the time, he thought... had understood.

John nods; "Yeah, I'm the same...It's why I didn't try to wake you."

Rosie knows as well. Don't disturb Daddy, just wait for him to wake up.

"Uhm...how about physically? If he hurt you, do you...D'you want me to treat anything?"

"I suppose you can't find me any more disgusting," Sherlock turns around, mumbling taking his t-shirt off.
There's a wince he's hiding where John can't see. His shoulder will always hurt. "I'm not... I'm not taking off my trousers, you... you can just leave the cream or whatever you're going to use and I'll do it."

If he doesn't show John now, he never will.
Besides, best if John leaves now.

He exhales; "Sherlock, I never..."

John stops when he sees all the scars. Not just scars. Bruises. Brands. Scratches.

"Jesus..."

And there's more, apparently. Of course Sherlock won't show him.

He slowly steps forward, reaching out a hand to check; "May I?"

"Never knew. Course, cause I didn't want you to know. I thought I should be ashamed and hide it. And I still think you should run and be disgusted..."

He doesn't quite register John's question. He might flinch but he moves to try and allow John to touch.

"I suppose I should be tested as well, all things considered." That's if you even want something discarded...
