SNOWED IN

The Snowed In Meme
You were just having a normal day out when an angelical snow shower hits you... hard. And now you're trapped with someone else until it passes by. Are you at a cafe? A bookstore? School? In the middle of crime-fighting? Location, duration and snow intensity are all up to you!

She might need to look into some different vitamins. Either Qrow is abnormal, which he is anyway, in her opinion, or she is deficient in something.]
You're more likely to give him a hard time. Besides, it's my responsibility to look after myself.
[She punctuated that with an eye roll and she looks away to distract herself from how close he is. But as annoying as he is he is keeping her awake.]
no subject
Oh. Sir Jimmy's not so nice, huh? [ but here it comes... ] Does-- Does he-- [ he starts laughing, which is probably more annoying now that winter's up close to hear it. there's that smell of alcohol, too. it's something that's never gotten off him, even after a shower. probably because after showering, he's back to drinking. ] Does he rule with an Iron fist?
[ he is too funny. ]
no subject
Wait...did she just think that being close to him was making her less miserable? In hindsight, she spoke too soon. What is he cracking up at? And yes, she smells the alcohol, she would know the smell anywhere but she's learned to tolerate it as a child, so what's a few hours to her? She gives him the side eye and is about to ask what his inane cackling is about when he drops his punch line.
She just stares at him aghast for a moment, before resuming her usual glower.]
The cold has reached your bird brain. [The irony.] James Ironwood is not 'mean'. He expects a standard. But he respects his soldiers and it's mutual.
no subject
[ straightforward as always. he's actually pretty glad winter hasn't asked why the hell qrow has such a huge vendetta against the general, because that's not a story worth sharing to someone who's a rank lower than he is.
winter may be skilled, but she's not there yet. she's still got a few ways to go if he wants to get to qrow's level—or if she wants to make it professional—to ironwood's level. ]
no subject
[Well there it is. Ironwood may be stubborn. He seems to be pretty set in what he believes is right, but Winter would rather follow someone like that than follow someone who just docilely followed the lead of someone else. She can respect someone that trusts their own judgment.
If the General were that kind of man, she's not sure she would be where she was at all.]
no subject
but qrow's issues with ironwood aren't something winter has to know about. she's uninvolved. ]
Classified. [ a word that she's incredibly familiar with, for sure.
and just so she doesn't bring up ironwood again-- ]
Is this helping? [ this, being their position. ]
no subject
.....she had kind of been involved with that one. At least Glynda was on hand to repair the damage.
She winces at his words, rudely reminded by the heat starting to seep back into her body that she's having to rely on Qrow Branwen. Something he probably will not let her forget for a log time. Her eyes flick to the side.]
It's adequate.
[She mutters trying not to feel self-conscious.]
no subject
Just adequate?
[ without warning, he pulls her closer, bumping her shoulders against his. the close proximity doesn't bother him at all, though he is looking forward to how wild winter might react. ]
no subject
[Now that was not a reaction she saw coming. Suddenly he's much more into her personal bubble than she meant him to be. What is this fool doing?! Her hand comes up instinctively to push away from him, to scoot back into her previously carefully measured space.]
You buffoon! Are you still drunk?!
[Or maybe he's never actually drunk. Maybe he's just perpetually an idiot.]
no subject
Actually, I could use a drink. Being stuck here with ou's turning me crazy.
no subject
[The quiet room echoes with her shout as she whirls to face him. What an utterly infuriating man. Is this storm over yet? It has to be slowing down.]
no subject
[ he's not as eloquent as winter, sadly. he makes some distance between them now, though, and he leans against the wall. all he wanted was to be nice! that's a rare feat for him. ]
they are such kids
[Prissy? Her face is still red. Though perhaps this time in anger. What is this smug idiot on about? She's joined the military practically from the moment she was old enough. She's lead her own squads. She hasn't traveled as far as she'd like, but it's on her list.
She breathes. She should not be letting this booze-addled twit get under her skin. Though it's noticeably colder. She huffs.]
it's true
Humility's not something you have, either.
no subject
As though you'd be qualified to lecture me in humility.
[She turns her head.]
Perhaps I'll model my behavior after yours. I could even start sleeping in bars all day.
no subject
As if you could handle my lifestyle. [ this is serioously so funny. ] Watching you sleep on the floor was the funniest thing I've ever seen!
no subject
no subject
[ you know what, winter? maybe he'll throw you another bone here. ask, and maybe he'll answer honestly. ]
no subject
But it's really just damn cold for any of this.]
I know you disappear for weeks on end. [Classfied stuff as he said.] But you're not the first hunter to go off on your own. Even soldiers go on solo missions.
[ Translation: it's not that impressive, Qrow. Her grandfather used to trek all over Remnant on his own. Maybe if she ever got the urge to, she'll do something like that. Right now, she's happy with what she's got. She's actually quite at home in the military. It's not always a cake walk, but it's order and structure.]
no subject
[ he snorts at that, visibly showing he isn't impressed just the same. he's well aware that he's not the first hunter to undergo these types of missions, but damn, winter, if you knew what he's been up against, then you'd really be fucking impressed. ]
Having your robo-buddies following you everywhere still counts as being alone in Atlas, huh?
no subject
Part of being a soldier is following orders. Besides, we have to test our machines some kind of way. It doesn't work so well if you leave them in storage. And I think I held my own quite well without any assistance.
no subject
[ and it doesn't seem like she's letting go of that fight they had at beacon. must be because she knew she would win? was she that confident? he internally scoffs at the idea. there's a reason why the secrets of the maidens aren't made aware to her, and that's because she has 1) no business in it, and, and this is just his own reasoning, but 2) she probably can't handle it.
:)
he narrows his eyes, trying to get a better look at her. ]
You held your own against my sword. That's all you did. [ she hasn't even seen him with his scythe just yet! he's already obnoxious, but he takes pride in being one of the best scythe-wielders in all of remnant. he made his own weapon and is damn good at working all its functions, especially when it's turned as a scythe. it's big, and has a long range, and is ultimately something he uses for the tougher fights.
he had almost used it on her once. almost. so she's right up there, and is pretty good in combat, but honestly? he doesn't think she'd be able to win against her once he uses the style of combat he's more accustomed to. ]
can anyone spot the egos in the room?
[There's a definite note of annoyance in her tone now. She's proud of how far she's come. And she can't do her job efficiently if she lets others goad her into being reckless but it's like he knows what buttons to push. Frankly, she believes that if he wants to underestimate her that would be to his own detriment. He's not the first person. And she's got no small amount of her own pride in her own abilities. She was ecstatic the day she realized that she had inherited the ability to summon. It was something innate. It was hers in the truest sense that something could be hers and no one was going to take it away. She supposes everyone feels that way about their own semblance to some degree. But hers has a history.]
And I'll hold my own against anything you've got.
nothing to see here tbh!
Okay, okay-- then when then storm's gone.
[ he wheezes rather loudly. ]
Which is hopefully soon, because I want to see your face covered in snow while you beg me not to tell anybody you lost.
no subject
Very well. I suppose I'll allow you to come up with an interesting cover story for why you have even more holes in your clothing than ever before. It was already in a pretty deplorable state, I'm sure it can't get much worse.
[Her grin widens a bit.] Though I don't plan to lose.
