[Not surprisingly, Garrus had been incredibly hard to track down. They had broken contact long enough ago that any lead she might have had was cold. She had to start from nothing, sort through innumerable dead ends, and felt like her search took two steps backward for every time she even thought she was moving closer.

She had to find him, though. To make things right. Or apologize. Or something. She wasn't even sure what she would say if she did find him. She figured she'd sort that out when (if) it comes to that.

She got one last lead, bringing her to a small planet on the edge of a system. She stopped in a shady bar in a questionable town for a little bit of liquid courage. Funny how emotions could be scarier than protecting the galaxy sometimes.]

[So. It's not like they haven't kissed before. That's probably how this (doomed, Derek thought privately) relationship started, with Stiles kissing Derek until he agreed to date him.

That's how Derek thinks of it, at any rate. Different accounts may disagree.

And since then, there have been many many enthusiastic kisses of various degrees of...Derek doesn't know how to put it, Going Places. He's always stopped it before it goes too far, though, for a myriad of reasons. Stiles is young, Derek is older, Stiles needs to be sure, Derek needs to get over the fear that he's pushing Stiles where he doesn't want to go, Derek needs to make sure he's not going to hurt Stiles...

But tonight is going to be special, for the both of them. Yeah, Stiles is probably expecting Derek to shove him against the door and tear his clothes off, and it's not like that hasn't occurred or anything, but. Aforementioned issues aside, Derek doesn't really want Stiles' first time to be like...

well, like his. Stiles has the distinct upshot of having a partner who actually cares about him, so that's good.

And actually waiting in Stiles' bedroom is probably a poor choice, but the idea of a motel makes Derek uneasy and his house isn't exactly the most hospitable.]

This is it: date number three. Real date number three. Clark isn't sure if the first one counts because he turned around at a deli and spilled coffee on the woman behind him - which turned out to be Wanda, and bought her breakfast in apology, along with the drycleaning bill for her shirt. She'd smiled during that impromptu breakfast, a smile that hit him like a ton of bricks and he'd successfully talked her into a lunch date. So that's the one he counts as a solid first date. The second was a lunch date as well, mostly due to his schedule being pretty full during the Olympics, but now that's over and she's agreed to a third (!) date. At night. In a real restaurant.

He's a little early, getting to the place about ten minutes beforehand to make sure the reservation didn't get mucked up, and that his blue button-up shirt, black blazer and matching slacks are suitable for dress code. Thankfully, they are. He's armed on this date as well, a box with two chocolate truffles and a bouquet of orange tulips, as opposed to the two previous ones; daffodils on the first date, and a calla lily on the second. And he's trying not to worry if the gifts are too much, although she did appear to like the other flowers. Just ... one breath at a time. Right? Right.
