Sometimes all you need is a word to spark off an idea.

He tries.

"But I like to know my incentives." He reaches to stroke his fingers under Matt's chin, bringing him to lean close, like he's going to kiss him again, but hovers there instead.

"All you need to know is that I'm a man of my word, and if I say I'll do whatever you want me to do, I'll do it."

He raises his eyebrows but his smile grows, because knowing Danny, he'll end up eating some weird food.

He does like dragging Matt to weird places to try out cuisine he's never had before...

"If I win, you have to come to the dojo with me tomorrow."

"I think I can manage that." He does give Danny a moderately suspicious look. "Why?"

"You're not allowed to ask why, you just have accept the conditions of your defeat." Danny's grinning wide, it's not difficult to tell from the tone in his voice.

"Uh huh. Guess that means I can't let you win."

Matt doesn't give Danny a chance to set the race up. He's already moving back the way they came, and, well. Maybe if gets there first he can have Danny's evening receptionist call him a car. They never said how they had to get back home.

"Cheat!" Danny calls after him before the sound of his own feet hitting the roof, the metal of the fire escape rattling as he chooses to take higher ground in pursuit.

Can you hear that, Danny? It's Matt laughing as he vaults over a ledge below you. This time they're neck and neck almost the whole way, and Matt just scoops up his jacket and tie before opening the door that takes him from the roof and into the building. Sorry, he's going to be closing the door on his boyfriend in the hopes of having an extra lead.

He has to stop anyway to put his shoes back on, though rather than taking the stairs down he moves to leap off the building. There's a few ledges that had been added for this exact reason (or rather, just in case Iron Fist needed to leave the office with out being seen.)

He can at least get to the next rooftop in the direction of home, deciding to run rather than wait for a car. Danny's young, he has the stamina for it.

Matt's starting to think he's made a mistake, but he's committed now. Fortunately they can pull a car around for him quickly, and by the time he's down the elevator, someone's there to take him to it. He just needs to hope there's not much traffic.

As the car drives towards home, Matt wonders where Danny is. There's no hope of picking up his trail from where he is, and Matt is just polite enough to say thank you to the driver before running up the steps to the door.

No, there isn't much traffic this time of night, and the driver knows all the short-cuts back to Rand's residence since he's his usual driver. Though he does try to make casual conversation at the stop lights, since all of Danny's employees are curious about the 'relationship' the blind lawyer has with their CEO. There's probably a betting pool and everything.

And Danny probably would have made it home first on foot, except there was a mugging on 9th that he couldn't ignore, and so when he finally comes in through the window he's a little out off breath.

"Aw man...."

Matt's smirking, but he still moves over to Danny to check that he's fine anyway. He can tell right away that something happened, though nothing too serious based on the timing.

"Does it really count as winning if my opponent takes himself out of the race?" he asks, pressing a kiss to Danny's cheek. "Is everything all right?"

Danny's of course, untouched, but he rarely is when it comes to small scuffles like that. The poor guy never stood a chance and the only thing that really slowed him down was making sure the victim was safe.

Even then he was only a handful of minutes behind Matt.

But he still smells like gunpowder and adrenaline, which might have been what gave him away.

"I was totally still in the race."

"Uh huh."

Not that Matt can blame Danny. Matt would have done exactly the same thing.

"I guess that means I have to decide what my prize is."

"I'm pretty sure your prize is escaping your fate of losing." Danny teases, reaching up to cradle Matt's face and press a sweet kiss to his cheekbone.

"I was going to make you take care of all my dry cleaning or something, but now I don't want to." He gives Danny's chin a fond tweak. "I want the last piece of pie that's in the fridge."

"Matty no, that pie is special!" He sounds devastated, if teasingly so. Honestly he'd give the last piece of pie on earth to Matt if he asked for it. No matter how delicious.

"Yeah, special because I won it fair and square. Never make a deal with the Devil."

In fact, maybe Matt will eat the pie now. He's earned it.

"I curse you with indigestion." He gives Matt's ass a smack as that little backstabber heads towards the kitchen.

Matt lets out a derisive snort. He puts the pie on the counter and takes a bite, letting the fork linger between his lips in what he hopes is an alluring way.

"Then I guess I won't offer you a bite."

Stupid Matt and his stupid pretty mouth and how Danny can't even be mad when he's standing there eating his last piece of probably the greatest pie ever (since the last pie they had in the fridge)

"Why do I love you again?" He can mock pout at the very least, fingers loosening his tie as he kicks off his shoes again.

"I have no idea."

Matt motions for Danny to come over, and he holds up a fork of pie for Danny. Because Matt's too nice not to share, at least that little bit.

Defeated, Danny slinks over, reaching to curl his fingers around Matt's wrist to steady his hand so he can take the offered bite.

Okay well some pie was better than no pie, so he could at least forgive him a little bit.

But still.

"I can feel you pouting," Matt teases. He leans over to give Danny a cherry flavoured kiss. "Why did you want me to go to the dojo tomorrow?"

"M'not pouting." he says while chewing, swallowing down the bite just before Matt leans in and he accepts the sweet kiss with a little hum. Okay... that kind of makes it all better.

"Oh... just, Misty and Colleen are busy on a job, and Bob's out sick so I have to wrangle all the kids on my own." Not that he couldn't do it, they're good kids it's just always nice to have an extra pair of hands on the weekend when there are several classes.
