Secret dating et al
![]() SECRET dating; The fact that you're in a relationship with this person isn't public knowledge. Actually, no one knows about it except for the people involved. Maybe you guys are just private like that; on the other hand, it may be a necessity to keep things a secret from others. Maybe you're both team mates, and others on the team would give you grief, or you're not suppose to be dating, or you're not the type to usually date and you're only testing the waters. Perhaps it's the combination of you two, possibly an odd couple, that would bring some controversy or some teasing. Or, you know, you could not want to deal with friends and relatives being busybodies. Your reasons are your own. Are you content with stealing moments to be together as a couple? Do you want to make your relationship known and the fact that you can't drives you batty? Remember, there are lots of benefits to dating in secret. You can be yourselves completely, away from prying eyes, and get to know each other better as potential longterm romantic partners. In a way, it's ideal. ...still, do you ever wish you could scream from the rooftops how much you care for your significant other? how to play.

But Squall's next words stopped that train of thought. Squall was happy, despite the feelings that popped up of not being worthy of it? He closed his eyes and wiped the excess water away with one of his hands before he looked back up again. "So are you... okay with being here?" He knew Squall had earlier, but that was before these feelings came up.

Perhaps lightening the mood would be healthier for both of them. He inwardly laughs to himself. Maybe he did learn something from Rinoa after all.
He let go of Zell to return to leaning on the balcony to enjoy the music.
"They're really good live. I didn't expect the to be so good. We should do things like this more often."
no subject
The issue would probably still be there for a while, but Zell would keep trying to reassure him every time until it got better. He'd also show Squall that it was okay to enjoy moments like this and not worry over if it was deserved or not.
He leaned on the edge of the balcony next to Squall, looking over the stage again as the second song ended. "Yeah, sure, whenever you want!"

The lights got brighter and and he looked to Zell. "You're staying in my room tonight, I hope you know that." He commented, giving Zell a somewhat teasing smile.

When the concert ended, Zell felt like it was way too soon. Still, he cheered with the audience below them and in accompaniment to Squall's clapping. It was hard to believe so much time had passed; he was left excited and energized from listening to the band live with Squall beside him. The fact that Squall enjoyed himself made it even better!
The date didn't have to end here, if Squall didn't want it to. When the cheering and clapping eventually died down, Zell turned to Squall to ask him about the other thing he'd planned, but Squall spoke first. The grin that broke out over Zell's expression said that he clearly understood the promise underneath the words. He grabbed Squall again, happiness bubbling over, and gave him a firm and excited kiss.
It only lasted a moment though, before Zell asked what he wanted to before. "Alright! Did you want to head back now, or are you hungry? There's still quite a few restaurants open." It was Deling City, after all. While Zell was definitely looking forward to spending the night in Squall's room, he also wanted to make the most out of their date.

"Dinner. Are you in the mood for something fast or sit in at a restaurant? I'm not picky about where we go." He said as he went to put his jacket on.
Squall wasn't a picky eater, he would usually find something on the menu that caught his eye anywhere he went. There were a few things he disliked but for the most part he wasn't picky. He'd let Zell take them wherever he wanted to go. After all it was just as much Zell's night as it was Squall's.

"As long as it's quiet, as much as I liked the concert I could use some quiet." The concert had been loud and the crowds had screamed loudly. He was still ever grateful to not be down in the throngs of people but he wasn't accustomed to loud concerts just yet. As an introvert, Squall was ready to wind down.

Zell waited until Squall had his jacket and hat situated before opening the door and leaving the concert hall. When he got to the bottom of the stairs, he put on his jacket and stepped out into the night. It wasn't too bad, a little colder than when they'd first arrived, but not bad with the warmer jacket. Once he got to eating he knew he wouldn't really pay attention to it. The crowd leaving the concert was a little more thinned out than when they'd arrived too. Everyone headed in their own direction, at least half were heading in the opposite direction than where they had to go.
Zell glanced at Squall, debating for all of a second before he reached out to hold his hand again. If Squall made any type of questioning response, he could always say it was easier to lead him to their destination this way... even though the crowd wasn't as large as it had been before. He still thought of a relationship as a private thing, but no one knew who they were and probably wouldn't look twice at them anyway, even if they did notice them with all the other people around. But he couldn't help but want to continue to touch Squall in some way.
The walk to the restaurant didn't take long. It was maybe about a mile walk, but Zell was content to just hold Squall's hand and walk there rather than take any tram. They were max level SeeDs who used to walk around a lot as well as keep up with other exercises, so it didn't really bother them. Zell was enjoying his alone time with Squall and most of their short trip was spent in a comfortable silence, keeping up with Squall's wishes for some quiet.
Though it wasn't all that quiet out on the street, people still walking around from this place to that. But they arrived at the restaurant Zell mentioned (a casual sit down restaurant with a variety of different foods) soon enough. The hostess gave Zell an odd look when he asked to be seated outside, but he carefully forced his expression not to smile at her, instead just kept a steady stare and stated that he was sure. There was another moment when Squall couldn't get the quiet he wanted when they were led through the half full restaurant. Everyone's chatter mingled together to make it a little louder than it would have been in normal conversation.
But through the doors near the back, they were met with a pretty nice view nighttime view, and thankfully no other diners. Even the noise from the street and inside the restaurant was a dull hum. Once they were seated and the hostess left, Zell let out his bright grin, glad that it was as he thought and hoped it would be. "So, what do you think?" His tone said just how enthusiastic he still was.

Once they were seated away from the noise of the restaurant Squall let out a small sigh. The fresh cool air was nice on his skin and he reached a hand up to scratch at his hair under the hat a bit awkwardly.
"I'll be honest, I'm excited to get back to Garden soon." He said, voice small. It had been such a busy day for them and he was getting a bit exhausted and his energy was draining. Squall liked to decompress at the end of the day and his energy was about spent. He didn't know how Zell was able to keep up so well.
Just then, his stomach let out a small audible rumble in protest. "But dinner first. This place is nice." He said, coloring a bit.

Before he could say anything in reply to them also, Squall's stomach made a small noise. He wouldn't laugh! But he did look away for a second while he controlled it. When he looked back, Squall had a cute little blush to his cheeks and Zell's smile became a little more loving.
He really liked all these expression he got to see on Squall. "Yeah, it is. Nice and quiet too, just like you wanted!" He replied, before speaking a little more quietly. "I'm excited to get back to Garden too. In your room, right?" His foot moved slightly against the bottom of Squall's leg, unable to really touch him over the table.
no subject
His gazed wandered from the menu's main entrees back up to Zell and he watched him for a moment through his dark brown bangs. Feeling Zell's foot slide against his leg under the table did send a little jolt of excitement through him ever so slightly. Yes that would be an excellent way to de-stress after a long day...
"Yes, my room. As soon as we get back." He said with a slight huff. He looked down at the menu and scanned the pasta, with a smile on his lips. He didn't return the footsie because it made him feel a little childishly embarrassed but he wouldn't be angry if Zell kept doing it.
no subject
But that moment had passed. Now Zell kept staring at the expressions Squall made; that look partially hidden by his bangs, then the smile after his reply. 'As soon as we get back' repeated itself in Zell's head. While it would be kind of late by the time they got back to Garden, Zell liked to think that the statement was made out of eagerness rather than consideration for the time.
"Yeah, soon as we get back." Zell repeated out loud, agreeing with Squall's statement. A few thoughts filtered through his mind over what they could do when they got back, accompanied by images seconds after. Squall hadn't said anything about Zell touching him how he could under the table and so he'd kept the motions with his foot, moving it almost idly as he got lost in the ideas his mind procured.
But it completely distracted Zell from looking over his own menu and he was startled out of the fantasies when he'd heard a voice. Blushing a little once he noticed it was their waiter coming to see if they were ready to have their order taken, he hastily looked down at the menu. Squall could go first, if he was ready.
no subject
As Zell repeated him he felt excitement flip in his belly again. And as Zell continued his touch under the table Squall nearly returned the affection with his own foot sliding against Zell's ankle-- until the waiter came near.
She made a flirty comment, are you two lovebirds ready to order? And Squall stopped his foot. His faced warmed but he gave her an icy glare.
"The gnocchi with meat sauce." He said with a hint of annoyance and don't say another comment like that again in his tone.
Getting caught flirting ...was the worst.
no subject
"The, ah... w-whatever the special is." Without looking up he slid the menu closer to their waiter and hunched over a little more, trying to hide his blush from her. She must suspect every thought he had. The menu was taken and she may have left in a hurry but Zell didn't look up until a moment after, looking to make sure she was gone.
He gave a sigh and relaxed his posture a little bit. Even after all that, Zell still wanted to continue to touch Squall... but he was convinced she saw everything, suspected every thought! He fidgeted in his seat a little, took a drink of his water, and glanced back at the door that led to the restaurant.
... Okay, so maybe she didn't see much. It was dark out and their angle with the door and the outdoor lights put a lot of shadows under the table. Maybe... maybe she had only seen the look he was giving Squall. That was still quite a lot, though, he knew he couldn't help his open expressions from saying what he was thinking.
It must have been uncomfortable for Squall. He quickly looked back to him. "Sorry... ah, that was my fault."
no subject
It was obvious that they were closer than ever now, and things like this would happen from time to time. Although it embarrassed Squall for people to see simple exchanges between them, it was bound to happen sooner or later. It makes him think about the future and how eventually all this would have to come out into the open. At least that's what he thought Zell would want with the talk about families and all that earlier in the night.
"Eventually, people are going to find out about us. As much as I'd like to keep everything secret forever, that's not what you actually want, is it? Do you really like hiding behind hats and fake names?"
It was the biggest insecurity he had about the two of them. What did Zell really want?
no subject
He'd thought about it before... a couple times, actually. He always told Squall he didn't have a problem with it, but apparently Squall needed more than that. He took a long moment to think about what the right words could be rather than just blurting out whatever came to mind. He wanted to make sure Squall knew his exact thoughts on the matter.
He shook his head slightly. "No, I don't want it to stay a secret forever... but like I said, I wanna keep it private! There's a difference... I... I don't want people thinkin' I'm still single, especially people that might wanna try hookin' me up with someone. But... like with that!" His hand waved to indicate what just happened. "It was kinda embarrassing, right?!" He sighed again, not sure if he was actually able to find the right words or not. "I dunno, maybe there'll be some time in the future where I wanna be more open about what we do but it ain't right now."
He looked at Squall, seeing if he understood. He hoped he did, he didn't know how else to say what he felt.
no subject
"I'd have to kill them. If people tried....hooking you up...with someone else. Then people would really know what was going on, I suppose."
Was that Squall Leonhart making a joke? Yes it was.He doesn't try to hide the protective tone in his voice. It was just weird to hear Zell explain it like that.
But it did make him feel better.
"Embarrassing yes. But what exactly were you thinking about that made you blush so much anyway...?" He teased.
no subject
At least it helped relax Zell further and when Squall asked his next question, Zell was able to not blush again. Instead he continued to smile at Squall, though it took on a different quality. He tried to hide it as much as possible in case their waiter came back, though. He glanced at the doors just to make sure she wouldn't before he looked back at Squall to answer. "I was thinkin' of what we could do when we got back." While the sentence itself was innocent, Zell had that somewhat quieter tone to his voice again.
no subject
He arched an eyebrow at Zell. "And what's that...?" He knew what Zell meant, but it was a little amusing to try to get Zell to say it out loud.
And the waiter wasn't anywhere close by right now.
no subject
"Then some images came to my mind... like the last time we were alone together," he admitted, spurred on my the images that almost invaded his thoughts again.
no subject
"Alone together doing what..." He encouraged as he shifted slightly in his seat. He was forgetting about everything else around them just for a moment.
no subject
Then Zell failed at keeping himself from being completely in the moment. His smile faded a little as his light yearning for Squall appeared in his eyes. "Not just that time, but every time. Hyne, Squall, I love being with you. Love seein' those open expressions... I love that I can make you come undone." He knew he was being very vulnerable right now, but he didn't care since it was only in front of Squall. For Squall. And he trusted Squall not abuse it. "When you touch me it's like nothing I ever thought possible. And you taste so good. And when you're inside me I feel complete..."
At that last admission, he glanced away. Just for something to look at after the completely open admission that seemed even deeper than the 'I love you's, he looked at the door again, pleased to see that Squall had been the only witness his honesty. Maybe it was something Squall did, but it didn't seem like she'd be back until their food was ready, and there'd still be time before it was.
He didn't mean to get so carried away, but he couldn't look away from Squall for long before his gaze returned, still desperate to see every expression that came across his face. Looking for the reaction to his words.
no subject
He smiled gently, his expression soft. He felt his heart skip and that feeling of affection and love roll over in his stomach again. "I love being with you too Zell. It makes me calm and... being inside you..."
He wasn't as wordy as Zell, but the heated blush across his expression would hopefully highlight how he felt. "It's amazing. I only want you. All the time."
no subject
"I only want you too." His hand tightened slightly around Squall's, his eyes shining with love and adoration. While he meant to keep with the light flirts they'd been doing, he couldn't complain about the direction they took. It was better not to get worked up in public anyway. They could probably continue their flirting later, on the train.
After a moment, he reluctantly let go of Squall's hand, leaning back again so he wouldn't be caught in another embarrassing situation. Though safe in the shadows, his foot kept moving, keeping the closeness despite their distance. "So you really liked the concert? Sorry I didn't pick up any merchandise for us to remember it by." He frowned a little, but it didn't reach the happiness still in his eyes. Even without any of the merchandise, Zell felt he'd always remember it. It was his first official date with Squall.
