when are we getting out of time out, mom?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
seriously, this blows

we learned our lesson

I've submitted like two memes in the last three days and neither of them have come through.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It really screws things up for submitting them since people don't know what memes are in the queue. There could be duplicates and it takes forever.

Actually PMing the people with duplicates or memes of the same type. It's so that memes of the same type/genre are more filtered out.

Time out, really? Haha.

But no, for the record moderated posting ends on the 26th. It's just something the comms trying out.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
moderated posting isn't the problem. slow mods are the problem. you guys need to figure out a more efficient way of handling the post queue. i only say this because you said in your last mod post that the extra work wouldn't be a problem for you and it obviously is now. please consider bringing on people from different time zones to deal with this. thank you.

Please get someone else to help. The way you're doing it now isn't working, and there's plenty of people willing to volunteer from what I've seen.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, but moderated posting is needless, really.

just delete the offending memes if they ever do pop up.

Not really fair for the people that have started playing in the meme who suddenly have a thread just gone.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
still butthurt about hullo_sweetie's disaster of a meme I see

maybe you shouldn't post in shitty PA reposts, then, and this won't be a problem

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually didn't post in it at all. Just making a mention of a fact that if a meme's posted and then suddenly deleted, anyone who HAS posted in it is now SOL. I don't really know what would be considered a 'double' to warrant being deleted (unless it's the same effing meme), so if the wording or theme for one grabs my attention and I play in it and then 'voom', deleted - that would suck.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Not everyone who'd have a problem with it posted in that meme.

Kind of a shitty way to just lump everyone in with that disaster.

Protip: Not everyone who plays in memes reads anoncomms or follows the bullshit that some people drag with them.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I actually kinda like the delay. Yes, it's annoying waiting for the meme you submitted to post, but the slower rate of posts per day means that any individual meme will stay on the first page longer and thus get more exposure, and that people commenting won't be as likely to miss out if they didn't happen to be around when the meme first went live.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
imo people still have shit attention spans

and therefore you're as fucked as you were before the whole delay. people still aren't going to go back and see who commented

but that's just my two cents

It's really nice not to have a giant flood of memes every day.

just get more mods

other than that I'm cool with this pace

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to echo a few anons above in saying how moderated posting isn't a problem. Having more mods in different timezones to help with the queue would make the pace a lot better and we'd still have all the benefits that moderated posting can provide in a place that has obviously needed it for a time now.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Moderated posting would be okay if there was actually moderation going on-- we're still getting duplicates, like that affection meme, and images that stretch my screen, so I don't really see what the point is of it other than spacing memes out.

ayrt

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Again, I think if we got more mods - ones in more than one time zone and actually looked at the posts before approving them - and gave the moderated posting trial a bit of a longer run it would help.

I know a lot of people are annoyed by the slowness or don't get the point of moderating a meme community but after seeing what it's been like unmoderated ever since the move to DW, I really don't think there's any harm in trying something different to see if it helps make the community more enjoyable for ALL the people that post here, not just the ones that want a new meme every hour.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm personally against the moderated posting. It screws with people's timing. Like posting a meme right after TFLN? People aren't going to post on that.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I've never posted on TFLN, and I don't ever intend to, so other options are always fine for me.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
To answer some of the above anons, part of 'moderated memes' is likely also to slow down the rush. There being a handful put up a day is part of the problem. So... limiting it to a few and having them possibly actually be played could be a good thing.

Stop complaining about something that's only JUST started being implemented. There hasn't nearly been enough time for an appropriate test run, and not being inundated with memes every day is a good thing.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Like others, I don't really see the point to moderated posting, all things considered. It would be better if there were more mods, yes, but, really? This is a meme, not a big game. I'd just do away with moderated posting, and deal with the occasional troubled meme as it comes. Moderated posting may help with things like flood control and duplicates (...occasionally), but as I see it, it's really more aggravating than it is actually helpful.

Granted, I have never minded having a handful of memes being posted each day, because I like having a few to choose from and find something to my personal taste.

I look forward to when the trial period expires tbh.

This is just my personal opinion and two-in-a-half cents.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-24 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
basically everything in this post.

I love having a bunch of memes to choose from. Like, for instance I don't RP smut because I'm a little underaged and it makes me uncomfortable -- so if only a sexy meme is posted, I won't have a meme to tag into. I'm sure it's like that for other people too -- everyone likes different things, and everyone had certain types of memes they avoid, I think. I like having the whole big load of posts so I'm almost guaranteed one I can comfortably tag into, without having to wait a day or two for fun RP times.

Personally, I don't really think the comm needed any help! I know we had a run in with a bad entry, but in the whole life of bakerstreet, that's one of the only mess-ups I've heard of. Which is impressive. I think things were cool and fun and chill just how they were.

exactly. i LIKE having all those memes to choose from. i'm a tad underaged as well so i don't want to play on smut memes. i see absolutely no problem with having a lot of memes posted daily. why do we want to slow the community down?
