Let's hope you're not squeamish. Even if you are, you're going to have to power through it, because your crush, significant other, lover, or fellow practitioner in romantic tension has been battered and bruised. The degree of severity, from a minor scrape to a life-threatening injury, can vary, as can the reason - they may even be hurt because of you. If that's the case, you have all the more reason to tend to their wounds with your own two hands.

No one can take care of them like you can.

Bust out the bandages, even if they don't want you to worry over them or can't believe that anyone would. Though it's not your intention, if you're genre savvy, you may know that your best Florence Nightingale may be the final push if you're not together-together.

That's assuming if you both don't pass out from botched first aide before any of that happens. Don't forget that a kiss to make it better is critical!

He started digging through it, pulling out what he would need to patch the man up. Dean had started getting adamant about Castiel not using his powers to heal him. It was better for him he said.

Scott is not, and has never been, untouchable in Lark's mind. Dangerous? Yes. It's part of why he likes him. But wolves can be killed by the squeeze of a trigger, and Scott's heart pumps blood. Lark knows. He smells it, hears it, every time they're together.

James has not survived so many years at sea by being cavalier about his injuries. He’s seen his share of hardened sailors felled by seemingly innocuous wounds – the bite of a ship’s cat, splinters from aged rope fiber – and he’s too pragmatic to ignore their lessons. He generally knows better than to resist care for the sake of appearing an unshakeable captain; and most times he won’t allow stubborn pride to delay the necessary ministrations.

Most times, naturally, are not all times.

It’s been two days since he dispatched a would-be assassin, two days since he fought for his life – gracelessly, viciously – and came through only by the skin of his teeth. And he’s spent every minute since convincing his crew, and to some extent himself, of just how not close a contest it was.

By the time he gets to Claire’s cottage, James is exhausted, his strength as frayed as his poorly-tied bandages. He’s not five steps inside her door before he falters, tangling his legs like a newborn colt. If she’s somewhere nearby, he’s not aware of it, and calling her name seems an insurmountable task.

He slumps forward against a table, noticing as a detached observer would that his waistcoat is soaked through with fresh blood. It becomes strangely important that he describe the color, the dark grey of the linen made rich with red; and he laughs a little, breathless and swaying, as he finds the words he wants.

“Porphyra. Tyrian purple.”

Because that would require giving a shit about what's going on in Hell or even Heaven. That dreadful place.

The only thing that could make this worse is if that child blew through her and tried to make him play with her. She was smart. Unfortunately she was also half the offspring of Detective Douche. Which--didn't really work for him. Plus children in general are not creatures he wants to spend any time with. ]

Gentle. A little bedside manner could go a very long way.

[Her voice is calm, serene even. As if there aren't still explosions shaking the building, isn't the not so distant sound of blaster fire. As if their world here isn't ending.

Bultar isn't a medic. Her skill set doesn't follow the healing path of the Force. But her special training does make her very familiar with bones and joints and the ones in his knee are not at all where they should be. The building shakes again, bits of ceiling rain down and the only acknowledgement Bultar gives it is to shift her body over his a bit more, as if her smaller form can shelter him if anything larger than ceiling tiles fall. Her hands don't leave where they're hovering over his knee. Using the Force to carefully shift bone back to where it should be, relieving pressure on the squeezed joint. The only hint that she'd having to fight hard to do it is in the way her dark eyes are narrowed down. And she adds:]

My ship is gone [with only the smallest thread of tension in her calm voice.]
