There were some definite superficial traits in common with Lyn here. Like her name a little bit, but also being a tall, strong, beautiful woman with long straight hair, and... well, maybe a bigger chest as if Florina was looking or anything.

She raised her eyes a little, smiling shyly at her date, wondering just how well a blind date could even go. "I... I do wonder." Florina was a mercenary, so somewhere along the line they were both fighters. "Um, it's... nice to meet you."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well." The lavender haired woman's nerves were obviously running at full speed right now, and though putting people at ease wasn't exactly Caitlyn's specialty, she hoped that by simply remaining as calm as possible herself and not drawing attention to Florina's nervousness, that she'd become more comfortable.

"Have you ever eaten here before? I'd never heard of the restaurant until I was told where to meet you."

Twisting her hands around, fidgeting nervously, she took a slow, deep breath, focusing on not doing just that, resting her hands in her lap. She shifted in her seat, glad that Caitlyn, at least, seemed to be handling this well. It did set her at ease, a little bit, and she was grateful for it.

"N-no, it's out of my usual... range." Price range, she meant, but mostly because she was saving; her bank account was more than full enough for a splurge. "But it seems very nice."

"That it does." The environment was nice, a small bistro with an outdoor patio. Not that they were outside, at the moment, but the seating was evenly split between the two, and a chalkboard outside advertised the daily special and soup of the day. Both items were also a bit more than Caitlyn tended to spend, though as part of the efforts to get her to come, she was eating on the dime of a pair of her friends.

"So, Florina-what do you do, exactly? I wasn't told anything about you besides the fact that you're nothing like the last girl I dated."

"Oh, I..." hadn't thought about the fact that she'd have to talk about it, somehow. Tiny, unassuming, cute little Florina, who killed people for a living. Mercenary work was looked down on by enough people to begin with, and now she had to open up a date with it and now everything was going to be ruined forever.

More fidgeting, her gaze and expression drooping. "M-m-mercenary," she stuttered weakly. And that's a great endorsement there, Caitlyn's friends. "I'm a mercenary."

"A mercenary? Fascinating." Caitlyn wasn't sure how she felt about that revelation over all, but her calling it fascinating, at least, was true enough. Considering this was a blind first date, there would hardly be any reason to lie about what she thought.

Before she could continue, the waiter approached to request drink orders, the Sheriff only ordering a glass of water for herself.

That was a pretty noncommittal reaction. Honest, but it didn't tell Florina if Caitlyn thought it made her the scum of the Earth either. Florina already had water to sip on, but she felt like she might need a little assistance, and this restaurant, while nice, also didn't seem too classy for beer... so that was that.

"I... thanks. What about you?" she asked, trying to steer the conversation into actually being one.

"I'm the Sheriff of Piltover." The city was near enough to this one that Caitlyn felt relatively confident that Florina would have heard of it, especially considering the fame of the technological advancements surrounding the city. In fact, it was even possible-though not probable-that Florina had heard of her, considering she was occasionally requested to aid in investigations outside of her own city.

Mercenaries didn't always have the best time trying to get along with law enforcement. Hearing that this was that Caitlyn as well, the one from that highly advanced city who had a reputation for... well... a lot of things impressive, made her shrink back in her seat even more. Her friends were all jerks and she was pretty sure her own dear sister had a hand in setting this up too.

"Oh," was all she could say at first. "Th-that... it's very impressive, um, Caitlyn. You're... very impressive."

"I'm sure I'm not the only impressive one between us. Why don't you tell me of some of your exploits?" That might have been going too far, but hopefully, despite the obvious nerves about sharing her job at all, speaking about her work would improve Florina's confidence. As much as she appreciated the reaction, the last thing that Caitlyn wanted was for Florina to become too intimidated to actually talk to her.

"I'm not... I mean..." Another breath. Her beer arrived, and Florina leaned down to sip off some of the head, focusing on that instead of talking for a moment, happy for the excuse to get her thoughts together. Her date was asking about her, so that was a good sign.

"W-well I'm part of a larger mercenary company so... n-nothing I do is more impressive than the group. Although I do... um, fight mages... better than most," she said, finally getting out a few whole sentences about herself. "I ride, a, uh, Pegasus - a winged... horse, if you've never seen one."

Caitlyn had never seen a pegasus, as a matter of fact, though she knew what they were. "Flying must feel amazing. Something I've never experienced, I'm afraid. And while I don't know the makeup of your company, I expect that taking out magic-users is an important role." Magic tended to make everything more difficult, as far as Caitlyn was concerned-but then she much preferred technology, of course.

Florina nodded, getting back a smidgen of confidence now that Caitlyn was showing interest, and a lack of distaste for her chosen profession. "They're beautiful creatures and... flying is amazing. Strong, but gentle... too. Sometimes it feels like a shame using them to fight, but their flight and... magical resilience are important."

She didn't want to talk shop too much, but she hardly had time for hobbies that didn't relate to it. "Mine is named Huey. Flying with him is... freeing."

"I should expect so. It sounds like they're amazing creatures." Caitlyn had met plenty of oddities in her career as a sheriff, but those that could fly were rare, something that Florina was fortunate to have. Sipping her own water, she considered what to say next.

"Besides work, how do you spend your time? What do you do for fun?" Just asking questions-and letting Florina field them back, if she liked-was probably the best approach.

They were native to Florina's homeland; a bit further away than Piltover, that was sure. Anyone from the far north might be a little more acquainted with Pegasi. "I've been with him for most of my life, so far. They're... very loyal as well."

Another sip of her own drink, now getting into the actual... drink itself. She was already relaxing a bit; Caitlyn wasn't at all overwhelming. "I'm... adept with animals, so I spend a lot of time with other's mounts as well. Of course, technology has impacted the need for... for some. Other than that, I stay in shape and... and read a little."

"Have you read anything good lately? I'm always on the lookout for an interesting tale." Reading was one of Caitlyn's main hobbies as well, and even writing-she even had one book published, though it was essentially an extended training manual for law enforcement. Now that Florina seemed a little less tense, Caitlyn was beginning to get a more certain picture of her personality. What she'd seen so far, she liked, though she couldn't help but wonder how different she might be on the battlefield.

"Mm... well, I'm not a very... fast reader," she admitted. Most of what she'd learned to read was how to handle a contract, how to do basic financial math, the sort of thing that a mercenary would need to not get screwed over. "I just... read non-fiction, or... young adult stories." Although it was nice that Caitlyn was interested.

Another drink of her beer, this time a bit longer and then... oh. Her eyes widened slightly, and she covered her mouth as she did her best to burp quietly and cutely. Great. "E-e-excuse me."

The small burp drew a giggle out of Caitlyn, and a light shake of her head as she sipped her water once more. "You're excused, certainly. I'm sure I'd be worse if I were drinking beer." She didn't often partake of alcohol, and carbonated drinks even less so. "I wish I had more time to read, but work tends to keep me busy."

If Caitlyn was laughing, Florina had only two choices - laugh along, or feel even worse about it. She managed a small laugh of her own. It didn't seem like Caitlyn was laughing at her really...

"M-me too. It's... hard work. I'm sure yours is too." Florina raised her head, meeting Caitlyn's eyes more directly than ever. "But it's... well... it's my life, for better or worse."

As good as she was at her job, that certainly didn't make it easy. Especially when Caitlyn tended to seek out greater challenges, and still had completely failed to gain any new information about C, the thief that she, at least, considered her nemesis.

"It seems to suit you well, or at least you speak fondly enough of it. How did you end up in merc-" Cut off by the waiter once more, Caitlyn ordered the soup of the day along with a small salad, not having taken any time to peruse the menu and smiling apologetically at Florina for that fact when she was addressed in turn.

Florina had passed on the soup, but the salad was enough for her before the main course arrived, and she gladly took it, setting it slightly aside as she pondered their options - asking if they had any couples specials. A daily pasta special, portioned for two people, that their salads would be on the bill for...

"Um, does that sound... good for you?" she asked Caitlyn, looking back at her shyly. "It's up to you."

"That sounds lovely." She likely wouldn't eat too much of the pasta, considering the soup and salad, but she also wouldn't say no. "And it's my treat-the trio that set this up on my end insisted they pay for it." No need to say that that was required to get Caitlyn to come to begin with, even though Florina would hopefully realize that it wasn't a reflection on her if it came up.

"G-good. And that... sounds alright." If it was Caitlyn offering to pay for the whole thing then there was no way Florina wasn't going to pitch in, but yes, the friends who offered to pay for this were the ones who'd said that, after all, so she may as well get in on that... and go home with some leftovers, depending on portion sizes.

"I-it's not like they can really... complain..." As long as the girls don't go crazy, and Florina hardly knows how to.

Caitlyn knew how to go crazy, but she wasn't about to on a first date. Especially considering she felt confident in the thought that a second date would be in order, at least assuming things continued to be pleasant. Getting Florina talking had taken a bit of effort, but since then, she'd proven an interesting conversation partner-and being cute didn't hurt either.

As the waiter left with their order, Caitlyn tried to remember what she had been saying before the interruption. "Right, I was asking-what drew you to being a mercenary?"

At this rate a second date would, actually, be quite possible, something that had been well outside of Florina's expectations coming into it. Caitlyn listened and let her stutter and blush and fidget without seeming to mind, and she was so pretty to top it all off, that if she really was interested enough, Florina was pretty sure she'd say yes to another.

Florina nodded, dipping her head again a little at the end. "My homeland... we have most of... of the world's knowledge of riding Pegasi into battle, but it's also a very poor land otherwise... s-so we have a long tradition of mercenary work to afford to feed... um, well, everyone." Quite a lot of her money went back home. "...my sisters both went into it... and I admire them, so..."
