The Blind Date meme. Pretty self-explanatory. No matter how awkward and unexpected they might be, there is always something exciting about them. Who is your company for the evening going to be? Will it be a person of your innermost dreams or someone you absolutely can't stand? And most importantly...

Hearing that Florina was uncomfortable around men wasn't entirely surprising. She seemed to be uncomfortable in general, and between her beauty and personality, she'd almost certainly attract an unsavory type...though at least she could rebut them with a spear if need be.

"I trust you have friends among your company, however...I can't help but wonder who it might have been that knew my own colleagues, for this to be set up." Unless Florina had ended up working a job on the wrong side of the law, it was entirely likely the two would have never met.

Florina didn't want to have to spear a man... although her fear ran a little deeper than what seemed logical even to her, an impulsive reaction to keep her distance, even from the ones she liked and trusted.

So it was a good thing she was attracted to women, all told.

"A few. ...for all I know it was my sister. Farina... likes to be connected." While her pride sometimes got in the way, law enforcement and low level politicians were good sources of information about how the people up top looked at things - if they'd be open to hiring. "I'm glad it happened though."

"So am I. You've been great company, so far." Their salads and Caitlyn's soup arrived quickly, the sheriff taking a quick sip of the latter and humming pleasantly. "And it seems the food would have been worth experiencing, even if you and I hadn't gotten along well."

The salad was nice at least! Florina tried to not look too inelegant as she crammed a forkful into her mouth, but she was never as dainty eating as she was just... standing there. "It's... very nice so far." And they have actual good beer too, so she can't complain about that.

"S-so... how about you? Do you... come from family that's... that's been in law enforcement?" she asked, deciding that they couldn't JUST talk about her the whole time.

Caitlyn shook her head as she swallowed another spoonful of soup. "My father is an aristocrat, and my mother an inventor. I ended up tracking down a small band of muggers that attacked my father and bringing them in-and things have simply stuck since." That was about ten years ago, now, Caitlyn only fourteen years old at the time.

"That's... very exciting..." And a bit more peculiar than Florina's own story. More unique; and being the famous sheriff of Piltover was more unique; but she seemed to be taking an interest in Florina anyways. Florina was really starting to feel a lot better about this now.

That did place her some years older than Florina, but that wasn't a real problem either as far as she was concerned. "Y-you really are cool Caitlyn, honestly."

"I'm glad you think so. I tend to hear things like 'impressive,' as you said earlier, much more often-it's nice to be recognized for my personality, not only my skills." She didn't need affirmation that she was as skilled as she was-her record spoke to that. But Caitlyn having people actually share that they enjoyed sharing time with her was something that couldn't be replicated by simple efficiency.

Florina nodded, smiling at Caitlyn. Oh, now her heart was fluttering a little and did she, really, already have a crush on this woman she'd just met? Was she just rushing to make up for having finally given up on the girl she'd pined after? Regardless it did feel nice.

"Obviously you're... you're talented, but you're much more than that. You've been ever so kind to me so far..." she said, feeling just a little self-conscious in a different way now.

...more salad and beer should occupy her mouth for a moment anyways.

Kindness was a trait that Caitlyn tended to pride herself on, preferring to take a gentle approach whenever possible-in stark contrast, of course, from her work. And Florina was easy enough to be kind to, only growing more so the more she seemed confident enough to actually speak up. "Maybe you'll take me flying some time, if Huey is amiable, and I can see some of your talents as well."

"Oh!" Florina seemed surprised by that idea, although her raising her voice still wasn't loud enough to be disruptive. "That's... not a bad idea, no," and it implied a lot more time spent together than just a date or two. "You'd have to meet him and... let him get used to you, certainly, but he's... friendly."

Her talents were basically riding, fighting, and caring for animals, so it would all go together fairly easily at least. "It... it would be nice."

"Then it'll have to be a while, but that's fine. Assuming your band stays within the area, I don't see any reason that we shouldn't plan on at least a second date-and to see where things go from there." Her smile widened a bit at the thought, even as she finally took a few bites of her salad.

"There are... there are a lot of business opportunities here, and we're good enough that... it's hard for competition to nose in." It was almost troubling how much action there was to be had here, but she couldn't complain about earning so much money so readily. Not easily, but very readily.

"Whatever keeps you all from having to move too much, I suppose. Just try to stay on the right side of the law, all things being equal. I'd hate to have to put you or your comrades in my sights." Not that it was impossible that they'd pose a challenge, but as a rule of thumb, she preferred not to have to go after those she thought were more often just than not.

"Oh absolutely. All on the level..." she smiled, then blushed, then lowered her head a little. "But, um, if anyone h-had to bring me in... well I'd... p-prefer you," she... flirted? Joked? A little of both? Either way, Florina giggled at her own line, then took another drink of her beer. That was helping grease the wheels of conversation too, a little bit.

That certainly seemed like flirting, and Caitlyn couldn't help but raise on eyebrow at the words. "And if I had to choose a woman to occupy a cell I'm watching over for the evening, I think I'd pick you. Thankfully, we don't need my work to give us a chance to talk." Or a chance to tie Florina up-not that Caitlyn was nearly confident enough to say *that* on a first date.

Florina's giggles trailed off a little more, pleased with the response. She was doing this date thing correctly after all. "A-all night... we can talk... for a long time without any... any reason like that. Lucky us."

Any comments about tying Florina up might cause her to blush enough to start a fire. "Although I'm... afraid I'm not the best conversationalist for that long."

"Then that's another benefit of not having you behind bars-there's opportunity for more than conversation without you posing a potential danger to me." That statement could very well mean anything Florina might imagine-from cuddling, to reading or eating together, all the way deep into the gutter. Taking another bite of her salad, Caitlyn watched the knight carefully for her reaction.

"I'm... harmless to you, for sure." More than conversation though, that actually took a moment to register what all Caitlyn could mean with that, and her eyes widened slightly. With her own imagination and the way Caitlyn looked in that dress, it was hard not to imagine a little physical contact. Sitting together, reading, shoulder to shoulder, or maybe her head in Caitlyn's lap? She sank down slightly, blushing. "W-we can g-get a lot closer... l-like that."

Though the insinuation definitely sent Florina's nerves into overdrive, at least she wasn't immediately scared off by it. "Perhaps something a bit more low-key than this for our next date, then." That all but solidified plans for a second date, as far as she was concerned-Caitlyn extremely pleased that her coworkers had been right, in this instance.

"I-I'd be happy to... do that." This was a nice start, but it was a bit stuffy despite how nice their conversation was going. Still, a date, just going out to a park, or for ice cream or... to a zoo? ...just spending time together at one of their homes? That might get a little dicey if they weren't careful though.

Maybe she wanted it to get dicey. Not this soon, though. Caitlyn might have experience too... "Um, I'm... glad we're going on another though."

"So am I. And that I let them convince me to come out to meet you." That had certainly been touch and go, and though she couldn't have possibly known to regret it if she hadn't, Caitlyn was quite pleased with the company so far.

And, as though the restaurant knew that her mind was drifting too far from it, the food. The waiter returned once more with their dish, pasta divied out onto two plates. It smelled amazing, and she immediately took a bite. "Good choice, with the pasta."

Florina couldn't really help digging in. For such a small girl, she had a disproportionate appetite, and got a few bites in fairly quickly, before nodding slightly and swallowing. "Y-yeah. I like... food like this, usually." Heavier food reminded her of the simple, filling meals of home - and she burned off enough calories for a carb-heavy diet to boot.

Though she likewise could easily burn off the calories, Caitlyn wasn't quite as quick an eater. Still, the sheriff consumed her own food with relative speed, stopping about halfway through to take a gulp of water and resume the conversation. "Do you normally have food prepared for you? I expect a mercenary camp has many mouths to feed."

"I'm not... much of a cook myself, so I usually get my main meal with my comrades. The food isn't great, but it's... I mean, I don't want to badmouth our cooks, they work hard." And Florina wasn't terribly picky, anyways, although she could appreciate the quality of this meal, and recognized that she should probably slow down and enjoy it. She wasn't likely to eat anything this good very often.

"Even everyone that works hard can't be a master. I'm sure you've seen plenty in your line of work that are extremely dedicated but not quite talented enough." While Caitlyn was a proponent of hard work, she knew that raw talent was also important, even if not entirely necessary. To be the top of your craft it was all but certainly required, though.
