On Your Doorstep

They ended up on your doorstep, quite literally. Bloody, possibly. Bruised, most definitely, though the wounds may be mental. You probably don't know them from Adam, yet you couldn't find it in you to turn them away - whether they wanted you to or not. So you opened up your home, just for a little while.

But it's getting to be more than a little while. Both of you are finding a comfort zone, because you didn't simply open up your home. Admit it or don't, but you've opened up your heart all the same.

Their's is slowly following, if its reluctant at all.

[He shakes his head slightly.]

My father is on a business trip to this part of the city, and had me come with him this time. We've been staying in a hotel not far away.

[Baymax nods.]

Once I have tended to your injuries, I will take you back to your hotel.

[He didn't want Chihiro's father worrying about him being gone for so long. If whoever or whatever was still after Chihiro, then he might change into his armor before they go, just to be safe.

Baymax checks his internal timer.]

It is time for the ice pack to be removed from your eye. It needs to remain off of your eye for at least ten minutes.

[He blinks once as he checks his internal database.]

Which contusion is causing you the most pain?

[He points to his eye, slowly.]

It...doesn't hurt as much as it did, though.

I am glad that the pain of your periorbital hematoma has gone down. The treatment is working.

Is there another spot that you would like the ice pack to be placed on? It will be several more minutes before you can place the ice pack on your periorbital hematoma again.

Mmm...here.

[He points to the smaller bruises dotting the other side of his face.]

[Baymax nods, then gently places the ice pack on the indicated area.]

Ice can be applied to your contusions three or more times a day for ten to twenty minutes at a time. Contusions heal on their own, but placing ice on your contusions will keep your pain level down. You can take Tylenol every four to six hours and ibuprofen every six hours. Do not take more than five dosages of Tylenol and four dosages of ibuprofen in a 24-hour period.

[There's not much more he can do for Chihiro, so he's telling him how to take care of his injuries once he's returned to his hotel.]

[He really does appreciate it, though. He just isn't sure what he's going to do when he gets back to the hotel and has to explain what happened to his father...]

[He tilts his head.]

How did you get these contusions? You do not have to answer if you are not comfortable doing so.

[If there's someone or something causing trouble, then somebody needed to know about it. Baymax and his friends could likely take care of the problem, but they had to be aware of the situation first.]

Mmm...

[His expression visibly darkens at that as he looks down, shifting a bit in his seat.]

I ran into...some classmates I used to have, a long time ago.

But it's nothing. I'm okay.

[Baymax blinks once, he's programmed with some knowledge of bullying, so it's not hard for him to come up with an explanation for what had happened.]

I am sorry that your classmates did this to you. It is not nothing, your pain level was at a nine.

[He removes the ice pack and sets it on the table so that it won't be in the way of what he does next. He then brings his soft, vinyl arms around Chihiro and wraps him in a big, warm hug.]

[...oh. He wasn't...expecting that. Chihiro freezes more out of surprise than anything else, sitting still for a few seconds before letting himself relax. Then, he leans forward to wrap his arms...not exactly around Baymax, but as far around as he can reach.]

[Baymax is pleased that Chihiro returns the hug after a short delay. Hugs had more benefits when they were returned. He gently pats the back of his patient's head to help reassure him.

No words are needed, he's just letting Chihiro know that he's there for him. He'll let his patient set the length of the hug, he's paying attention to his body language and watching for any signs of him being done with hugging.]

[There's something...oddly soothing about hugging Baymax, though it's not surprising why. He's like a giant marshmallow, soft and warm and not at all threatening.

After a little while Chihiro pulls back, lifting a hand to rub his good eye again.]

Thank you for helping me.

[When he feels Chihiro pull back, Baymax lets go and stands up straight again.]

You are welcome. Are there any other injuries I need to attend to?

No, I don't think so. I'm a bit tired...but otherwise I'm fine.

[Baymax tilts his head.]

If you are tired, then you should rest. Would you like to go back to the hotel now?

[He nods.]

Yes...I would.

[Baymax nods as well, backing up to give Chihiro plenty of room to get up. He offers a hand if his patient wants or needs it.]

Would you like to take some pain medicine with you?

[The medicine in his system would last for a while, but if Chihiro didn't have any back at the hotel, then he could get into bad shape without more handy.]

Oh, well...

[He frowns a little, trying- and failing- to look past Baymax into the gloom of the rest of the cafe. He does take his hand as he stands, though.]

Would...the people living here mind?

[Baymax helps Chihiro stand up, then shakes his head.]

No, they will not mind. Hiro and Aunt Cass want to help people as well.

[In fact, they'd probably encourage him to just take both bottles with him. Aunt Cass has stopped bullies before, so she knows how much trouble they can cause. She'd probably offer him one of the pastries from behind the counter along with the pain medicine.]

Well...if you say so. That's okay, then.

[Baymax nods.]

Take however much pain medicine you need. I do not want your pain level to go up again.

[He tilts his head.]

Is there ice in the hotel?

There should be. I think there is an ice machine not far from our room.

With both pain medicine and ice, you should be able to take care of your contusions.

[He pauses for a moment, blinking as his database makes a fact more prominent.]

I am equipped with phone services, I can give you my number in case you need help with a medical matter.

...I would like that, thank you.

[...he's really not sure how he's going to explain this to his dad now, but...well, better to be safe than sorry.]
