On Your Doorstep

They ended up on your doorstep, quite literally. Bloody, possibly. Bruised, most definitely, though the wounds may be mental. You probably don't know them from Adam, yet you couldn't find it in you to turn them away - whether they wanted you to or not. So you opened up your home, just for a little while.

But it's getting to be more than a little while. Both of you are finding a comfort zone, because you didn't simply open up your home. Admit it or don't, but you've opened up your heart all the same.

Their's is slowly following, if its reluctant at all.

Umm...a few more days, at least. We have been here for a week almost, already.

[It's been nice in the town, though, disregarding his experience tonight.]

Perhaps we will meet again. I stay in the cafe most days, though I go out into the city with Hiro sometimes.

That would be nice. Maybe you and Hiro will get to meet my Papa. He would be very interested to see you.

[Baymax gives Chihiro a polite nod.]

I would not mind meeting your father, I am sure Hiro would not mind it, either.

[Since he's a robot, he can't exactly like or dislike anything, but he likes meeting new people as much as an emotionless robot can.]

Does your father work in robotics or healthcare?

Oh...not healthcare. But he does work with technology. Moreso various types of coding and programming, and not necessarily robotics themselves.

[Baymax nods thoughtfully.]

What sort of things does he code and program?

[He's curious about everything, it's part of his learning program. The more he observes and asks about, the more he knows and can possibly apply to healthcare situations.]

Lots of things. Though he mostly works with large databases of information...whatever he's given to make, he makes it.

I learned everything I know from him.

Are you a programmer, too?

I am, yes. I work mainly with a project I've been working on for quite some time...

[...well, he figures it would be alright to tell Baymax.]

I've been slowly developing an AI program much like yourself, though more for general information rather than healthcare.

[Baymax blinks once as he processes this information.]

Is your AI a database program?

[He could see how that would be useful, he sometimes had to look up healthcare matters that he wasn't programmed for.]

Yes, it is. It can process and obtain whole wealths of information.

Will everyone be able to access the database?

Perhaps, someday. I've been...working on it mostly in secret. Not very many people know about it yet.

I hope that you will be able to finish your database.

[He's aware that it can take a long time to code a program. Because of the fact that he's a robot who knows people at a school specializing in technology, he's picked up pieces of information about the process here and there.]

[Baymax will want to keep an eye out for it, after all, Chihiro is his patient, so he wants to see his accomplishments.]

I have been calling it Alter Ego. AE, for short.

I will remember to look for Alter Ego. Do you think information about it will be put on the Internet or in the newspaper?

[He's put a note with Chihiro's file in his database, so unless something happens, he won't forget.]

Ah...that is hard to say. I suppose it depends on how successful the program is, once it is finished.

If it is a large database, many people may find it useful. If it has healthcare information, I will download the relevant data it contains.

[There wouldn't be much else Baymax would use the database for, however, he did get curious about things sometimes, so he could use it if he wanted to find more on a topic.]

[He hoped it would benefit a lot of people. That was his primary goal, for sure.]

[Baymax would be pleased to learn what Chihiro's goal was for creating Alter Ego, after all he was programmed for the very same reason.]

[The programmer falls silent for a while after that, focusing on walking in what he's pretty sure is the right direction while still staying close to Baymax.

Eventually he slows down, looking up at one of the nearby buildings.]

Ah...this is it.

[Baymax stays quiet as they walk, he's not one for a lot of talking, unless it's healthcare related. When his patient stops, he stops next to Chihiro, looking up at the hotel and making notes about its name and location.]

Would you like me to go in with you?

[He didn't know how far it was to his room and he didn't know if there was anybody else around who was wanting to cause trouble.]
