The (Platonic) Love of my Life Meme

They're your partner, your soulmate, your other half... but you don't think of them *that* way. This is a meme for playing out intimate platonic relationships.

Post with your character, canon, preferences, etc. Tag around. Despite the wording of the meme, Golden Trios (or more) are fine too. Here's some prompts to get you started:

1. Love at First Sight: Your eyes met, and you knew with the tugging at your heart that this person would be your best friend for the rest of your life.

2. Better as Friends: You have mistaken your platonic bond for a romantic one, and are trying to make it work as lovers (and failing). The love and trust is there, but there's no attraction, no spark. When are you going to realize the truth?

3. Wedding Bells: The two of you want all the legal benefits of marriage -- or maybe you're being pressured to marry someone, so you pick your best friend. Just don't let anyone know you don't plan on consummating.

4. Confession: You've been friends for a while, and it's time to let them know the truth -- that your feelings for them go beyond friendship and into platonic partnership. Here's hoping they understand.

5. Under One Roof: You live together. Sharing a bed, arguing over furniture, going for groceries... can your relationship withstand being around each other nearly 24/7?

6. New Life: The two of you are going to raise a child together. Maybe you're adopting, or using artificial insemination. Maybe one of you conceived a child with someone else and the other one will serve as another parent figure for the child.

7. Not my Lover: The two of you are constantly mistaken for lovers -- how could you be so affectionate and intimate with each other without something romantic or sexual going on, after all? You might even get in trouble for this perceived relationship.

8. Three's a Crowd: One or more of you also has a romantic partner in addition to your platonic partner, and they're getting jealous of all the time you spend with your platonic partner. They may even accuse you of cheating, and you may have to choose between the two relationships.

9. Friends Never Say Goodbye: It's been a good run, but it's time for you to part ways. Perhaps you're simply breaking up, or someone has to go far away. Whatever the cause, your memories of this person and what you had together will never fade.

10. I Love You (Intensely and Platonically): Wildcard. Combine prompts, or make up your own scenarios.

Shucking--

[Newt trips over some groceries that have been left out, doing his best to keep balance . Which isn't easy, of course, with his limp. But he manages to, barely, but does half-crash into the nearby kitchen wall.]

Bloody hell, Minho. Warn a guy that you've put out an obstacle course. I just wanted a drink.

[Which he promptly goes to get. Working in the small garden is hard work. It honestly isn't that weird, having to share such a small space with his friend. They've shared in a lot smaller space, for a lot longer. So this is actually a bit nicer, really. And at least there is real food, that they don't have to slaughter themselves.]

[ tragically, the act of minho being newt's beard was officially up once minho went and got a girl knocked up. newt knows it's probably 75% his fault, but she's also been there for every step with amelia, including the eventual custody battle that minho won, earning full time custody of their little mealworm.

which turned newt into a surrogate mom--and she was so fine with that. considering newt's not going to be having any kids of her own anytime soon? yeah, no. she'll be auntie newt--newtie, to amelia--for the rest of her life if she has to be.

today, she's learning to walk, and newt's waiting on the other end of the apartment with her phone camera poised to record as minho holds amelia's hands. ] C'mon, 'meelie, come on, come to Newtie.

[ It's, like, 50% his fault, okay. There were condoms at one point, and she said she was on birth control, and they were - not in love, really, so Minho can't use that excuse. He thought they could go somewhere, but in the end, he's perfectly find with the arrangements that come about. Even if it means taking care of a baby.

At least there's Newt, who's been his other half since they were younger. His parents are disappointed that they're not going to be getting married, and he's pretty sure Newt's aren't going to speak to him for a while. But they have each other, and the beard cover is gone now. ]

One pudgy lil' foot in front of the other, mealworm. [ Amelia coos up at him and burbles as he slowly leads her along, bent forward to take exaggeratedly slow steps towards Newt. ]

Nothing had gone to plan (but then, when did anything go to plan?). Aramis was tired, dirty and wet when they finally made it back to the Garrison.

Porthos and d'Artagnan offered to take the horses and Aramis clapped a hand on Athos's shoulder. At least they were alive and well, for the most part, only a few bruises between the four of them. "Shall we have some wine?"

Athos stands under the rain, his head tilted down, letting his hat shield his face from the icy water. His mood has been sour from the moment he woke up, hungover and broken-hearted as usual, and needless to say that the utter catastrophe that was their mission for the day has done little to improve it.

Aramis's grip on his shoulder is warm and friendly and Athos only considers the question for a second before giving a slight nod and leading the way to the nearest tavern. Athos is not a chatty -or even pleasant- drunk but Aramis knows that, so he doesn't bother protesting anymore.
