How far would you go to get that one thing you always wanted? How much would you be willing to lose? How much is too much?
Welcome to Trader's Bay. It's a nice little store with kiosks all over the universe. This store sells everything and anything as long as you're willing to pay the price. It prides itself on convenience. Just say yes and it'll claim the price for you. Sometimes the price is easy to fulfill. Sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's the life of your newborn baby. Sometimes you don't even know what you agreed to until you lost it.
There's no worry if you have nothing to give. Anything of value to you is a price, even your arm. It's just business, really.
*Note: This meme may range from fluffy to violent, please use your discretion and state your preferences if you have any.
How to play:
1) Post with your character (Name and series in the subject line).
2) Leave the post blank or state your preferences. (What kind of things are they asking for? What kind of things would you want your character to lose. Please state any nos here)

What are you after?
1) Little things - Trade in part of your wardrobe for a brand new dress. Or your favorite plush for a new one. Or your keyboard and monitor for that brand new pair of headphones, oops.
2) Materialistic Things - Trade in your brand new car to buy that new house. Or give up all your belongings to get back that family heirloom you lost a few years ago. Or trade in your husband for that awesome HDTV and home surround system you always wanted. (You never liked him anyway)
3) Connections - Sacrifice your memories to get the love of your life to look at you. Make your friends forget about you so you can get your father's love back.
4) The Physical - Trade in your senses to get back the use of your arm. Trade in a stranger's eyesight for your own (you may have to blind them yourself). Kill a hobo so that your eternal nemesis will never look beautiful again.
5) Survival - Give up an arm to get food and shelter. Sacrifice your sense of touch for the ultimate weapon.
6) Wildcard - all of the above or none of the above. The sky's the limit.
THE WAR ZONE MEME

ROLES
1) The General/Admiral: You're the head honcho, the guy in charge. You have hundreds, maybe thousands of lives resting on you. What decision will you make?
2) The Officer: Not the leader, but you've got responsibility for your crew. What's your specialty -- independent initiative? Insubordination? Or do you let the noncoms walk all over you?
3) The Soldier: Just an ordinary soldier with your pike, or rifle, or energy gun. Your job is to follow orders. But when it comes down to it, when you look the enemy in the eye -- what will you do?
4) Spy: Dressed in civilian clothes, disguised as an enemy officer. Your job is to get as much information as you can, and then get out. Or are you going to sow a little chaos and destruction along the way?
5) Civilian: This is your land that's being fought over. Do you support a side? Do you hide, or do you hold steady in the face of such violence?
6) Other.
SCENARIOS
1) Battle: In the middle of the fighting.
2) Downtime/R&R: A few peaceful moments, to spend as you will.
3) Sabotage: Something's gone terribly wrong. A factory blown up, a bridge destroyed, an assassination. What do you do about it?
4) Planning: How do you go about storming that beach?
5) Capture/Rescue: The enemy soldiers have you surrounded. Or maybe you're on a daring mission to break your buddies out of jail.
6) Other.
TIME PERIOD
1) Ancient times: Grab that centurion's helmet, form up into a phalanx, and let's go crush those Gauls and/or Persians!
2) Medieval times: Suit up in your armor, grab a lance and make sure to bring along your squire.
3) Revolutionary times: Basic guns and muskets, very little medical care, and very little tactics. Give the other army a few days to dig in, and they'll hold you off forever.
4) World War I/II: Technology is advancing, and warfare is more sophisticated than ever. Remember the trenches, the skirmishes in cities, the spies and the drama.
5) Modern times: Guerilla warfare, modern tactics, modern technology.
6) The future: Ray guns? Space battles? Let your imagination go wild.
7) Other.

the mutual captivity dependency (romance) meme
No matter how hard you fought, how subtly or overtly you rebelled, or how many times you tried to escape, you ended up at this point all the same: you're a prisoner. Perhaps you're just a regular, run of the mill captive, perhaps a hostage, a science experience, a weapon to be used, yet, no matter what, you're not free.
But you're also not alone.
There's someone else confined along with you, who you met through your mutual imprisonment. The only thing you two may have in common is that you're both trapped here - and that's enough. The two of you grow close (it seems you're closer to them than you've ever been to anyone, but that could just be the situation); soon, something begins to start between you, tiny and delicate. You can't speak to what that something is, not in a place like this, but you know you want it to last. They are another reason to keep going.
Captivity, of course, has a way of stripping everything from you, including reasons to live. Surely, it is only a matter of time before this small - and still somehow world encompassing - comfort is taken from you...
...no. Not this time. They've taken all you have, right down to your freedom, and it stops now. You won't let the person who's become most precious to you in this hell be stolen away.

- Comment with your character and preferences. Are you open to AUs and assumed CR? What are your limits? Given the subject of the meme, there's likely to be triggering material here. Do you prefer very dark fare or a light at the end of the tunnel scenario?

There are undoubtedly moments in our lives that define us, no matter how crystal clear or hazy or memories of those times are. In the case of hazy recollections, it's more likely than you'd think. How strange it its that one inconsequential, in the grand scheme of things, event can change the course you take...not always so seriously or dramatically, of course. You can't remember why you don't like soup; in actuality, you burned your tongue badly on chicken soup at one point, long ago. You'd forgotten, but your mind and body didn't. More weighty traumas that you've unknowingly pushed back can work in much the same way. You shy away from using scissors as you feel a shiver run down your spine, not necessarily as you remember blood gushing from toddler-sized fingers when you played with the big-kid scissors and cut yourself. Still, there is a connection and it keeps you "safe" through past experience. The consciousness is amazing in that way, constantly making associations that, for better or worse, shape how we view the world around us, though we may not always recall what brought us those views. In this meme, however, there's no way this particular association - a special person, being around them, and your happiness - can go unnoticed, and you know the exact cause. In fact, you can track down the exact moment: this person came to you when you were low, perhaps even at your lowest. Like some guardian angel, they showed you kindness, they turned your world right side up again, they gave you a helping hand, or they granted you your life when they could have taken it. Perhaps it was something as simple as not treating you like trash. At that particular time, what they did meant everything. Whether you see your response to this as a welling up of true love or merely you owing them a debt, what you feel towards them cannot be measured. Even if you're usually as warm as a giant block of ice with a black heart, you have feelings towards them you can't quite understand. If you're emotional at the best of times, you'll most likely be completely overcome. Whatever the case may be, what you know for certain is that you want to stay with this and feel that lightness in your heart. Depending on what other associations you've made and how you've figured the world works for you, this desire could lead to actions going smoothly or terribly, terribly wrong and creepy.  The search parties are out, the flags are raised, because you're missing. Gone without a trace, really. Or are you? There's a suspect in your disappearance, someone who absolutely had to take you away by force. The picture's clear to all outside parties. Except it isn't that clear cut. You've left, yes, and you've been taken, of course, but you weren't strong-armed into it. You went with this person, this suspect, of your own free will. Because you love them, because you can't be together otherwise, because they offer a better opportunity regardless of your feelings towards them, because you want to escape someone else you know for certain you can't love, or just because you can. Those people who believe you've been snatched away, they don't get it. They don't know you were given a choice...you took it.
