How It Works

Sometimes, memes can be awkward. There's always that feeling that, if you don't know the person behind the curtain, you'll be intruding somehow. Don't worry. We've all been there. Still, it's nice to have that little reassurance that hey, it's cool. We're all in this together and we just want to play. That's where this meme comes in! The point here is to play with someone you've never played with before, OR play with a character/canon you're unfamiliar with. The prompts provided include mundane activities, chance meetings, platonic fluff, romance/smut, fighting, and crack. This is pretty much the granddaddy of meme variety, so there should be something for just about everyone. INSTRUCTIONS - Comment with you character(s). In the subject field, put all the info that's relevant + any preferences. - Reply to others. Remember, the goal is to play with new people! - The initial set of prompts is in this post. [The day could have gone worse for the both of them. As things stand, it's rather good.]

It's something I learned... helping to free the Tharils from slavery. After being slaves... well it helped them to talk.

They made me one of their leaders. Ironic, considering I stayed there to avoid the Gallifreyan Presidency.

There aren't? I've never forgotten my first doctor...

He studies her thoughtfully, and gives a mild nod. "I have a terrible track record with students, but training the Prime Merlinian is the greater part of fulfilling my quest."

"Perhaps, but I'm... not good at all with children." At least, he certainly hopes he catches the Prime Merlinian while they're still a child, because they're a lot harder to teach otherwise.

Time Lords send their children away to the academy near the age of eight. I would say we're not good with children either.

"That's roughly how old I was when Merlin took me in..." He nods a little, it's a similar upbringing, in some ways.

[Romana chuckles softly.]

Well, between that and your age, it explains why our views are so similar.

He gives a chuckle in return, and arches an eyebrow at her. "Are you calling me an old man?" He is, of course, and he's amused.

Well, I have to admit, it's not often I get to say that about a human.

He rolls his eyes and sighs. "You're welcome, then." He's going to act put-upon about it, but it's fairly clear he doesn't really mean it.

[And that just makes her laugh.]

I do hope you get to meet the Doctor some day. You'll either drive each other mental or become best mates.

He smirks. "I do believe I'd be interested to meet him, but I already have a best mate." Nobody will be replacing Balthazar in that capacity, even if the one he's friends with is from an alternate universe.

And it would be utterly impossible to have more than one...

[Yes, she's teasing him now.]

He looks thoughtful. "I never have..."

[He recognizes that, but the realization is a perfectly serious one.]

[Her face falls at his admission.]

I'm sorry...

[She didn't mean for it to sound like that. But she's also sorry he's only ever had one at a time.]

"Well..."

He brushes invisible lint off his vest front, suddenly a little embarrassed, because he supposes he's got nobody to blame for that but himself.

"As I've said, I'm not entirely good with people, and I have my duties. That always comes first."

What's that phrase you humans are fond of? No one is an island...

[She offers a tiny smile and squeezes his arm warmly. She's here after all.]

"Hmh. I don't believe in clichés."

Now he's just being curmudgeonly, of course, but he squeezes her arm just a little in return.

"But I'll keep it in mind, thank you. Perhaps we'll have the fortune to run into each other again?"

[romana2]

[Romana smiles warmly.]

I would like that... perhaps under less unusual circumstances.

[Who is she kidding? That the only kind that exist for her anymore.]

He blinks, and breaks stride to pat her hand, a little awkwardly holding the cane.

"I'm not certain those exist."

[romana2]

[She chuckles softly.]

Well, it was worth a try.

"I'm a sorcerer. Ordinary is outside my line of work."

He's recovered his good mood, at least.

Time Lord... much the same. But I hold out hope.
