i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it
ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it
iii WHY:
001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singin. Singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO RAIN.
006 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.

[ She’s calling his bluff. He wants more time.
But this is her show, and she’s doing a good job of making him think she’s ready to walk away. He withdraws his hand and curls it into a fist, which he rests on the table. ]
Yes. [ It’s short and clipped, but it’s an undeniable answer to everything she’s put before him. Yes, he’d been involved at the museum. Yes, he’s tempted by what she’s offering. Yes, he’ll take the job. ] Fine. You have your muscle.
Who else is in on this play?
no subject
And apparently he's going for it. She leans back in her seat and grins at him. ] Glad to have you aboard, Adam. Don't sound so pissy, either. You're getting a fuckton of money after this.
And so far it's just you and me.
no subject
[ Adam leaned forward, his icy blue eyes deadly serious as they fixed on hers. ]
All joking aside, how the fuck do you expect us to roll over a bank by ourselves? I can give you a diversion, nor a bloody miracle. I hope you know that.
no subject
Plus a few neutralizing collars for anyone with powers inside. Don't worry I've already got those.
Then we wave our power around awhile. Hold some hostages until the news finds us. And we clear an exit out.
The last part I'm working on. The exit. I'll need to find a teleporter. Or maybe a shadow manipulator who can give us coverage. Or something. I'll find someone else, don't worry. Leave that to me.
no subject
A teleporter.
[ Adam sighed, bringing a hand up and tapping his lips for a moment. He didn't have any contacts like that, but then he was as new to the game as she was. If her family was as big as she said, maybe she'd know who to ask.
If not, this operation would go south very quickly. But she had to be aware of that. This was her game, he wasn't in command. ]
Well you'd best get someone who knows what they're at, then.
You already know my game. What's yours, what powers have you got to wave around? Not counting your ego, obviously. I'm assuming you have something more impressive than that waiting in the wings.
no subject
Then he got back onto her and she smiled slightly. ]
You're a real flatterer, you know that?
[ She brought her thumb to her teeth, biting it hard enough to break the skin without even a flinch. Blood beaded up on the pad of her thumb, a single droplet forming.
Then she drew out more, letting her blood grow up instead of flowing out, twisting and writhing until it formed a rose. She took the rose between her fingers and held it up. ]
I manipulate my own blood. I can make it strong enough to even protect against bullets as a shield. Or sharp enough to slice through a person's neck in one swipe.
no subject
[ Adam smiled at her sarcasm. He could be charming when he wanted to be, absolutely. He'd be charming to her when he had to be, but right now? That's not in his mind. He doesn't want to charm her, he wants to goad her into showing him what she's made of.
Apparently, he's successful.
She bites herself, and he can't help but stare as her blood forms a solid rose. It hardens into a dull sheen, almost like stained glass, and he reaches to take it from her. Fuck, that's weird. He turns it over in his hand, and then his eyes go back to her. ]
Impressive. [ He has to admit it. ]
It'd be more so if you didn't have to cut yourself to get the use of it. Do you regenerate your own blood as well?
no subject
Then how else would I manipulate blood? [ She asks as he talks about her cutting herself. ]
Everyone replenishes their own supply of blood. But yes. I regenerate it faster than normal people do.
no subject
That’s what I meant, smartarse. [ Adam rolls his eyes. He has to admit, it’s interesting. A bit ghoulish, but interesting. ]
You’d best be careful not to leave any drops of it lying about where we’re going. You know they’ll never find you faster than if you’re as obvious as that. No haemo-play. Or at least if you want blood weapons, make them before we go in.
[ Who’s in charge here? Mia, in theory. But Adam will have a hard time protecting someone who leaves that sort of mess behind her. ]
no subject
I know this is my first hit, but I've been preparing for it all my life. I know how to not leave a drop behind.
[ She leaned back at that and let her eyes tear over him again, examining him again for any faults he might have. ]
You know if you do this you'll be a criminal. I doubt any heroes will come after us for a small hit, but if they do they'll be legally allowed to do so. And any resistance will just get you into further trouble.
You sure you're up for it? You're kind of a pretty boy they might make a bitch out of you in prison.

[ Adam rolled his eyes. Then he leaned forward and slid his jacket off, so that he was just in his t-shirt. It was already pretty tight since he was three times bigger than normal. But now he pumped that further, swelling his muscles to six times their normal size, and stopping there only because he knew the t-shirt literally wouldn’t have taken anymore. It was plastered to him now, flush against his skin. He looked like a fucking Olympic bodybuilder, and he could’ve gone further in better clothes.
He lifted his eyebrows at her. ]
I’d fucking like to see them try. I’m only on the bottom when I want to be, and I’m no one’s bitch. Not theirs, and not yours. All right, love?
[ But then he smiled. ]
Anyway, that’s only going to be an issue if we get caught, and we’re bloody not going to. Correct?
no subject
Of course we're not getting caught in the act, but I'm talking about after. I won't be around to make sure you don't get caught then. Or that people won't come after you. Most don't, but I'm just saying you could be setting yourself to be a target for heroes forever after this.
It's just a possibility.
no subject
You’re a bloody drama queen, do you know that?
[ Slowly, Adam let his muscles deflate. They didn’t go down the full way, but settled around about what they’d been before. His shirt looked comfortable again, and he relaxed.
At ease now, he smiled and shrugged his shoulders. ]
A target for heroes, forever. Who says I’m not already? If you knew about the museum, so could one of them.
[ And there was the other factor, too. The small problem of what he and Jules were doing together, and the knowledge that if they were discovered, they’d be out of home on their ears, and probably fucking jailed. If Adam could do this, he could use the payment to start his own fund, independent of their family, and then if they ever needed to get the fuck out of dodge, they could. It was an attractive prospect. ]
Let me take care of my shit. Anyone who comes after me will be sorry they tried, don’t worry about that.
no subject
[ She leaned back and smiled sweetly. ]
But since you can handle it, I don't have to worry about that.
no subject
I said I can handle it.
[ The flare of irritation in his eyes is real. She's pretty stuck on questioning his nerve here. He has nothing if not nerve. ]
Now do you want me, or not? Because you headhunted me, remember. If you don't think I'm up to scratch, you can watch me walk away. Decide.
no subject
But yes. I want you. [ She extended her hand for him across the table. ] Welcome to the team, Adam.
no subject
That’s more like it.
[ She might have her doubts about him, but Adam’s doubts are far from here. He reaches over, shaking her hand as gently as he can with his muscles bulked like this. His grip is still probably overtight. ]
When does this go down?
no subject
And ow. ]
You're a little sensitive, aren't you? [ She pulls her hand away, shaking it now. ]
And after I find the last person we need, then we'll make a plan and set a date. Hopefully only two or three weeks until we can do something.
no subject
Sorry.
[ Glancing at her hand. He’d tried to be gentle. ]
What else do you need? I might know someone.
no subject
no subject
[ He doesn’t want to give Jules’ name without cause. He’ll protect her more than he’ll protect himself. That’s why she’s not with him. ]
A telepath. The best I know.
At the museum, she kept us in contact, and in the end she got us out.
no subject
She may be the last one we need if she can be the one to get us out.
no subject
Because I didn’t know if I was in or not. [ And Jules had been hurt one too many times. Adam frowns. ] If you like the sound of her, I’ll ask her. She trusts me, I’m not giving her details to anyone else.
no subject
no subject
[ Adam looks up at her, eyes searching. Then, without a word of protest, he moves his hand over the phone and pulls it across the table, depositing it in his pocket. ]
All right, Morticia. I’ll give you a heads up either way. I can promise you me, at least.
[ And he’d see what Jules said. ]
