❄ it's quiet and the snow's beautiful tonight → a winter open meme ‧ post with whatever character you want ‧ responders roll for weather + scenario and get to threading ‧ ??? ‧ profit snowfall; stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white. stage ii; very light and intermittent. stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods. stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall. stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it. scenarios; ① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on. ② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do? ③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all. ④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!! ⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket. ⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips. ⑦ mix and match, or make up your own ‧:❉:‧ - from krystaliske @ memebells

Yeah. But the snow makes up for it, right? It looks nice and it's good for snowball fights.

The snow is nice. It is much warmer on my world so this doesn't happen much.

[She glances over at him curiously] Snowball fights? What are those?

[hackingyoursensors]

You take the snow and make a ball out of it and then you throw it at someone. Usually, you build snow forts too as a kind of shelter from your opponent's snowballs.

It doesn't hurt, of course. Unless someone's a jerk and puts a rock in their snowball.

[She thinks about that for a moment as they walk]

So it is a pretend fight then? It sounds like it could be fun.

[He nods]

Have you ever experienced winter before, Kori?

[She's quiet a moment when he asks that]

I have, but it wasn't as nice as this.

What do you mean?

[escapedprincess]

[She debates a moment telling him, but decides against it. She doesn't really want to let getting into it and spoil it]

It is nothing that we need to worry about. This is much better.

[He doesn't push. No point in ruining Kori's day, right?]

If you don't know about snow balls, does that mean you've never built a snowman either?

[She shakes her head] No, I never have. Sounds like it would be difficult.

[Building a whole man from snow couldn't be easy]

Not really. You just roll up three snowballs-- a big one, a medium-sized one, and a little one-- and stack them on top of each other. Then you dress it up however you want.

It sounds kinda silly, come to think of it.

[Kinda silly... but she's never had the chance to do this before and since she wants to enjoy the snow, the silly isn't quite so silly]

Can we do that?

Of course! There's a park just up ahead. It'll be the perfect place to make a snowman.

[escapedprincess]

Alright. Let's go then. [She's enthusiastic, but she will continue to walk with him]

[Dick quickens his pace slightly, as if sensing her eagerness.

They arrive at the park only a minute or so later. It's completely covered with sparkling snow of just the right consistency for snowball-making. He makes his way through the snow until he finds a nice spot where they can work.]

First things first: we need to make the biggest ball for the snowman.

[She follows him quickly to the park. When they get there, it is just a vast stretch of snow. That makes her excited to make the snowman since there is so much to work with]

Alright.

[She crouches down and starts making a snowball]

[He keeps an eye on her handiwork, though she seems to be doing a good job. For his part, he starts rolling up the medium-sized one.]

This'll go much faster with two people.

[Once she gets the hang of it, she's able to work on the large one fairly quickly glancing up periodically to make sure it isn't too small for the one he's making]

Is this good?

Perfect.

[He stacks the medium one on top.]

Now we have to make the small one. Want to do the honors?

[escapedprincess]

Alright. [She takes a moment to make a smaller snowball to go on top. Once she's done, she picks it up and sets it on top]

So this is a snowman?

[hackingyoursensors]

Yeah. I know, it doesn't look anything like a man. But once we add eyes and a nose and everything else, it'll look at least more interesting.

Oh! So what do we need to find to make eyes and nose?

[hackingyoursensors]

Traditionally, you use coal for eyes and a carrot for the nose, but rocks will work fine. I don't think we'll find any carrots lying around out here anyway.

[escapedprincess]

No, it would be a bit hard to find a carrot right now. [It didn't look like any stores were open and she had forgotten her sunglasses to hide her eyes even if they had been] I could always fly home and see if there is one there.

No, no. We'll just improvise.
