I'm sorry. I don't want that.

My fun is very juvenile, I know. I'm just past caring. As evidenced by the fort.

It doesn't bother me. It's a lot of fun. And I need fun.

Good. Hopefully that'll paper over the not-so-fun part that'll come up one day.

It makes me nervous when you halfway mention that.

Which is why I keep halfway mentioning it and not explaining it. I'm trying to gauge your possible responses, here. Scientifically. Also I got a relationship book.

And what does your relationship book say?

That if you find out from a source other than me, you'll leave me. And that you might leave me anyway and I need a support network in case that happens.

And what do you think, Tony? After what we've already been through?

I don't know. I don't want to lose moments like this. I love you. I love this thing we have, I love being with you, I love your smile, the way you feel when you're holding me. The way you treat me like it doesn't matter I'm rich. The way you always have my back in a battle. The fact you're stronger than any woman I've ever known.

If I lose all that, I just don't know how I'd handle it.

[Carol finishes placing her cushion before looping around the fort and stepping up to Tony. Her arms loop around him and she holds him close to her in a tight embrace.] You still have all of that. I don't want to lose you either.

I have that until I drop the bombshell on you. [He hugs her tightly, too tightly.] I - I - you know I've been to therapy before. You know what happened to me when I was seven. It had side effects. [The tightness doesn't even bother her.] I know, Tony. I know. You're still Tony Stark. You're still the man I love.

[And he drops his arms, steps back, wraps his arms around himself and shuts his eyes, bracing for the fall out.]

[Carol hadn't expected that answer, but she considers it as he steps back.] Have I ever talked to your other personality? Is that the proper thing to call it?

You've never met Amorra. I've worked hard at keeping him as secret as possible. He's very, very different from me. You'd know. You're one of maybe five people who know right now that he's even a thing at all. All my life I pushed him down, and then... then he started up again. I don't know why.

Amorra. When, uh... when does he usually come out? Oh God, Tony, I'm so sorry, I don't know how to properly ask questions.

When life's gone to shit. When I've been broken, and I can't take being Tony Stark anymore. He formed when I was seven. And then he just kept popping up when I was overwhelmed. [Carol scrubs her face. She can deal with a split personality. She can deal with him not knowing her, or disappearing to a different apartment, but the thought of her boyfriend being with someone else - even though she understood that it wasn't the same person - that she couldn't deal with.]

Therapy. Drugs. Prayer, although he's the religious one, not me. I've never been rid of him. He keeps coming back. For longer and longer periods of time.
