[ Ugh, why does he have to explain this. It's not like he can move, though, not with the dragon in his lap, a low rumble sounding from him that's nearly a purr. Christ.
Dean winds his arm around the dragon and strokes between his wings, needing to do something with his hands.
He knows Cas has kissed people before, but this is different. ]
You're not supposed to kiss someone if you don't want to. [ It's a weak explanation, but it works well enough. ]
no subject
The circumstances were wrong, but...
[But what? It seems to Castiel that now that this has been brought up, they can't simply ignore it, or it's going to continue bothering him.
Dean may be willing to bottle it up, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's healthy for him to do so.]
Are you saying you don't want to, then?
no subject
Dean exhales slowly, dragging his hand over his face and feels the dragon let out a little huff in sympathy, nosing against him. Cat's already out of the bag, ain't it? No sense in putting up a bitchfest now. If Cas wants to bolt, then, that's his thing. ]
I'm not saying I didn't want to, I'm saying it's bullshit that's what happened.
[ Ugh. Dean still isn't looking at him. ]
What about you, huh? Gettin' the full human experience, shitty demon kisses and all.
no subject
It's true that it shouldn't have happened that way, if it was going to happen at all. He can understand Dean's frustration with it.]
Demons taste like sulfur. It's not... particularly pleasant, but the act itself is enjoyable enough.
[Kissing Dean rather than kissing Abaddon in Dean would probably be a much nicer experience, though he's not certain that's ever going to happen at this point.
Nor does he really know how he feels about it. He's never had to examine his own emotions about this until now.]
no subject
That's not the kinda thing you just do with someone 'cause it feels "enjoyable enough."
[ That's the kind of thing he does with people because it's enjoyable but Cas...he can't imagine Cas taking to women and bars and such like it's the easiest thing. It's different here and Dean's already bad enough for him, he shouldn't make it worse. ]
You don't get it, Cas.
no subject
He doesn't get it. That's what he's been told about a number of different things since he met Dean, and he isn't able to deny it whenever it comes up.
But he can learn. Boots trots over to him and Castiel bends down to pat him on the head, but he keeps his gaze fixed on Dean.]
Explain it to me, then.
no subject
Still, there's a slice on his stomach where Abaddon had branded him and that hurts like a mother so he needs to get that taken care of. His shirt's in tatters anyway.
With a displeased huff, he strips it off and jams it into the trash as he starts walking, trusting Cas to follow. ]
There ain't much to explain, Cas. Dude, you freaked at the cathouse, which, was hilarious but it's not like you're itchin' to get the full human experience, okay?
no subject
[Is there a reason that he's so stuck on this subject? Castiel doesn't even know for himself, but this feels like something they can't simply forget about or shove to the side. They've already been doing that for too long.
When Dean removes his shirt, though, it reminds Castiel that there are other problems at hand. The spot where his tattoo and the brand were placed have both been skinned, and so there's plenty of blood covering Dean's front.]
... I can wrap your wounds. [Sam might be the better choice for that, but Castiel feels obligated to do it. It's not that he's responsible for what happened to Dean, yet still, something happened between them.]
no subject
Did you want to?
[ The words slip out before he means for them to, but once they're out there he's not taking it back, lingering at the doorway of the bathroom a moment before stepping inside to grab the first aid kit and a washcloth. Wiping away the mess is easy, but his shoulders are still held tense. ]
Fine.
[ It's easier with help, he knows that. Nothing needs stitches but it's easier than juggling all of this. Dean shoves the bandages at him and starts working on disinfectant, hissing. ]
no subject
Castiel follows Dean into the bathroom, nodding in response to his question. There would be something cathartic about tending to Dean's wounds. Even if he couldn't stop them from happening in the first place, the least he can do is take care of them now.
He takes the bandages from Dean and then gestures for him to take a seat on the lip of the bathtub as he unwraps the first roll. He's done this a few times by now, to the point that it's becoming routine, though he still misses the days when he could heal Dean with nothing more than a touch.
Back when he'd been useful.]
She's going to try and find this place again, now that she's been brought here.
no subject
Gingerly, he sits on the edge of the tub and lets Cas get to work, his head tipped back, looking at the ceiling, counting cracks in the old stone. ]
I know she is. This place is warded to high hell, though. She's not gettin' in unless we want her to.
[ Hopefully. They ought to figure out exactly what else they can do to protect the place, though. The less they have to worry about, the better. ]
And for the record, I meant kissing. Not slappin' bandaids on me.
no subject
He should be focusing on the possible threat that Abaddon presents, but as Castiel works he studies Dean's mouth instead, considering the question now that it's been clarified.
Does he want to? It's something he hadn't thought too hard on until now, but in light of the idea being presented to him, he thinks...
It might be worth a try.
Dean's stomach still needs to be wrapped, but Castiel throws caution to the wind and ignores that for the moment, leaning forward and tilting Dean's chin up until their lips meet. This is a lot easier if he simply doesn't think too hard on it.]
no subject
Of course everything gets tilted on its head when he realizes Cas is giving him that sort of too-intense look that means he's thinking about something and Dean opens his mouth to ask what, something on my face, but by the time he does Cas is already leaning in.
Christ, he's not a friggin' girl. He knows how this works and if that's not an answer enough, then he doesn't know what is. His hands are still damp from rinsing off, but he reaches one up and curls his hand in Cas' mess of dark hair and tilts his head, easing his mouth over Cas' a little more deliberately. The first time sucked. No need for this time to. ]
no subject
And kissing is nice, he's learned that by now. This is different from what he's used to, in that he can feel Dean's stubble rubbing over his chin, but it's also familiar in a way that has everything to do with the fact that he's handled Dean's soul and spent years fighting alongside him.
His hands reach out, one setting on Dean's good shoulder and the other on his upper arm. The position is awkward with him leaning down and Dean seated, but it doesn't matter to him right now. He wants to make his intentions clear, before Dean can get any other ideas.
It may have been impulsive, but so far Castiel isn't regretting this.]
no subject
[ There's still his injuries to worry about, but they're not life threatening and if he's being honest, for once, they all kind of pale in comparison to everything else going on. Dean's hand cups the back of his head, and sure, it's not long and silky but he's made out with chicks with short hair before. It's a little weird with the whole stubble thing, and the fact that Cas doesn't feel like a girl, but it's good. It's familiar, and when he finally pulls back, his tone is a lot less self-deprecating and a bit more amused. ]
Ease up, man, I'm still gonna bleed all over everything if we don't take care of this.
[ Joking is easier than acknowledging exactly what any of this means, or even thinking about it. He leans in, presses a firmer kiss to Cas' lips and then pulls back again, some of the tension at the situation bleeding out as he realizes that yeah, Cas was pretty into that and it's not at all some kind of one-sided mess. ]
no subject
They don't have to talk about it immediately. Castiel's willing to allow some time for both of them to think it over. But at least there isn't this tension stretched out between them now.
He grabs some disinfectant wipes and focuses on Dean's stomach next, where the brand had been, wiping away the blood and cleaning out the wound.]
Apologies. I didn't mean to overwork you. [Castiel says it around a smile. Teasing like this is still possible, so not that much has changed between them. Oddly enough, it's surprisingly natural. Seeing how he's human now, shouldn't be be allowed to enjoy some of the benefits?]
no subject
Yeah, you don't wanna overwork me until later.
[ He's not sure if Cas'll pick up on the innuendo, but it's easy enough to slip into that, like he's years and years younger, hitting on chicks at the bar in a way he hasn't really done in way too long.
Soon enough he's patched up, and Sam wanders in to check on the two of them, telling them there's food on the stove before heading back out again. Once it's done, Dean nudges Cas back so he can stand with a little groan, pressing a hand to the bandages. ]
You did good. Not like it's a good thing you get all this practice and shit, but - yeah.
no subject
They're interrupted by Sam soon after, anyway, though both of them manage to keep straight faces regardless of what they've just done. Castiel keeps focused on the bandages until he's finished, glancing up when Dean compliments his work.]
Thank you. [Dean does have a point, but he appreciates the words all the same. He pulls back then, despite wanting to tug Dean toward the door with him. He feels like he needs to watch his hands, or he'll overdo it.]
Are you hungry? If he made food for us, we should probably have some...
no subject
[ It's not like Abaddon ate anything while she was possessing him. Dean brushes past him a moment, just so he can duck into his room and change into a pair of loose, well-worn jeans and a tshirt that's been washed so many times it's wearing thin in places. It's one of the most comfortable sets of clothing he owns, which is good because his whole body aches and moving too much makes him regret pretty much everything when the bandages pull against the wound.
He shrugs on an overshirt and slips back out, leading the way to the kitchen to grab some of the soup Sam set on the stove, along with a beer. ]
We need to make sure we check this place over.
[ Sam glances up, unsurprised, but listening. ]
Abaddon dug around in my head. Safe to say she probably knows anything she wants at this point.
[ And he doesn't quite look at Cas when he says it, because that was a fucking mess, even if it ended up better than he anticipated. ]
no subject
It's something he already mentioned, and so he nods. Abaddon now knows where this place is located, even if she won't be able to get in herself because of the wards.
That doesn't mean she won't find a way somehow. After taking a bite of food, Castiel speaks up.]
We'll double-check all of the warding and add some more if possible.
[The Men of Letters may have had a lot of information under their sleeves, but Castiel is (or was) an angel. He's bound to have a few more protections that he can add to this place.]
no subject
[ Sam says it nonchalantly enough, but Dean gives him a narrow-eyed look like he's trying to figure out what else he heard. There's nothing else on his end, though, just Sam tucking his hair behind his ears as he stirs his soup. ]
How're you - [ Sam starts, and Dean raises his eyebrows, neatly cutting him off. ]
Yeah. There were some books in there, extra files on how they built this place, could probably reference those.
no subject
How could he, when it only just happened? Though even if Sam was aware of their kiss, Castiel doesn't see what would be so problematic about it.
He keeps his mouth shut on that topic, however, focusing on his soup instead.] I'll get working on it as soon as I'm done with this.
[Castiel glances over at Sam.] It's good, thank you. [Dean's usually the one who cooks for them, but Castiel wants to be appreciative either way.]
no subject
They ward the bunker a little more, and Dean heals up, slowly but surely, the burn and cuts healing shiny and pink on his skin. More scars to add to the tons he has already but at least he's not dead.
Eventually, they get a lead on something to kill Abaddon - Crowley's grudgingly helpful, and it leaves them hunting halfway across the country to find the way to kill her. Pulling into the hotel, Sam hauls everything up and settles himself at the table in the corner, instantly getting down to research now that they're settled. Dean, on the other hand, glances over at Cas a moment, realizing they've been rolling with this thing between them, sure, but the whole hotel dynamics have changed. Hesitating a moment, he tosses the bag down on the bed and glances at Cas. ]
You cool bunking together?
no subject
It's been different between him and Dean, mainly in small, private ways. Sharing a bed hasn't happened thus far, but they've reached for each other's hands when they knew Sam wasn't watching, or sat a little too close together while playing with Boots.
Castiel isn't prepared for Dean to make such a suggestion, especially with Sam right there. He glances up from his own bag, stunned for a moment, before nodding slowly.]
That would be fine with me.
no subject
He's crashed in enough chairs, and if they're going to go hunting for something to kill a demon, they're going to be doing hotel rooms a lot and while it's not their money, this is dumb.
They're queens, anyway. Not like he hasn't shared a bed with Sam before. (Of course it's different, but.)
Sam, to his credit, doesn't even seem to notice the conversation, thumbing his laptop on while Dean starts sorting through his clothing. ]
Okay. I'm ordering pizza. We'll crash a few hours and hit the place in the morning and hopefully find something.
