[When Dean stretches out, Castiel does the same on his side, stretching until he feels a few things pop. It relieves some of the tension built up in his body, hiding in his joints. He'd never realized that simply being human brought about so many aches and pains.]

What is it like? To get a cavity. Have you ever had one?

[It's true, hygiene and cleanliness had never been a concern of Castiel's before now. There's so much time of the day dedicated to it, between everything he has to do for his teeth and then showering. At least his hair dries on its own.]

When I try to get the floss between my teeth, my hands get in the way -- particularly with the molars.

Shitty. Got one and my dad got pissed.

[ It's not really funny to think about, not really, because he remembers at the time he'd been fucking crushed that his body had let him down when their dad depended on them for so much - when Sam did. It'd been barely anything at all but he'd missed candy and sugar a helluva lot after it all happened and his dad had practically outlawed it. ]

They gotta numb you up with needles and take a drill and drill out all the...stuff.

[ He rolls onto his side, daring to actually look at Cas. ]

We can get you these like- hell, I dunno what they're called. Little flosser things. Make it easier to get those spots.

[Castiel doesn't understand at first, why Dean's father would be upset at him for something his body did. But considering the lecture about oral hygiene, John must have thought Dean had been neglectful.

At the description of what it all entails, Castiel puts a hand up to his mouth and frowns deeply, horrified at the very idea of being put through something like that. All because of tooth decay?

It's barbaric.]

I'll need to become more serious about taking care of my teeth. I'm willing to try these... flosser things.

[ Dean's not too concerned about it, anymore. He can talk about his dad and it's not a huge thing, not a horrible ache in his chest that he can't shake no matter how hard he tries. It still hurts, but he can talk about it easier. That's good, he supposes. ]

And mouthwash.

[ Dean rolls over and gives him an appraising little look, his lips twitching into a smirk. ]

You'd probably like something weird like bubble gum or something.

Bubble gum flavor?

[Castiel frowns, not certain he likes the sound of that. Things that are overly sweet don't tend to work well with his palette, something that Dean seems eternally bothered by.]

We'll have to find out.

[That's one of the decent parts about being human, he has a whole new set of things to learn. It isn't all bad, he'll admit that. For instance, being able to shift over slightly and rest his head on Dean's shoulder. It's a small thing, but something he finds he enjoys.

He's still getting used to indulging in the things that he likes, even when it's something like this.]

[ He knows Cas is weird about sweets but it's kind of funny all the same. He thinks he'd probably hate the bubblegum flavor anyway - wasn't enough like bubblegum for it to be good, no doubt. Either way, the talk about toothpaste and teeth care fades to the background when Castiel shifts over and puts his head on Dean's shoulder. Jesus, he's turning into a frigging chick over here. There's a brief pause of hesitation and then Dean reaches around and shifts, rolling onto his back so Cas can settle against his side, Dean's arm curled around his shoulders. ]

Smooth, man.

[ Though for all his teasing, he approves. ]

[Castiel's learned by now that Dean only responds well to things like this if he does them when Sam either isn't present or isn't paying attention. Seeing how Sam's fallen asleep already, it had been the perfect opportunity. This is their first time sharing a bed, and it seems logical that they make the most of it.

He shifts around as Dean re-positions himself , and soon enough they're lying side by side, flush against each other. Castiel has learned by now that Dean is very comfortable.

He makes note of the sarcasm and smiles briefly.]

And what would you consider smooth?

[ There's a certain level of safety in knowing that Sam is asleep. He doesn't know why it matters- Sam already knows, it's not like this is some kind of a secret, exactly (except for it sort of is) but it's just easier if it's just them right now until Dean wraps his head around how this is going to work.

Cas, thankfully, doesn't seem to have the same inhibitions; he curls up flush against him and Dean presses his face into messy, dark hair with a little yawn. ]

Nah, that was totally smooth. I'm in awe.

[Castiel doesn't have any intentions of hiding things from Sam either, but he also realizes that they don't need to be public and obvious with any of this. He closes his eyes, though he's still very much awake, shaking his head against Dean.]

[He delivers it in that neutral way to make it almost impossible to tell if he's serious or actually teasing. He wouldn't mind getting some idea of what Dean likes, though, if only to surprise him with it later.]
